  • I own a 78 SG2000 also, best guitar I've ever played but it is heavy!!

  • No wonder Carlos Santana played this baby in the 70's. Was Carlos' prime period !

  • Great video. Thanks for taking the time and sharing this.

  • Great playing. It sounds like you need a new pick mate.

  • Very nice tone indeed. Sound like a hollow body.

  • Sorry if this is a crude question but do you know how much your guitar is worth, approx?

I know someone who has one and he has no idea if it's worth anything

    Thanks in advance

  • Great Video mate, great guitar too, well done.

  • great video... nice guitar also. Would look great next to my 78 pf 300

  • Nice guitfidle. :) I like my Gibby R9 but I wouldn't mind having one of those classics. Heck I'd take one over Gibson's from the era. :)

  • This was hillarious! Loved it! Great playing ;)

  • I believe this was a Rik Emmett staple...nice guitar!

  • Douchetastic

  • i have a 77 sg yamaha i picked up in tokyo its a killer great vid

  • I love the sg/les paul look of the guitar. Great tune too. Still prefer my fender strat, but I must admit yamaha created an amazing instrument when they made this guitar.

  • i love it when people complete their sentences with guitar playing. Beautiful instrument, I first saw chris poland play one

  • Really like this video, man!

  • All SGs are extremely well built and off high quality. 3000s are the most expensive.

Heavy but you get tone as the benefit

  • I just love tips on how to piss people off - thank you

  • lol my good friend has one of these. I probly play it more often than my own guitars :p

  • The yamaha SG is SO greatly built. Some call it the LP/SG-killer. I don't think you can compare these guitars soundwise, but the yam is cheaper, better built and has neckthrough.

I have owned one of these and loved it, but sold it later on to get a Suhr Standard.

Oh... and great playing as well :-)

    Søren, Denmark

  • what a beautiful guitar...

  • Good stuff! I saw your add on c.l. for lessons and came here to check you out. When I get some money together I'll give you a call. New to ventura, come check out my channel! peace!

  • Hi, Oscar. I have a SG-2000 too~ Great sound!

  • Great Guitar Oscar, I have a SBG2000.

  • lol ending was really funny

  • did YOU just say bosipherous?

  • I saw one in a pawn shop in 97,a quick trip to the ATM and we got married. We had a great honeymoon with a refret in 08,she's still sexy.

  • For fuck sake play the bleeding thing Im looking to buy a new guitar you just put me off the Yammy sg2000

  • Bill Kelliher of Mastodon uses one of these. but i think its an sgb2000.

  • Marley was a fan of the Yammy.

  • @V1cT1M38 - So was Carlos Santana in the 1970's. From 1976 until 1982, his main guitar was a Yamaha SG 175B and sometimes a white Gibson SG Custom with 3 open coil pick-ups. In 1982 he siwtched to PRS, which is now his favourite guitar - a GREAT guitar by the way.

  • rock on brotha! nice guitar. what other guitars you own?

  • 60s was soooo much better than the 70s

  • respect!

  • Ive got one as well , nice vid, great playing (great guitar) :-)

  • thickery-lol

  • its nice to see a brother play a guitar, keep it bro

  • thnxs

  • hey very cool video..that guitar is a keeper

  • how thick is the neck? i'm looking to try this model and my hands are rather small haha.

  • the neck is thin like a LP 60's neck. It's not to fat at all. the only thinner is a JEM

  • Great, thanks for the head's up.

  • @guitarist8688 the neck is perfect its not thick at all it has a great feel

  • Hi Oscar, i have a sg500 and its very good also!!

  • This video was a contributing factor to my acquiring an '84 SG3000 last month. Thanks man, you're a great enabler ;)

  • I love the "annoy the blues police" lick.

  • Urgh! You just fucked up the song! You're awesome! Did your SG2k have the coil taps by any chance?

  • lol

  • Great guitar. Lucky you got one of those old 70's yamahas. I also have one of them and its the best allround guitar I ever had. have fun!

  • Hi Oscar

Man What can I say , you rock my brother and I Love yo tude(your attitide)I have a SG 2000 as well.

    All the best Bro

    Juan

  • Worked with Phil Hartman and own an SG2000. Who could ask for anything more? I live in Japan and always keep my eyes open for a good SG2000 but no luck yet. Great video and great playing.

  • I have a black SG1500, serial no. 001313. Bought it in '82 but don't know the manufacture year - and Yamaha's no help. She's been the main girl all these years!

  • The Yamaha SG 1500 was manufactured from December 1981 to an unknown month in 1984 for the European market only. Neck: Maple/Mahogany. Fingerboard: Rosewood.

  • I would say 1977, based on Yamaha serial numbers.

  • damn thats really nice. I got the 1000 but its okay id still like to try out the 2000 but it just seems like the 2000 owns all.

  • Very cool.

  • how much was it? (sorry if you said it in the video i just skipped to see the playing)

  • You videos are great .

  • Great.

    thank you :]

  • What is the difference between the sg1000 and sg2000?

  • The sg1000 has a set neck. The sg2000 is a thru neck.

  • @vvblues does the tone differ a lot between the 2000 and 1000? i ask because all my guitars are set necks, except for my first act that i keep for sentimental reasons

  • @vvblues yes the rest is all the same

  • Excellent vid - thanks. Dead-on with regards to warm pickup sound.Yes - neck through though Yamaha did make set necks as well. Right around 81/2 our music store salesperson tried to sell me an sg3000 desperately. I've kicked myself for years for not buying it. It was a thing of beauty with all that abalone - not that I'm into that, lol, Dave Meniketti of Y&T, (remember them?),. just got another another black 2000 and is well known for their use now and then. Cheers.

  • Love this video! Your humor is dead-on, man... =) Love and respect

  • nope sorry Neck Through It is. was mistaken

  • These Jap high end guitars like the Ibanez Artists / Performers and Yamaha SG's were built with amazing craftsmanship. Its sad the American made Gibson SG feels like a high school students shop class project when compared to this guitar. Im not sure this model you have is a "NECK THROUGH" double check that, Im almost positive its a Set neck

  • I hear ya about the Les Pauls. My bridge pup has so much treble, it could peel the paint from my wall. I can't stand the way it sounds. Anyway, Great Playing, Oscar!

  • Awesome tones! I think it's a perfect amalgamation of an LP and SG AND MORE! Sweet licks too man! The sad part is while this guitar was reasonable back in 78, it's crazily expensive now!

  • very nice great commun. u r an inteligent entertainer complimenty heh?

I used to have a yamaha sg 250 which I sold and now I miss it. Maybe once Ill go for SG 2000 who knows...

  • great playing, tones and communicating Oscar!

  • My dad is sending me a 77 red sunburst, he and his buddies call it the "last man standing" and I guess that's me. I'm a P-90 man, but I think I may be swayed. Thanks for the insight, ps you're quite the shredder.

  • Oh my god the guitar sounds heavenly i want one

  • coo guy oscar! w/his coo guitar!

I gots me an sg1000 but not as heavy coo as you yet!

needsta go an practisa w/ tha thickery!

  • Oscar! Great video! :-)

    I've got an '80 SG2000 ... awesome guitar.

    Thanks for posting.

  • i don't actually know how to play... :'(

but i like the sound that gibson sg's have more

don't worry i know urs is different :P

by the way ur really good

    mehck... i want lessons.....

  • Great stuff Oscar! I love your playing and sense of humour. I too have a '78 Sg 2000. Wonderful guitar!!

  • "piss of the blues police" you speak my language lol

    killer guitar

  • The best part of this is the enthusiasm...and the tone..not of guitar ( although thats GREAT too ) but of the vibe. Good things

  • isn't that santana's guitar? like the one he uses in europa etc to get like 5 minutes of sustain? lol those songs are freakin crazy.

  • Thickery is great; nice demo, Oscar, and nice playing. Thanks.

  • I seen Santan playing one in some old footage. I heard that was his main axe for a time in his career. Cool jazz licks too!

  • This video is full of win.
