Skyrim is a place of beautiful fields and meadows and of towering mountains of ice, but for some reason I miss that desolate wasteland. Oh god I take this game way to seriously.
But why the fuck would an atomic war 200 years into the future force us to listen to music over 250 years old (this music)? I never understood that :p
@hejjagedu, (my understanding) I think its because in the fallout universe, the 1950's are the last "civilized" years (for america) where industries (such as record studios, Cola companies, and all those "goodies") existed before everyone starts lauching nukes at each other. Therefor not letting society flourish and interact with each other like our universe has. Understand? =3
I'm so glad that the Fallout series came out and promoted 40s music, I was into this kind of music way before the Fallout games came out though... Maybe If we promote it enough we can make the Fallout style a reality for the future... Promote this music, wear the clothes, drive the cars, ect... JOIN THE REDO40s REVOLUTION!!! "MAKE THE PAST, THE FUTURE" XDDD Like if you will join me!!!
@IHAZTHEADHDZ I agree with you one-hundred-thousand percent! I feel out of place in the 21st century. I have been hoping for years that this kind of music would be exposed to the youth of today to show what everybody has been missing out on! Thank God for Fallout!
*gazes away slowly in nostalgic reminiscence* Ah, back in my day, I listened to this as I explored the post-nuclear ruins of Washington DC with a junkyard dog and a lazer-wielding super mutant....
I'm in a Horror Burlesque troupe called Rigor Mortis Revue (I'm Soda), and I have been looking for a song for my first performance. This is PERFECT! My character is a housewife who starts off cleaning and baking, and the first "I'm in Love" repeat part my husband comes home and I kiss him, then strip for him. Then I get the cherry pie I baked, pull a knife out of it, then during the second "I'm in love" part I stab him. Then I'll play it again distorted and feed dead husband the pie *smile*
Wow, a lot of folks here who don't realize, this tune is from "South Pacific". Tex Beneke was a bandleader. He was a member of Glenn Miller's band and had solos on "In The Mood" and sang "Chattanooga Choo-Choo". Some of you guys need to quit siting in front of a computer screen and get out a little more. Live music is best. I just wish they'd included some bebop like Charlie Parker & Dizzy Gillespie, or even better some mid-60's Coltrane.
@MayerEO- I believe the explanation was that culture was suppressed by the government so that it couldn't evolve-and music is included in culture.
However, the "technical" explanation is that this is a retro-futuristic concept, and many people in the 50s viewed the overall culture of the future as the same. Only with more awesome technology and the like. That, or they saw it as the "nuclear age," but even then the culture(in their eyes) was going to be the same. In the media of it, that is.
@SyrenAftermath- I have, and I love the series. But if an apocalypse were to ACTUALLY happen, in real life, it wouldn't be at all like the Fallout series-save for a few remote things, maybe.
In general, promoting future apocalypses doesn't seem like an exactly "bright," or "kind" idea-even as a joke.
yeah it doesn't exactly make too much sense how the FO series was able to "salvage" oldie's music but not recent stuff...not that that's a bad thing! but it just doesn't make much sense. in fact, wouldn't it be easier to salvage recent music because there are a million copies? and saved on pc's and stuff?
@MayerEO It does make sense when you consider that FO is set in an alternate time line, where society stopped changing during the 1950s. Definitely not a bad thing; I don't think walking through the wasteland with Poker face playing in the background would be quite as atmospheric xD
@deidara19973 I really hope I'm just seeing that comment out of context, or that you are making a VERY bad joke otherwise.
