I was there about half an hour before the riot police showed up. There were probably a thousand people in that intersection and the surrounding streets. And yeah, this mob WAS easily 70% freshman. The weekend before the start of school, they didn't know where to party, so they went to an area close to campus where there usually are huge stranger-welcome parties.

@ASStealA8 actually if you watch the video's of the Greek riots you will notice that the cops are wearing gas masks. I also hear that when the Greek police catch you they bring you back to the station and beat the soles of your feet with a metal rod so Id take the beanbags any day.Also heard that if they catch 2 friends together, they make them say derogatory things to eachother and force them to slap eachother in the face after each statement. I believe they have video's of this on youtube.

Does anyone know what the guy is saying when he goes "motherfucker never give up over time" or something? Also, the EPD are not so bad, they got a couple trumpets back for me once that got stolen, and also threw a guy who assaulted me into jail. My guess is that these are just all drunk freshmen, basking in the first week of their new found freedom. This happens a lot, it happened on my block back in 2008, they didn't have to use tear gas then though. It was funny to watch them run.

The library is nothing but a way for dealers to get the their buyers and for homeless to check their email. I cringe just driving down that way. The area surrounding the U of O campus is so crime ridden these days I won't even consider attending the college for fear of getting raped, robbed or worse.
