I agree things must start at home, problem is the parents have things that have been engraved in their minds and prevent the child from learning new things. Im not an African American or an American but recently visited Florida. I was so suprised how parents talk to their kids in public places. I think the parents need the education before the kids. when you start life with a handicap you should not compound your problem with arrogance. The school system is set up to educate those that want to be educated. In many areas there are troublemaking black children/teens who not only do not want to become educated themselves but want to also disrupt the classroom so that others can not take advantage of the education. I disagree with his comment about oppression and the context in which he uses it. He needs to acknowledge the complexity of black issues in relation to society instead of projecting blame toward others.

Nigger is already thought of that way. So therefore it becomes very damaging as every group of people use this amongst themselves. Therefore they will direct it to us well knowing what it means. What I would suggest is to learn an move forward and not concentrate on small things as the word nigger. I agree with the author and get rid of the nigger mentality.

More then half of black men will be arrested over their lifetime for a serious felony. Over a third of black men will spend significant time in prison (which is usually because of a violent crime and/or extreme recidivism).

If you want to break the nigger mentality. Destroy it. Make the word nigger have no meaning anymore. That is what needs to change.

The way to get a handle on that is through the family and by wiping out the drug trade. Raise families...exterminate drug dealers.
