It was a clever idea: if FB ppl could get Betty White to host SNL, maybe they could get Oprah to do a show on childhood cancer during her final season. 55K ppl pulled together, but could not convince her to skip another segment on marital infidelity or self-aggrandizing celebrity.
my five year old friend passed away from cancer. she was like my sister, always loving her and taking care of her. but now she doesn't have to suffer from cancer, because she is in a place where cancer is not aloud, the kingdom of god.
Great video, but it includes only US stats. Oprah is GLOBAL, and childhood cancer is a GLOBAL issue. More than 200,000 children are diagnosed with cancer every year worldwide - every 2.5 minutes a new family is told the devastating news. 180,000 of these children will die!
I support breast Cancer, because that is what my mom died of. I know will support child hood cancer too, you are right ONE child is too many, thank you for spreading your word.
I wish I had more FB friends & Twitter followers - not for my ego - but so I could spread the word even further. I hate CANCER. It has killed several members of my family. Let's do all we can to finally rid the world of this vile child killer.
JOIN the campaign on FACEBOOK: Oprah Please Do A Show On Childhood Cancer - Our Kids Need Your Help (I never wanted to think about childhood cancer -- I mean, who the hell *wants* to think about something so sad, so scary, so complicated, so devastating? Then one day comes, and there is no choice -- A kid in you life is told, you got it. the kids look differently after that, and you can't ever look away again. )
Caramon - Hero 8 year survivor of WIlms' Tumor now working on his Eagle Project to help other sick kids by making pillowcases... Oprah - he's only 14 but he wants you to feature kids who are just like he was... fighting the battle of their LIVES! Feature true heroes that have survived. And most of all? Feature the ANGEL HEROES that lost their fight and gained their wings far too young!!!
I'm embedding this on our scout project blog. We only just started it, but any extra viewers is good...
Wow!! I had no idea. I deal with depression so I knew it was a leading killer of young adults, but it never even occurred to me to think cancer kills so many kids. Let's do something about it. Are you on twitter too?
My son Keegan is the 5th child shown, diagnosed with Neuroblastoma 4s when he was barely 3 months old! He's now 16 months old and is doing well, but we STILL have a long road to go with him! He's been a fighter!
Please Oprah, do a show about Childhood Cancer!!! Childhood Cancer REALLY NEEDS this attention!!!

Please support Childhood Cancer Awareness. These children deserve to have their childhoods back, they deserve to grow up!
My son, Kyle Smith, fought for nearly 2 years. He gained his wings August 1, 2010. These kids deserve more options!
