  • ever think about growing your hair long?...lol

  • @Broncort1 he has, you should watch his new videos

  • whats with the tvs

  • The TV is used for....watching TV and showing videos.

  • Wow its looking really good!

  • Thanks.

  • eric i was wondering when you where going to show a video of your nyc l-4 mohawk steam engine also i happen to have a l-3 it runs great but it doesnt work to well on 0-31 curves.

  • I will shoot a video of it when I get it. I don't think it's due to arrive until early October....and then of course I have to be able to pay for it before I can take it home. It's probably gonna take me 2 months to pay it off.

  • I'm enjoying your videos, even though I model HO in Australia. I hope you don't abandon your subway. I think they are really cool, and since you have the work already done. . . Also, in your Hall Room, I envision a city scene. At least, it would be a good place for one I think. Finally, I understand your desire to hide the "loops", but my experience is that I don't like just hearing my trains run. I like to see them run and too much hidden track is never fun. Just a few thoughts. Thanks. Ken S.

  • did you see the blackdiamond railway dvd. because most of these things look as if they are from the dvd that is what helped me on my layout. check out Golden Creek Valley Railroad.

  • No, I haven't seen it but I will check it out. Thanks.

  • this is going to look so sweet when your all done. i love all your videos man. im subbing.

  • oh ok cool sorry

  • not to be a nit picker or any thing those lights at 1:55 caused my neibors house to catch on fire and with all your hard work on the layout i would suggest that you you take those down with alll that wood sorry for being anoying

  • Those lights don't get very hot at all and I've left them on for more than 24 hours before. They get about as hot a christmas lights do and although they may look really bright in the video, they aren't. They're just bright enough to light up the underside of the table when i need to do work down there.

  • I should also mention that those are rope lights, so the bulbs are never in direct contact with the wood. The bulbs are encased in the plastic rope. The fact that the bulbs are encased in the rope without the rope melting should give you an idea of how cool they burn. Additionally, the rope lights have a fuse on them that blows in the event of a short of any kind. They're probably the safest kind of lighting to have under the layout.

  • The backdrops look great!

Thanks for filling us in on that part of your plans.

I thought you'd be stuck in just operation of your wonderful collection forever!

You didn't mention which airbrush you got and I've been considering getting one. I like the Scalecoat sprays but much is unused and I wouldn't have a closet full of spray cans!!

  • ok, thanks for info...

  • 1] Looks great, what's that web site for back drop? 2] When you get track do you get get in bulk?, and if so where?

  • I ordered the backdrops from backdrop warehouse. Just google backdrop warehouse. I usually buy the track in small batches. The exception to that was when Atlanta Trains had their going out of business sale a few months ago. All their Atlas track was 50% off, so I snatched up $600 worth of track for $300!

  • Pretty Awesome

  • I ordered my backdrop from the same website. Glad to see your happy with it. What kind of glue did you use? They say use rubber cement, but I'm leaning towards wallpaper glue (paste). Contact cement was used on my columns when I had the rug installed in the basement and the smell was sickening...lol

  • I tried wallpaper paste, but it was a complete mess and made the backdrop all wet. I ended up using 3M's Super 77 adhesive. It's worked well because you can lay the backdrop but you have lots of time to pull the backdrop off and adjust it if need be. Mounting these backdrops was probably one of the hardest pain the ass things I've done on the layout to date. But they look amazing once their up, so it was worth it. Make sure you cover up any trains and track, because the Super 77 gets EVERYWHERE!

  • I already decided to brad nail hardboard to my wall for ease of removal (if so ever needed). Doesn't Scotch 77 come in a spray can? I haven't started my layout yet because I want to do the backdrop first so I'm not climbing all over the layout installing it

  • Yeah, it comes in a spray can.

  • so, I guess this backdrop is thinner than typical wallpaper?

  • No, it's about the same thickness and consistency of wallpaper.

  • looking good... so how r u making your hills on the layout. with chicken wire and paper macea, ive seen people to that and im not sure weather i should.

  • Looks great! Why do you have a monitor on the backdrop?

  • Well, it's gotta be somewhere and I can't hang it from the celing.

  • IT Looks Great So Far! :D

  • I really like what you did so far, the backdrop looks so good. Did you put cieling tiles in also, the track lites are great. Looks like a real professional job.

I have been checking every few days to see if you added any videos, nice work..

  • i like the CP GEVO.

  • looking great so far.

  • Cool! Looking forward to the improvements

  • the digital back drop looks real nice!!!

  • Cool! Post more soon on trains running around the whole layout.

  • very nice! good job! 5*'s
