What is it like being a teacher? It is being a teacher, a guidance counselor, a policeman, a detective, a judge, a nurse, and a bookkeeper all at one time. It is both exhilarating and frustrating; it is both exalting and humiliating…Give me a classroom with its you-never-know-what-to-expect atmosphere. –Blackboard Bulletin
Thanks for posting this video, it is very helpful! All of the listed “tips and tricks of classroom management” can be used to better manage a classroom. Some of my favorite classroom management tools that were listed are organization, differentiated instruction, lead by example, respect, and make lessons meaningful. All of these classroom management ideas can be used to make a classroom run smoothly.
This video hit on all things nesscary for good classroom managment. It had respect, organization, clear goals, classroom environment. Student invovlement with the rules. i like how the video is simple and short, hitting on all the important aspects of being a good teacher.
This is a great video that gives educators a plentiful and quick look at a wide range of classroom management techniques. It would be nice to find out more about how to utilize some of these techniques in the most efficient way possible. Instead of using operant conditioning terminology such as reward and punishment, children might respond better to the a more positive mindset and using words such as improvement, choice, consequence etc...
well I can't get the kids to take me serious! even worse when I'm in Junior High or High school! but i dunno what to do to be tougher or whatever!! i don't know what I'm doing wrong! I mean i know that a talk to the kids and listen to stories but I don't know why they don't respect me at all
MAY I ADD A SUGGESTION?: don't carry last year's negative labels into the new school year. last year's 'bad apple' may improve a little if he/she knows they aren't going to be expected to cut up like last year... it's like that self fullfilling prophecy thing.
*i'm not saying forgive and forget, i'm just saying move on and give a chance*
Tried all those tips, what world is this from? You should come to a classroom in Australia. Is it another academic who hasn't been to a classroom before???
Great tips. I am a teacher too and know how tricky classroom management can be.

What rubbish! There is only one rule which works in every country, in every class. DON'T smile for at least 2 weeks!

@jacklyndimmer what type of school is it? Are you involving movement in the classroom? What about starting the day with 2 mins of meditation?

The workshop model is good for class management. It leaves the kids to do the work, so you can kick back and relax.
For an "extra activity" get a book of math/word games.
