  • There is a reptile show in toronto!? That is within a couple hours of where I live!

I need to go now :D

  • i have snake bite peircings ;)

  • lool kel made me laugh when he dissed the boarder guard

  • Thumbs up for Nemo <3

  • Are you going to go to the next expo in Toronto? It's the largest show that Canada has ever had, I'm getting my first reptile there! a Chinese water dragon =D

  • I have tattoos, a husky, a knife collection....over 20 lizards and I'm Canadian. 5'2, 25 year old girl from Ottawa :) Typical reptile keeper. Love the show ! I'm looking foward to meet Brian someday !

  • I've had people not believe I am a capable reptile keeper at reptile shows since I am a woman. Once I get to talking with those breeders the stereotype fades away pretty quickly but it's interesting to see how easily judged people are.

  • FUCK THE CANUCKS

  • @lunchb0x93 lol they're complaining about US border police and being respectful to Canadians and you're saying fuck the canucks.

obvs you don't like these guys, or Canadians

    what are you doing here?

  • @HOLYDSFA im talking about the hockey team

  • I think the stereotype is such BS! I have a 14 year old friend who is a girl and is obsessed with snakes and never stop begging there moms for one. . . That "friend" may or may not be me :)

  • no long hair but tattoo lmao marked up like the subways in harlem

  • reptiles are the best i have got to say that is because i have got over 25 reptiles :) i love snkebitetv

  • @1:47 It's Sonic! :D

  • Stereotypes make me laugh. I'm Asian and I keep reptiles (i was actually in this video). I study commerce, and I go around campus with dress shirt, jeans, and converse while cruising on a longboard.

  • toronto? go to VANCOUVER, BC!

  • I'm a 6'8" 230lb. 24 year old kid with a beard. Everyone takes one look at me and thinks I'm a stupid jock when in reality I'm a chemical engineer working on a phd in reproductive immunology and on a DVM (doctor of veterinary medicine). Guess i get the last laugh

  • @pgrizzly1 So not only are you a tank, but also highly intelligent? Win win my friend, win win.

  • ive been sterotyped as a freak or weirdo cause i express myself in a different way to boring, plain 'normal' people

  • Lmfao; When Kel was talking about coming back from Canada and coming threw the Port Huron broader, I got a little pissed because my dad works at the broader XD LMFAO.

  • hahahahahah"im sorry that your mother didnt love you"

  • nemo and the blue fish

  • Damn Kel your rant was great but you better hope those guys don't watch these videos or they will really give you a hard time next time you come back!

  • Comment removed

  • lol careful Kel, those guys will eff you up if you mouth of to them unfortunately

  • This is @ Kel for his little border rant at the end - You better watch yourself, those people may be a bunch of dicks, but don't cuss them out like that. Especially not at the Canadians. They are doing their jobs.

  • Long hair= Snake person

  • I'm with you on coming back into the US nonsense. I always have a good experience entering other countries but never coming back to the states.

  • I love kel's rant toward the end (:

  • in response to the rant on the american border patrol...i live in sault ste marie, the international bridge is literally in my back yard, and most of my family lives in ontario so i have been over the bridge many many times. and i agree where your coming from, i have been harassed by many of the bridge workers and even had my car pulled in for additional screening. i mean i get we want to protect our borders, but it's to the point now where our own citizens feel like suspects trying to come home

  • Stereotypical reptile owner? Definately the long-haired tattooed biker type. Atleast that's what most people think. Then when they come to a show, they soon find out there are people of all walks of life involved in this hobby. It's always exciting to see more and more people coming to the local shows here in Calgary, AB (Canada) and becoming interested in reptiles. P.S. KEL IS THE MAN! Keep up the great work guys!

  • Some people dont relised im iguana keeper

and one of coolist kids in my grade

  • i didnt even know they had scaless berded dragons

  • maby it doesn't help that i have long hair and like metal. but screw periceing's, I love most music includeing rap music. I love all reptiles and animals and people who sterotype about reptile keepers are just jelious that they don't own a reptile XD....

  • i have long hair lol

  • I actually bought a spider and bumblebee from urdan reptiles, I was disapointed. The spider was great but the bumblebee had no appitite and was sick. Waste of 700 dollars... Assholes

  • what was that on 1.35 was that a scaless beardie and on 1.58 what morph of beardie was that

  • i hate people that think evreybody that keeps reptiles are all like that

  • i straten my hair and people thought i was emo

  • @kurtw08 i used to straighten my hair and i got called gay and emo

  • ive been sterotyped b4 i brought my ball python western hognose and cornsnake to school recently and some ppl were like wheres ur long hair or piercings and i said F***K you, you sterotype

  • its defenitly its the long hair heavy metal music peircengs and tats

  • People say I eat rice and beans everyday xD

  • YEah long hair, hair metal, light on the tats so far and no muscle to speak of...well that one. But yeah I have been stereotyped and I likes it.

  • Hehhehehe,i am that stereo type.Long hare,tattooes,metal,muscles and snakes!

  • I love lizards!!!

  • 5:10 I love going on Urban Gecko website and just staring at the pictures of his lizards. They're gorgeous! I wish I had the money to buy from him... ;(

  • 2:27 is one of my favorite fishes ever! the aroanna

  • @ukaakuakuuka i have one xD a silver aroanna its about a foot long rite now

  • at 1:32 is that a spikeless bearded dragon

  • its scaless..not spikless

  • i know i was thinking the wrong thing

  • people assume im emo........ alot

  • im not a stereo type snakes are just as normal as dogs you dont see wild dogs here in the wild so people shouldnt judge im 11 and i keep snakes my character is just like my friends NORMAL

  • i think the sterio type is total crap. Snakes and other reptiles are just as normal pets as dogs and cats. there are for every one.

  • I have a friend who keeps snakes, he's been accused of alot of different things. He's actually an atheist. He is somewhat of an alternative type of guy, as he's very sebsitive, and he can really be very cold and mean when he wants to.

  • At :55 is that a lightning pied?

  • it was awsome to meet you guys at this show

  • Well Kel ha i been called fag, emo, punk, goth, creep, i got more but ill stop and its all cause i like the rock metal etc music..and yea i like everything about being a so called emo punk kid but im not gay or creepy for some reason i got called that but anyways im not gothic but i like the music. well though im a lot like Kel honestly or well like you depending on who is reading this.

  • hahah...no i dont agree with the stareo type.....even though that deiscribes me exactly...i have long hair, like rock music, and love tattoos....granted im 12 so i dont have any tattoos yet i pretty much fit the discription...except the whole satanist thing

  • wait, why would a reptile keeper be a satanist??

  • Well I never owned a reptile but I have friends that have and the running stereotype is that they are "Devil worshiping freaks." It isn't true all my friends that have snakes, leopard geckos, monitor lizards and other lizards go to church and don't go sacrificing the neighborhood stray cats . Most of the time even though they have snakes they normally have other pets like fish, turtles, chinchillas, millipedes, dogs or cats. Silly people =^_^= wish NYC allowed hedgehogs as pets

  • OMG Kel is soooo correct about the crossing the border. I went through the same thing about 2 years ago only we were in a Tow truck towing a tractor so we had to wait in line for like 2 hrs to go through the F***ing xray thingy and OMG they were dumb a**es about the hole thing I would not want to go through that again

I feel ya Kel ;) lol

  • snakebytestv is awesome! easyly the best reptile show on youtube. it is so cool!

  • omg im from toronto awesome! and i have an albino hedge hog just like that one!

  • I dont think I have ever been sterio typed to my face. When call made the comment about tattoos and long hair it shocked me. I know all kinds of people into the fun of owning herp. I am actually the only person with tatoos.

  • the most memorable time that I was stereotyped was in New York City. I was in a museum with a group of my friends. Woman who worked there asked were we were from. "Louisville, KY" i replied. oh really is it weird for you to wear shoes in this big city and see like all the buildings with running water. Louisville is the 16th largest city in the country were not hicks we enjoy all the comforts a "civilized" society.

  • hedgehogs ftw

  • plants in the shop would help clean the air and have healthier critters and workers.. for example plastics and paints, and construction materials in general off gas phalates and other pollution into the air you breath, nasa has done studies on which plants remove certain toxins from the air the best. just google it =^-^=

  • ive deffinatly been sterotyped, im a 6 foot 9 rugby player, yh im tall and im also ginger and if i ever go to a club with my team, u always get the drunken yobs wanting a fight with yh cos u play rugby. they got a beating that night

  • Yes...FISHNREPTILES! :P

    Great video as per usual

  • Hey guys, I enjoy the vids every week as usual! Personally I think reptile keepers are still looked at as "weird" but it seems the newer generations are getting more involved in the industry and helping form the idea of keeping a snake as a pet or even for breeding as a normal or more common thing to do. Oh and by the way, the spider het albino ball I got from you guys at White Plains is doing awesome!!! Thanks guys keep it up!

    -Adam, NY

  • i mean snake.lol

  • Yeah i was thinking ya know ball pythons i wouldnt imagine to be to tasty lol. it just depends on your situation theres not one snake for everyone.

  • hey Brian i wanted to know if a ball python would be a good first snack? i am going to turn 14 in 3 months. thanks for the opinion

  • lmfao at pelly

i have long hair(not slipknot or dethklok but like what cute is what we aim for long)

and im a nerd(i got to a school for computers specialty IN HIGH SCHOOL)

i dont think im overweight but yea lol

dont really have acne lol where did acne come from?

  • There is a stereotype? I just figured they loved reptiles and know what they're doing. I've seen all kinds of animal keepers and to me, they all look different, if not looks then personalities.

  • coolnesssssssssss!!!!!!!!

  • what i think of the "Reptile Steroetype" is

    -long hair

    -acne

    -overweight

    -nerdy

  • Haha, he said neesh instead of nick

  • i believe the sereotypical reptile keeper is a person who loves reptiles...not male, female, black white, yellow...just some one who love reptiles and keeps them

i had a conversation once with a man on a reptile forum about this same topic he told me "When you say 'reptile keeper' you dont picture tupac. Black people dont take care of lizards." i dont have long hair, or tats(yet) i hate beer, dont smoke cigs, not a big fan of rock music, BUT I LOVE MY FAMILY all of em even the scaly ones=)

  • Woah, keep your pants on buddy.

  • hahaha oh god i think i might fit that stereotype. XD although people tend to look at my appearance and assume i live in my parent's basement, fuck everyone i meet and don't have my shit together. although i haven't met many snake owners who also keep bunnies as pets.

  • you got that right with the boarder , they are a**holes , i have a husband in the u.s.a and they wouldnt even let me threw to go see him nor let me go to his mothers funeral , i have been denied 4 times to go to the states for no reason ahhhhhh anyways cool vid!

  • I'm an optimistic, athletic, blonde hair blue eyed girl. I love fashion, technology, classical music, and of course, reptiles. People are always surprised to discover that I keep snakes, because visually, I'm almost the complete opposite of the "snake lover stereotype", ahahaha. Hopefully, I'll be getting an albino lavender dwarf retic in about two years- Cuteee!

  • Well, I'm not a long haired guy or a family man! I'm a woman! Why are WE so overlooked? I've met plenty of women in the hobby

  • yea sure well guys im 13 and a guy i do not have long hair it is very short and i have no tats nor does my father or motherand i own many reptiles, just like that kid in the balloon story this stereotype is a hoax

  • im a pretty normal person and i have quite a few reptiles, a lot of people call me weird and heartless because of it. i dont let it get to me because having reptiles is way more fun then having just a dog or a cat (:

  • I'm Hispanic, and I've been stereo-typed A LOT while growing up, especially when I moved from CA to CO. I started high school in CO and they placed me in ESL classes because they thought I couldn't speak English very well, even though I had been in Honors English classes throughout middle school. It was very disheartening, but I moved past it. :)

  • It's in southern Colorado.

  • oh, cause if you went to north, or west, or south, or lincoln, or basically any other school in Denver then that wouldn't be the case. I go to westminster and it's well over 50% hispanic

  • I went to high school in Colorado Springs. VERY conservative, sadly.

  • yah, that'll do it. LOTS of conservitive christian white folk.

  • at 2:14 what is the fish with a blue face and stripes down its sides, and the silverish lining on it's back fin. i have one in my fishtank, i got from someone with a lot of other fish, and can't find out what it is.

  • dogs are cool but reptiles are 100 times more interesting

  • your a very well mis informed ignorant dumbass

  • like darknessahead520 said, you are mis informed

  • im just stating a point-they should be kept in the wild and i dont even think darknessblablabla is even talking about me... he just says-fuck everything. and a load of other crap. anyway, im not looking for HIS oppinion, or YOURS for that matter. im just a 14 year old girl who has only ever kept fluffy animals as pets and is very shaken up because all these people are putting videos of snakes killing rats! im just upset! *shivers*

  • they eat rats and other fluffy animals in the wild too

  • i know! GOD! but wild fluffies are a problem! thats wh we should leave them there. im tired of this argument!

  • in my country my friends usually they are just normal looking, people will never find out they have reptiles at home...untill they go to their homes

yeah! and by the way, there is gonna be a reptile expo in montreal tomorrow, and i am gonna go there! honestly it is the frist time that i go to reptile show...haha exciting me!!

  • so from what ive seen sterotypes for herpetologists and herpetoculturists are:

    1 they dress sloppily

    2 they are satanic

    3 they love metal

    4 they are excessivley carnivorous

5 they are extremely heterosexual and prefer not to wed

    6 they are loners

7 they have tattoos and love motorcycles/trucks

8 another form is that theyre retarded/nerdy

all of which is just ridiculous stereotypes and the people that use them are trash

  • oh my gosh!! i have glasses and braces, so people automatically think i'm a nerd. gosh! use some commen sense and get to know me.

  • MEN!!! MEN!!! I find that to be offensive! I am a woman, I own snakes! I love Boas..

  • @elizabetnelson right out there with you sister. I'm a 20 year old woman, and people look at me and assume I'd have a cat or an annoying tiny yappy chihuahua. They think because I'm small and a girl I can't handle a reptile, but I love my snakes, lizards, geckos, toads and tortoise more than any other animals in the world, and I wouldn't trade my cold blooded babies for anything.

  • my uncle had a friend that was just a normal guy but if you went in his house he hany turtles, snakes, and lizards everywhere! he even had a iguana that went around the house freely

  • I used to live in PH and I can tell you that the treatment you guys received coming back into the states is very typical sad to say. I've heard some horror stories of truckers in my days of working in a hotel.

  • well the first person i ever met was a long haired tattoo guy so i always will refer back to him but after being at so many reptile shows its rare at a show to see one person that looks like that its soo cool to see people you would never expect to want a reptile buying one i love shows for that reason alone no matter what i can find a friend at a show

  • Some of my friends think i'm weird cos I own snakes, Have tattoos and love listening to metal. And always the same question "Why Snakes??" .

But when I actually get friends around and give them a snake to hold there views change completely. I will always be a reptile keeper til the day I die. But It's also a part of me that will live forever.

  • Kels QOTW: I always thought Reptiles Lovers were Crazy Steve Irwin type guys you know the " CRIKEY MATE!!" all over the top and such and i always get stereotyped as a tall skinny geeky kid who loves Dungeons & Dragons and such, but on the contrary im very athletic and will out play most anybody in any sport!!... but i do like Dungeons and dragons too :-P

  • omg im at 0:47 in the lime green shirt !@

  • I'm a teenage girly girl. No one expected me to be the one among all my friends who would go out and catch snakes in her free time, but that's who i am. Most of my guy friends are afraid of my pets. Stereotypes are ridiculous.

  • reptiles can make dating so hard lol. most of the people afraid of my snakes and lizards are grown men

  • I think the Stereotype of the average reptile lover/snake keeper is just as ridiculous as most other stereotypes. Sure some people will match the stereotype but from my experience a majority of snake keepers are just your average person who happens to have found a passion for herps!

  • I see a variety of people that keep reptiles. Yes I do see the stereotypical reptile keeper but I also see family people and just plain normal people. I am not a stereotypical reptile keeper but I do like to wear my metal tee-shirts.

  • 1:32 scaleless bearded dragon?

  • ya those are leatherback beardies they had at the show

  • sweet, thanks for reply =]

  • Awesome show, I was in Toronto this past May.

Now as for the stereotypes, I think that poeple that do that know not much about snake breeders.

I have really super short hair/ no tattoos or nothing and I have snakes :D

  • I do not look like the stereotypical reptile keeper at all! Im a girl and people sometimes se me as a bitch because I like fashion and makeup, but I do love reptiles and have some of my own.

    Screw stereotypes!

  • yeah a lot of people i talk to about my red-tailed boa claim that i look nothing like the stereotypical reptile keeper

  • well i have a 3 corn snakes and a monitor and ferrets but there not reptiels grate show best one so far keep em comeing

  • Oh man do I get hit with the stereotypes and not in the way you would expect it either. I'm clean shaven, short hair and don't have a single tattoo or piercing and yet when I mention that I breed or even keep reptiles people always seem to come back with a "But you look so normal." Yeah lady, well your cat fetish is kinda creepy but I don't judge you so leave me be!

  • I think I see more of the stereotypical reptile keeper (if there is such a thing) on youtube more than anywhere else. Maybe just because it's global. The people I personally know who keep reptiles are just plain folk. People I meet are very surprised that I keep reptiles. I just don't fit the "image" they have in their heads. They don't expect to see a fluffy grandma with no tattoos or piercings loving reptiles! LOL No matter what the exterior, it's the love for animals that counts!

  • I hear Fire ball pythons are used to clean up the colors of morphs

  • what ball python morphs are good for "cleaning up" the colors of other morphs?please tell me i sure love the info.

  • you should do a show that is risky yet needed.how to cull rats the right way.the humane way please.talk about it even though its risky.we need you brian.thx

  • those black clown fish can only be found in a small peace of coast line around darwin NT australia, nice to see there over in canida

  • BORRRRRRRRING

  • then dont watch.

  • Not being a reptile keeper myself, I'd say I stereotype reptile keepers as coming from the 80's / 90's metal era. kinda older Iron Maiden fans with at least one motorcycle in their garage, and a tatoo for their wife/ girlfriend on their moderately swoll arm. btw, none of that is an insult!

  • i really try not to stereotype people but I really think the stereotype for reptile breeders and keepers is kind of true. everytime I go to an expo it is always "interesting" people with the long hair and tats. I really wish a few more people on the normal side would join the hobby. great video by the way learned a lot.

  • i always get that crap i hate the stuff man it's stupid. quit labeling people

  • 2:09 animal loving is not legal in Texas, even if its consensual.

  • I've personally never heard of a stereotypical reptile keeper. I think that's what makes our hobby a great one though, there doesn't have to be a stereotype, people of all ages, sizes, and colors can come together for one common joy and that's reptiles.

  • yeah kel!!!!!! fuck cops and rent-a-cops. and nice censorship. :D

  • i no there ass wholes max anda half times 12 nd 3quarters

  • Try Cat Battles Chihuahua!!! Boxing and Tackling CAT!!!!

  • I've got to agree, I went to a reptile expo in northern georgia, and around there, there's alot of rednecks that are some hardcore reptile keepers that have long hair and tatoo's...

  • Rednecks always have those anyway!

  • I was reading on craigslist a person was talking about the high "rehoming fees." The fees are too high i agree, but i dont agree with this line... "Hell, any drug dealer or prostitute can have an extra $400 dollars around to give you and they will take that puppy home and feed it to their snake." I am a snake owner and I am not a prostitute or a drug dealer, secondly i would never buy a $400 dollar prey animal! The entire statement is simply ridiculous.

  • Lol and my comment was in response to the question about STEREOTYPING!

  • a lot of people in my school call me a terroist because i look so dark. i played tennis during the summer and its was everyday so now i got a really bad tan that makes me look arabic but i'm not arabic (I don't have a problem with the arabic culture)

  • man i hate stereotypes for anything for me im a first time reptile owner with an IJ carpet python and the reptile stereotype is apparently that the person who has reptiles are like sketchy who dont rele fit into society well i think thats bull my friends dont find me a reptile keeper but then again once i tell them they just go like o sweet yea so screw the stereotypes im not a sketchy person and i fit into society fine plus now even my friends want a reptile. reptiles are dope

  • kel thats funny you talk about the boarded and stuff.ive heard a lot of people say the americans were just so rude to him and just being pricks. and then they cross the canadian boarder and they were just polite and easy going. like "come on in our country!!!!!!!" americans are more like "what do you want!!!" hahaha.

as for you're question i have a shaved head, tattoos, motorcycles so i guess i kinda of do fit the stereo type. but any one can be an animal lover regaurdless.

  • i finds its guys who streotype people with reptiles. if a lady finds out about it there normally pretty interested in the actual animals. while guys tend too stick with you don't look like a reptile keeper too me, don't come near me with that snake...sam, UK :)

  • I think its funny how people think only big burly guys keep reptiles. I mean im a girl and pretty small but i have two leopard geckos, a ball python, and am getting a Woma python soon. I've been sterotyped too! Everyone considers me and my friend wierd cause we are the ONLY ones in our school that have snakes! It sucks they cant see the joy in having such a cool animal =/

  • Sterotypes.... None other than lonesome geeks so far, or even the highly masculine thick boned guy with tatts and a bear??? F that ish.... I'm not hypoMasculine in the least and I love Fashion and song writing Gay is not a defintion of me but what i prefer. Proud owner Of a reptile and a few four legged other friends. Sterotypes are seriuosly for the small underdeveloped minded people. Your show Proves that sterotypes just dont fit. PEACE, ROGUE SCOTT and more demos to come.

  • oh wow an albino hedge pig, sweet neaver seen one befor great vid brian

  • I've no idea about a stereotype reptile keeper is. But the whole long hair n' tattooed is just plan BS...it's like saying all cat-people should be little, lonely women without lives. I know a person, a young girl who is blond n' wears pink everyday...she also owns a doll collection. Her pet of choice is a full-grown Monitor lizard. Yeah, most expect her to own a small fluffy dog of some sort right? People shouldn't judge others, animals or not by what they look like.

  • canada fuckin blowsAN CAN SUCK MY MOTHER FUCKING DICK!!,an yes i have reptiles an im all tatted up an have peircings an my hairs fairly long who gives a fuck ,REPTILES FOREVER BABY!

  • it's funny you brought up the stereotype. I have over 20 reptiles, but i think i dress pretty normal. However, been having dating troubles and my mother said the only person who i will find to accept me and my menagerie is a tattooed, black clothed, long haired guy. I have to admit though, the coolest reptile stores i have been to have been run by such people- nothing wrong with it.

  • ladys gets lucky :) super funny :)

    hit video above :)

  • the canada show looks pretty cool.

and the border patrol... yea... i get the feeling you're going to see more and more people like that in the future.

  • i have been stereotyped as a emo i mean come on Yes i get emonomal and i lisen to rock metal alternitive . but does that mean i slit my wrists HEL LNO i just LOve to ROCK out!!!!

  • Kel sounded kind of pissed off... ;0))

Well, the world is fully of p....s, and I guess they have some in the U.S. too?!

  • I was stereotyped once, someone was like o there goes that crazy guy, he eats bats! That's not fair so I bit a bat once cause he bit me is that any reason to say " o look there goes that crazy guy!"..LOL

  • (or would I??) haha jk dude.... but yea, that was a great show... always has been always will be.... great job guys.... <3

  • seriously, yea, stereotypes are a whole bunch of bullshit... yea, i have pericings, (not quite old enough for tattoos ^.^).. but just because of that doesn't mean we are bad people... reptiles aren't bad either.... they can give the same affection as a dog or a cat, and honestly those people need to be more scared of the big ass rottie in my yard, than my snakes........ i had to say something about Kel... dude, could u have gotten any more mad?? hahaha wouldn't wanna meet you in a dark alley

  • a lot of people look at me long hair tattoos and reptiles as a bad thing but it is amazing that every one who see's you with a snake wants to know more about them. so to a degree people look at you and asume but the fact is they just want to know more!

  • I had no idea there even was a stereotype for reptile keepers. The only thing I have noticed is that people are usually more shocked to find you have reptiles if you are a woman. I think for a long time they were considered a ''male'' hobby, bu thats certainly not the case!

  • The leopard geckos at the start looked pitiful...
