@supraguido Five yards according to my math is only 15 feet.They are shooting at 30 feet or 10yards.
Leo's don't get into to many firefights at 50 or 100 yards. Putting any 45 acp round in the same hole at any distance takes practice and skills which the man obviously has. There is no way you can look at those guns in this video and tell if they are all stock.Stock out of the box guns today can come loaded. Meaning trigger work, slide work polished feed ramp work just to name a few things.

Oh..steven is shooting what appears to be a colt with a rear slide mod..the next guy has a sti trojan..then probably a les baer custom..its one of his slides...the last guy has a target master. No leo is going to use a carry gun with a light sao trigger. Thats just a recipe for disaster. As i said..they are ok

He is a black belt in four traditional arts, his movies have earned him $600, 000,000 worldwide, he has taught some of the best aikidoka out there. Seagal was three when the war began, 23 by the time the war ended.
@bigjessus He moved to Japan when he was 18/19 (the age of conscription) when he moved to Japan (1971) and returned to the States in 1987, (12 years after 'Nam ended.) He probably would've been called to serve, if he was in the country at the time, but he's never even been in the army. Don't believe everything a celeb says. I love Seagal, and don't doubt he could kick ass for real. I too train in aikido, as well as having black belts in Karate and Judo, and certified in Jeet Kune Do.

It is scary that these officers maybe required to use their gun in a real situation. Under pressure as well. If this is the standard, I hope it doesn't apply here in Australia. Those plates were 20 feet away. How can you possibly miss them? Please tell me the police were just acting for the sake of the show. I'd hate to be a bystander when a perp comes at one of these cops. There's no fucking zen involved in hitting a 6 inch plate at 20 feet. You put the tip of the front sight on the center of the plate and don't fucking move as you squeeze the trigger. How fucking hard is that?
@Lassannn So does Seagal ...and that is what you get if you practice everyday - you get to hit the plates..and needless to say, those other cops don't and thus their shooting.... I'm sure if you were there, you could have hit all just like Seagal..no doubt.. :)
@junlins Yeah, I don't always hit the bullseye, and the match stick was cool, but I've done that at 30 yards. If I can see the match stick, I can shoot it. I can't see one beyond about 30. But can you really defend police officers who miss multiple, rather large plates, at 25 yards? I wouldn't feel safe being an innocent bystander in Louisiana.
Even IF the cops were told to deliberately miss a couple of shots, Segal shooting and hitting the plates that quickly takes a considerable amount of skill in its own right.

Seagal has the time and the money for ammunition...police aren't as knowledgeable about shooting as you would think. The Sgt. gripped his 1911 like a revolver, the Colonel looked like a pro-shooter with his custom-sighted1911, but didn't perform as well either. what's sad is the capt. did well with what looked like a stock service glock...
He is a good shot, but what if he was on foot and a criminal ran round a corner. Would the finely tuned athlete be able to catch him? My guess is he couldn't even catch a cold.

Im amazed he can shoot like that with that horrible grip! But I have heard from many who have shot with him or have seen him shoot that he is awesome!
1,000 rounds a day. I only did 500 a day, it's too costly. took about 4 hours worth of my time. Now with restrictions on powders and such, it's getting hard to repair a firearm let alone feed a family of 5. Priorities I guess and times are changing.

They need spending money too and on a single income, well it sucked; but it is fun. I really enjoy it. I also contribute my time as well to the club and they appreciate this as well, as a range officer and teaching. But I have had invitations where the reloads are 5$ a box of 50 I just had shift work that gets in the way too. It's a hobby I enjoy, it relaxes me after a hard week.

shooting these steel targets from that distance is not difficult with practice. cops should practice regularly, their lives and the lives of others depend on it. i always hate to see a cop with a sexy gun (engraved) that doesn't know how to use it. it's like driving a sports car with shitty gas in it.

@daddybean. Yah a funny story. Went shooting with some guys from work and the boss jim wanted to go cause he had never shot a gun before. Two of the guys were cops who moonlighted at our work. The guy jim who had never shot before was given a 22 and literally shot a can up a hill like a movie ( he was a college pitcher and left winger in hockey) the cops were ok but nothing special. Then the gave jim a 45 sig and he couldnt hit anything cause the kick bothered him. That made the cops feel better

Then you look at someone like Seagal who has been an enthusiast for years, had hundreds of hours on safety coursing for every film he's done, and spent even more on his own personal time shooting with little financial concern. That creates a very strong difference.
Yeah, I shoot a box of 50 about once a year, just to make sure I remember which end of the gun the bullets come out of ... and I'm pretty sure I shoot a hell of a lot better than the cops in this video. Maybe it's a little different with a TV camera pointed at you, but still...

No way Seagal is an master shooter. He is would rate less then a "D" in USPSA shooting. He is slow, and he can not even grip a 1911. Your thumb needs to be on top of the saftey on a 1911 not under it Mr. Seagal.
Your stupid difference between combat shooting and competition. I had the luxury to go to a shooting range with special forces in Iraq. The only basic fundamental of shooting a weapon is to aim at the bad guy, everyone will adapt to the weapon in different ways their is no one standard besides whats common sense. Wrong Jr, in combat you want you thumb on top of the safety on a 1911. if your thumb is under the safety like a retard would have it, under combat stress, you might push the safety up when you fire the pistol and it recoils, and then the pistol would not fire. While you try to figure out what is going on, you or your buddy gets killed.

He is a black belt in four traditional arts, his movies have earned him $600, 000,000 worldwide, he has taught some of the best aikidoka out there. People don't need to chat crap about his life, making fake stories. In his first film people actually believed he ran black ops during vietnam because above the law said so. Seagal was three when the war began, 23 by the time the war ended.

@bigjessus He moved to Japan when he was 18/19 (the age of conscription) when he moved to Japan (1971) and returned to the States in 1987, (12 years after 'Nam ended.) He probably would've been called to serve, if he was in the country at the time, but he's never even been in the army. Don't believe everything a celeb says. I love Seagal, and don't doubt he could kick ass for real. I too train in aikido, as well as having black belts in Karate and Judo, and certified in Jeet Kune Do.

He's an amazing aikidoka, but don't believe stories which have never been validated. He makes a career out of being mysterious, so of course he tells so many tales to keep people guessing about what's true and what isn't. It's pretty obvious by the maths and dates that Seagal was never in Vietnam or Cambodia though.

It is scary that these officers maybe required to use their gun in a real situation. Under pressure as well. If this is the standard, I hope it doesn't apply here in Australia. I would like to think my tax dollars are training police to protect life. Not take the life of the ones they are trying to protect.
However, I understand that police would normally be at closer range anyway. Steven as always is the man, I hope he spends more time with these guys. They need him.

Those plates were 20 feet away. How can you possibly miss them? Please tell me the police were just acting for the sake of the show. I'd hate to be a bystander when a perp comes at one of these cops. There's no fucking zen involved in hitting a 6 inch plate at 20 feet. You put the tip of the front sight on the center of the plate and don't fucking move as you squeeze the trigger. @junlins Yeah, I don't always hit the bullseye, and the match stick was cool, but I've done that at 30 yards. If I can see the match stick, I can shoot it. I can't see one beyond about 30. But can you really defend police officers who miss multiple, rather large plates, at 25 yards? I wouldn't feel safe being an innocent bystander in Louisiana.

I suck at shooting, but I can hit those things from 25 yards. That's not hard, unless you're firing a .45 or a new gun that hasn't been sighted in yet. Looks like they're firing 9 mm's, though. That shouldn't be that hard.

You're going to be hard pressed to find any handgun more accurate than a nice 1911 with a quality trigger.

If you've got time to get behind a police door, and use the window as your base, hold the gun with 2 hands, and sight in the target, then I'll agree with you. But if you're firing at multiple moving targets that are shooting back at you, I don't think many would want to have a .45 in their hands.

1,000 rounds a day. I only did 500 a day, it's too costly. took about 4 hours worth of my time. Now with restrictions on powders and such, it's getting hard to repair a firearm let alone feed a family of 5. Priorities I guess and times are changing.

I also contribute my time as well to the club and they appreciate this as well, as a range officer and teaching. But I have had invitations where the reloads are 5$ a box of 50 I just had shift work that gets in the way too. It's a hobby I enjoy, it relaxes me after a hard week.

@daddybean. Yah a funny story. Went shooting with some guys from work and the boss jim wanted to go cause he had never shot a gun before. Two of the guys were cops who moonlighted at our work. The guy jim who had never shot before was given a 22 and literally shot a can up a hill like a movie ( he was a college pitcher and left winger in hockey) the cops were ok but nothing special. Then the gave jim a 45 sig and he couldnt hit anything cause the kick bothered him. That made the cops feel better

Then you look at someone like Seagal who has been an enthusiast for years, had hundreds of hours on safety coursing for every film he's done, and spent even more on his own personal time shooting with little financial concern. That creates a very strong difference.

Wrong Jr, in combat you want you thumb on top of the safety on a 1911. if your thumb is under the safety like a retard would have it, under combat stress, you might push the safety up when you fire the pistol and it recoils, and then the pistol would not fire. While you try to figure out what is going on, you or your buddy gets killed.

what does the "slide" have to do with anything. I said the thumb needs to be on top of the "safety". who cares if the moron seagal was gripping one thumb on the other.
