Diluting bleach with water and cleaning the wounds may very well be the reason he is alive today.

Bleach have very antiseptic properties since sodium hypochlorite kills pathogens extremely well, some bleaches is even used for sterilizing because of this.

Whenever your in an accident like this you should remain come from what it looked like that didnt happen... bleach is a strong chemical but is not used to clean cuts as it obviously burns skin you should only use alcohol on cuts. they should have found a way to get him out of the wood as quickly as possible and slow down the bleeding... not clean the wounds the pain from the bleach prob increased his heart rate resulting in him pumping out more blood
