  • Thanks Joan for a truly inspirational song, especially in these times.....

I have loved your music and songs forever......eternally a fan.

  • one word-amazing!

  • These are still the times. Love your loved ones.

  • Really, the job of a musician is to bring us all together to unite in something we relate to and most of us songwriters are doing this because we really want to change the world, not just because we quite like singing. I'm glad Joan is amongst them. If you like this, you might also like the song "Has The Whole World Come Undone?" by Abi Moore - just search in Google to find it!

  • it's an interesting song, but do you all truly believe these times are so different than others? death and destruction have always been hovering in the trees. human history is replete with such fragility--it just tends to get lost in the mythologizing.

  • @bosyeux2 , though your statement is all too true, I believe what others are saying here is that if human suffering in this or any future time can be alleviated only compassion and love will accomplish it. Therefore, we believe that this song and/or anything that can move us to express these things toward our fellowkind need to be kept constant. Would you have us or would you yourself withhold compassion from the suffering simply because it has existed in other times? I think not.

  • ive seen joan about 3 times joan is fantastic

  • ive seen joan in concert about 3 times joan is fantastic

  • what a song! Beautiful!

  • Yes, this song desparately needs to be re-released now!

  • I do believe Joan Armatrading is on earth for some strong messages and to bring consolation to broken hearts with a very warm and nice voice. Thanks for the post.

  • I keep hoping that this song will continue. I don't want it to stop.

  • Wonderul upload. Thanks for sharing.

  • No doubt many are feeling tremendoius sorrow these past few years. Joan does a fantastic job with this one, something we can all relate to, some more than others. Thumbs up, and a Fav.

  • I have always listened throughout the years but now the serious progression in age has also brought along much more qualitative productions. Thanx, Joan.

  • great song

  • music like this is overlooked

  • Joan ! I had the opportunity to watch her once in Rome, which I will never forget. I have all the albums of hers I could get ! Unfortunately, here in Brazil she is not known at all. Bad for Brazilians !

  • In these times when Wall Street needs to be destroyed. Otherwise it will destroy America. Only one thing more dangerous than a standing army. "BANKS". Benjamin Franklin knew what he was talking about. Gold and Silver the currency under the Constitution not digits on a computer.

  • I wish there was a "love" option...."like" will have to do.

  • I love this. . . thank you, Mystic Drummer, for sending this amazing song to me!

  • So beautiful and touching. Encore!

  • This is one of the most beautifully written and sung songs by Joan I have heard to date...It is so simply said..."It" being that which most matters in our human lives...I thank you for sharing this one and I thank Joan for recording it and making it available...

  • thanks so much for Joan and remembering the importance of the past

    kk

  • Lovely song indeed.Always been a loyal fan never dissappointed.

  • So powerful in content, this song is truly beautiful.

  • One of the great pop artists of her generation, totally unrecogonized and undervalued

  • @bronsted123 I agree, maybe its been for the best though. She's been able to have some form of a real life.

  • My country is full of lies, deceit, discrimination and racism. This song is such a welcome and I just can't stop crying.

  • This song is so wonderful. Looking so much forward to see Joan in Århus, Denmark in May. Can't wait - hope she'll play this gem.

  • excellent song and video, made me cry. Joan is the greatest.

  • oh wow

  • lol

  • Looking through my old cassettes I found "the shouting stage", I looked joan up to see what I have missed - to find this song - she is an amazing song writer

Merci a savoyjazz!

  • Merci Memale2009, hélas, l'homme n'a toujours pas vaincu ses démons !!!

  • Wow - what a video... combined with this wonderful song of my favourite singer & songwriter... I love it!

Well done! Thanks for sharing it with all...

Joan will be on tour in Germany in March 2010 - I'm looking forward to it!

    Best regards, Ilka

  • A truely moving song :]

  • JFK never did anything but give a decent speech about going to the moon and get a bunch of people killed at the Bay of Pigs, then leave all the survivors out to hang...

  • People should eat, sleep, drink, breathe and live every waking moment in this song.

  • took the words

    outta my mouth :)

  • good question...

    his popularity probably,

    and the fact that his

    death is still a mystery

    ...and his charisma..

yeah, morethings but i can't name

them off the top of my head right now

  • I can see that. Everyone loves a mystery. While I was young, I do remember him. I remember watching the funeral on TV. I was fascinated by all of the horses. :) IMHO much of the fascination comes from the fact that he was good looking, and he died so young and violently (and on national TV). Had he lived out his life, I don't think he would have been any more interesting to most people than Eisenhower. But again that is my opinion. Cheers.

  • i like the JFK

    in the beginning

    :)

  • @meloveicecream24 - Just curious, what is your interest in JFK? He was dead 30 years before you were born.

  • I have listened to her music for nearly 30 years. I have only had the chance to see her once in New Orleans about 27 years ago. She has always spoken to me. This is the first time that I have heard this song. Thank you for the upload. It is true that in hard times we need the most basic of human contact, a touch, more than anything. It is unfortunate that this very thing has been so stigmatized in modern society.

  • i was at that same concert. small world

  • :) I still have the tee shirt. It's a little beat up, and I haven't been able to wear it for 20 years, but my kids do. It was at Tulane University, and i think I fell a little in love with her that night. Take care.

  • brilliant

  • Something just struck me as I watched this. There are 4 people who are often portayed as symbols of hope "in these times" and this video shows them all Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Mother Theresa, and Nelson Mandala. What struck me is that the one common thing for all these people was they were/are people of faith.

  • I place my faith in those who live their faith. Some call themselves a Christian or Jew or Muslim, yet only do so when others are looking and turn away from those in needthe rest of the time. IMO a person can be a good & have faith in Our Creator without manmade trappings of fine buildings & such Maybe it's just me, but until we can learn to see past the outside to the soul within, see that we are bound together by something greater than language or nation . We'll just keep hurting one another

  • Absolutely agree with you. Are you a person of faith in someone or something beyond the natural?

  • Yes, I'm spiritual but not religious. In all the teachings of those touched by and sent by Our Creator there's beauty and lessons to learn. However I reject the words of those who claim to be of any faith, then twist it to promote their personal hates and intolerance. I feel the power of Our Creator in the lifegiving sea, hear Their voice in the winds and see Their Love for us in the eyes of children. But I cannot begin to imagine Their sorrow at the cruelties that we commit against one another

  • Yes those are wonderful words and I thank you for them and for the most part I agree with them. Personally my faith is based in something less amorphus than the winds, the sea and the eyes of children. It is based in the infinate act love that is the Cross of Christ where They not only observed and sorrowed over our cruelty to one another, They took them onto Themselves that we might be redeemed to Them and to on another.

  • Yes, an amazing song, thanks for uploading.

"We own the world, and everything that's in it."

  • I have seen her a few times here in San Diego. I just love here. She even took time out to do a meet and greet after the show. I took my partner who had never seen her and he was hooked. I wish more people were like her. She is in a catagory all herself.

  • And now my eyes are clearly open No more longing for the past Now I have you in these times. In this times everyone needs love In this times do you pray to God? In this times everyone needs comfort I will welcome a hand to hold. Your passion is the fire that burns the hurt that pains the soul. And though my eyes are so polluted by the sight of lost desires Good to have you in these times.
  • This song spoke to my heart this morning. In these times we are so alone in this world, the pain is so great, the tragedy beyond comprehension. All we have is each other. May we all find that person who we see through our polluted eyes.

  • The song is very beautiful!!!

Thank you for it to you, I love you: Jolie

  • Dedicated to VERONICA BOEHM...Love, Mommy xoxo

  • Oh!! I can't stop listerning to this song. My goal is to buy this album.

    This is the Best song.

  • she gives your thoughts & feelings a voice like no other, x

  • In these times celebrate alone.

In these times Let's be thankful of

all the days we can spend together and

I am happy to hold your hand

Your passion is the fruit that feeds the hunger in my heart....

    I just love this song.

  • Ah! Joan! Great singer, great musician and great person.

  • "compassion is the fire that burns the hurt that pains the soul"

  • @mistakenshyness yes this song should be relesed again
