  • My 55 gallon has an intake to the filter in one end and the exhaust at the other end with a power-head which gives a great circulation. (Stick in some Floaties and you then can see the circulation of the water in your tank) People claim that is stressful to the fish - will how come they like playing in the turbulence then? They actually swim towards it, knowing it will send them across the tank and they do it over and over for fun...

  • Store Bought over the tank Filters are intake and exhaust in the same place. But that is done because it is an easy install. But, here where you have the Extra tubing, it just makes good sense to do it like I said.

  • My only problem that I see with this setup is that you are (sucking in) Intake to the filter in the same place you are putting back onto the tank.

    No Cross-Flow.

Myself, if I were to setup something like this, I would have Intake at one end of the tank and the exhaust back into the tank at the opposing end.

It just makes logical sense to do it like that.

  • can i use this device in a saline aquarium...???

  • So where did you put the charcoal?

  • how much is this kind of filter?

  • @FLOYDNOBALLS118 about 100 bucks

  • @nafaka12 damn it's expensive, i thought it was only 20-25 bucks...thanks for the info

  • @FLOYDNOBALLS118 lol , i ordered one yersterday ang got a 30% discount + 7 bucks discount ontop of it because it was my first purchase from their website

  • @nafaka12 oh good for you, i also wanted to buy this stuff but i think it isn't available here in the philippines.

  • it would have been better if the suction pipe were to be fitted fwd and discharge pipes fitted to the aft. It increases the circulation of the water in the tank thereby increasing aeration

  • I wish to see part 2 - "Tetratec EX700 external filter: how it will look after 6 monthes of usage". imho, this transparent parts is just for marketing, it would be nice if tetra will make some non-transparent tubes.

  • @oleg146 soo true, just green ,non transparent tube would be great so you wouldnt have to stare at a algae infested tube ....

  • its easy

  • I own EX1200 and cant tell im completely satisfied with cleaning. Since bigger but not heavyer dirt is collecting in one end of the aquarium and not beeing collected by the filter. Other than that it really cleans water crystal clear.

  • what's the name of song?

  • hi im thinking of buying on of them can someone help me PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

do they have a none return valve ?

do they have to much currant ?

    easier to clean?

can they leak if your power goes out?

  • @MrGrimreaper1995 mine is fine easy to set up ,one way valve dont leak if power goes out water flow is ok dipends how big your tank is

  • @devilclio thanks if you wana see my tank look on my youtube page

  • mines fine although if you have a hood on your tank i find the bends on the spray war and inlet are poorly designed

  • gee, this external filter is a lot easier to set up than the one I've got!

  • I just installed a EX 1200. Is it supposed to make like twice as much noise as my internal filter?

I thought you guys loved it for the silence... Right here its not near silent.

Otherwise this filter is a blast. Hope someone can help me sort the problems out.

    Any tips? :-)

  • @thomaspaste i just dipped the end tube under the water ( if that's making noise ). Works for me.

  • @thomaspaste it's with most of the external canister filters, my eheim eco pro200 had some noise problems too ,but then i shaked the canister and air came out ,and now it's dead silent.

  • my filter is saying freaking loud noises :S

  • im looking to buy a tetratec 700 new but when you look around at second hand units they all seam to say "new o rings or valves fitted" are these filters known to leak ??

  • @m00ms877 mine doesnt leak.....worked straight out of the box....didnt even read instructions....there real easy to setup...i use it for a very big terripin

  • Try Eheim its better than this

  • No is not.Eheim is just more expensive.

  • how do u know??

  • I have had every brand there is to know .

  • how come everyone says eheim is the best??

  • Either they have no idea or never had a jbl, fluval,or tetratec filter.all about same quality (German Made) but with different specs.

  • Also keep in mind that filtration is not only the job of the filters, there are other components natural and mechanic that play part on the whole process.Never the less you need a filter as bases.

  • great thanks :)

  • what type of stand is that and where can i get one or designs ??? very nice

  • ive gt the ex700 but the flow is comin out slow

  • Check out how u set the mediums and that there is nothing obstructing your water channels.

  • stephensonmartin No do not remove this bag , and rinse it in water before putting it in the filter housing . I use Ex 700.

  • I just bought an EX600 and the carbon media is in a cloth-like bag - should I remove it from this bag ??

  • Hi I would NOT remove the carbon media from the cloth/mesh bag. Some carbon media can be messy. The cloth bag is there for ease of use. The bag is to keep the media all together, making it easy to rinse, move in and out of the filter,

it is common for black dust to come off carbon when it is first rinsed. I suggest you keep rinsing until the dust is gone,, The carbon dust is not harmful to the fish.

  • I think JBL e700 is far more better filter for the same price...Along great design,It does not leak like TetraTec,and you get BLACK tubes,Tetratec has clear ones, and the alges are growing dramaticly....

  • @AlmirJVAlix mine doesnt leak????strange i never even looked at the instructions and it works perfectly

  • never mind, i went and bought the tetratec ex1200 and its simply amazing in terms of quality, price, asthetically very pleasing, everyday use, noise level (if theres any?), filter media and maintainence

  • which is better tetratec ex1200 or fluval 405 sum1 plz reply asap. thanks.

  • Fluval according to my point of view is fragile cause i have previously used one before now i am using Tetra Tec Ex 700 very good value for money and craftsmanship

  • i couldnt agree more:)

  • pls help my filter uplifts are too long for my tank can I cut it to lenght with a hack saw.

  • I have a Rena Filstar...they r awesome! I have an inline UV sterilizer and an inline heater also, and i never have any probelms!

  • This filter is almost exactly the same as my Marineland C-160

  • how often should u change the media??

i just rinse everything once a month until no more dirt/etc. comes out anymore with my aquarium water of course, but what about changing anything??

  • av got the 1200 . just rinses the media in TANK WATER! and gt some cheap filter floss matting for the top layer and take out the prop ad clea the shart of it and in where it came from . btw tetra tec has amazing customer service. i havent changed the ceramic yet but i cahnge the foam every 6 months or so but its all i the manual

  • HELP my tetratec ex 700 filter stopped, i noticed that water wasnt coming out, i turned it off and back on and nothing happened, i pressed the start button and no a bit of water came through, there was water inside the filter and it was making noise, wtf shall i do

  • clean the impler.if that dosnt work your going to have to buy a new impler.you can get them cheap at petsmart.

  • wish my ehiem pro had a syphen butten pisses me off when the hoses loose the water and ya have to naff about trying to fill them with water agean

  • that thing looks like a robot just waiting to assemble!

  • best filter is eheim

  • looks kinda like the marineland c series canister filters

  • nice .. i have the eheim type one of these not had it long and the flow valve has started leaking already. it has to be on full flow all the time other wise it leaks. thay are very good filters tho maybe the best.. nice vid btw

  • nice! but that shit must be expensive

  • better than my fluval. My fluval keeps leaking and this is teh second one! No more! THe EX 700 is as big as a fluval 405

  • Really informative - and looks very straightforward to set up. How often should the filter be cleaned out - with a marine set up? Also, will the movement in the tank be enough from this - or will an additional pump be required (100 litre tank). Thanks

  • mine was leaking and i never buy it againe unlucky i supose

  • for how many gallons is that filter?????

  • best filter there is but cleaning out the tubes is a bitch

  • Just buyed one, looks really nice and dont have 2 buy any extra stuff! Nice!!

    Handy vid TNXS!!!!

  • ooOOoo I want one.

  • good vid

  • This looks and has the same filter design exactly like the Marineland C-Series filters. the only difference is the spray bar, and the clear tubes. and not to mention the price. i could have saved a little more money buying this one.

  • useful ^^

  • it looks like my marineland c-360! its this better than c-360???

  • I am using the same filter BUT with the inlet and the outlet on each corner at a distance the inlet is at the Right side and the outlet is at the Left side , as per my basic & General logic i think that this arrangement gives the optimum Results .

  • I was thinkin of buying the 60L external filter but I was not sure if I could set it up in an occupied tank. because the beneficial bacteria needs go grow in the filter or can you just add the filter in to the tank?

  • nice!

  • Isn't the inlet and outlet supposed to be on different sides of the aquarium so it doesn't just filtrates the half aquarium?

  • 55E in Romania.

  • Some music or something would have been nice.

  • @xbrndnx

go put some music on then nob head

  • Wtf u cant get it in canada

  • i have 1 too , is the best in it quality EX700 series , i payed 80 euros some 2 years ago , now the price i think has gone up a bit

  • in italy i payed it about 65€

  • I have payed about € 80 for it.

  • I have got the same filter. It is a very very very good filter. And it is easy to use. I have it for my big aquarium with my axolotls in it. And i am very hapy with this filter.

  • Aquatics online are doing it for around £63 at the moment

  • Even better Zooplus have it for £50 plus 10% off if its your first order.

Just ordered one from there a moment ago. Bargain!

  • Good for you - great little filter. Not had a single problem in 3 months!

  • aye I know I just ordered it from there as well. the 10% discount was a nice surprise!! Seems like a great filter. goodbye shitty bluWave05 internal! hello clean water

  • Thats a rather nice looking filter. I probably wouldnt cut the excess hose off, but then again Im quite the niggard.

  • I wish PFK would have sound in their videos, even just the background noise would do.

  • not much at all around £80 id say

  • how much is the filter?
