Okay, here's the deal, so you don't have to scroll back some 40 pages in the comments:

"Useful" is defined in the context of setting Best Ring totals. There are some Big-replacement rings that you can get on GC but only by jumping into a pit and dying, and some that you can only get if you use checkpoint rewards to get a lightning shield, when you could have used the checkpoint to get more rings.

Anything you can obtain without falling afoul of either of those traps counts as "useful" here.

I had stumbled across all of them myself, most of them several years before the video was put together, but the project couldn't go forward until I found the last two, in Hidden Base and Cosmic Wall. When I found Hidden Base, many GameCube players took the opportunity to add one to their Best Ring stats there, and when I found Cosmic Wall...it was time to get started on this video.
