thats only the front seal how do you remove the whole bloody thing?

thanks alot, my washing machine retaining ring somehow sprang out while washing and i didn't even know what it was

Very informative but can you tell me how to get the ring off a Hotpoint WD62 Washer Dryer.....it has a plastic block sitting on top of the rubber seal which looks like it's retaining the ring in some way but I don't want to break it. any ideas what I have to do with that block?? Many thanks.

Many thanks, that gives me the confidence to order a new door seal and fit it myself. We were quoted 190 Euro to get someone to do it here in Germany! Steven
