I'm not a big fan of banger racing but can see both sides of the argument. 90-95% of the cars used are VERY rough and not realistically restorable. I bought a Mk2 Zephyr about 15 years ago intending to restore it. I spent a bit on it, got it running and the brakes working but it was still a long way off being road legal and it would have been much cheaper to have bought one in much better condition to start with. I sold it to some guy who stripped it for parts
@kazimann get a grip on the important things in life! its a chunck of metal. there are people dieing of cancer and aids and starvation. its no different to throwing away an old power tool or that old push bike you bought 3 years ago.
@Paulrallye What a pathetic response! Most of us can hold an opinion and still have compassion. It's not one or the other.
On the subject of banger racing. Often classic racers are enthiusiast themselves. Most of the time the cars are beyond saving with the good parts being donated to keep others running. Though this wasn't always the case. Back in the 80/90s many good classics ended up in the arena.

Such an undignified end to a classic.
