Boy, last year at the Arabian Nationals... someone snuck into a horses stall and CUT THE TAIL OFF AT THE BONE!! Can you believe it? All that tail just gone in a second. The judges didn't subtract any score or anything (as they shouldn't) but It was just terrible.
how do you her her legs up high and what stuff do you do with the horse i have a morgan horse to and she does jumping and some stuff like this but do you know how to do piffe ?
I'm not very fimiliar with this type of showing, not being from the US.
IS there any reason their tails are so long and when they were unsaddled why were there 5 people right in the horses face trying to get its attention?
@missxmonny - Their tails are long strictly for show. Its like a flashy status symbol. The reason there were so many people surrounding them is b/c that was a Championship class. In Championship classes (except amerature and jr exhibitor) horses are judged based 50% on performance and 50% on confirmation (how the horse is built in comparison to breed standards). The people were trying to get the horses to put their ears up, look flashy, etc. while the judge was inspecting them
@missxmonny - Lots of mane and tail hair is a breed characteristic. Long tails are cultivated and cherished on show horses. Horses are judged for performance on the rail, then 'stipped' of saddles for conformation judging. Two handlers to do the unsaddling and grooming, plus the rider, per horse. Everyone else are either judges or ring stewards. This show uses a three judge system, so each horse is inspected by all three judges.
Theses horses are so beautiful. I wish that Saddlebreds would be shown with natural tails and natural manes (three gaited). If I had a top Saddlebred either 3 or 5 gaited, they WOULD be shown with natural mane and tail.
i have a morgan horse he trots just like that! his name is CO Perfect Timing. we just retierd him. he is lovin life n haven fun i go see him every day at (Peeper Ranch) love that place. n im lookin for a new show horse so i can show at grand nationals! hope i find one
Thats a great video. I don't know about everyone else but I'm pretty excited I just got a new morgan from Kohler and I can't wait for show season. Nationals is going to be a blast this year I just know it.
Scrub the dock every day with a toothbrush or something else abrasive, and put a conditioner on the tail, braid it, wrap w/ an ace bandage BELOW THE DOCK ... and if you don't have a tail wrap, I've seen some people wrap the bandage w/ duct tape.
Just curious, why an abrasive? Or do you mean something stimulating (to me an abrasive is like Ajax or something LOL). Sigh. Wish my Morgan didn't rub his tail. Not that he trots like that anyway!
I agree- this is definatley one of the most amazing classes ever! The Masters Touch is so impressive, even at home "Matt" looks incredible- still got his spunk! Whenever I go by his stall he looks like all the young ones! (The horses neck is giant!)
Okay I'm jealous for various reasons. One, it must be fun to be in a show and two, how did you make this video with music and everything because I can't make on to save my life :(
You gotta teach me a bit of Saddle Seat expirience. You spent all that time with Max and others that you could pass down the knowledge, right?
Need a Saddle Seat teacher because I now have a Morgan that can pick his feet up high like that naturally and I want to show him in saddle seat when he's trained.
OMG I think I just found my next Saddle Seat Horse . I have always ridden Arabians and Saddlebreds and Arabian / Saddlebred crosses for Saddle Seat but these morgans look like alot of fun !!
Oh, I know what you mean. Such an awesome class. This was the first year I won my first world championship and I remember this class so fondly. It was, just, well, AWESOME!
"The Master's Touch" "Tug Hill Whammunition" and "Schaparelli", How good can you get?!?!?! This was BY FAR the deepest competition and most AWESOME class I've ever seen!
they look ridiculous.

There is no natural way. Every type of riding is just as unnatural as the other.

and not to be mean, but seriously. no arabian can trot like a morgan. and you look at saddlebreds, they can trot because they're from morgans. haha:]
we've got a mare in foal to Stilts [Stand and Deliver] but I would kill for a Flyte or Matt baby.
lovedhermadly007 3 years ago
and have you seen CN The Master's Flyte lately?? Looks JUST like his dad. Gotta hand it to broadmoor.

My best friends horse is by Tug Hill Whammunition! He's RJ Wham Beau, out of LCS Fine Linen. The Master's Touch is by far my favorite. :)
