The target audience for the movie would have grown up on The Racoons. I did. I loved hearing it at the end of the movie because it flashed me back to my childhood. Fans of the show who didn't see the movie shouldn't care. Fans who did were probably happy to hear it. The series didn't live forever over here, some people who watched the original run grew up to be gore hounds who had the biggest smile ever hearing the song again after a retro horror movie.
@DonJohn80 If Gillis the sell out wanted people to hear the song again, he should have had it simply re-released in the music charts and NOT have it used in a slasher movie. Slasher movie using old family theme song = WRONG!
@David315842 When I watched it with friends most knew it was the theme from the Raccoons, and it was funny because it's completely the wrong song to put at the end. I'm a hardcore transformers fan and two of the most loved songs attached to that fandom are Dare and especially the Touch. Would I be annoyed and offended if they had stuck one of those happy positive songs at the end of the movie? No I'd be happy as fan that it was referenced. I'm sure the director is a Raccoons fan.
@trailersic Though Transformers was quite dark and violent and was never a show to entertain wholefamiles per say, anyway Transformers also has a huge adult fan based and their mythos has expanded into several mediums like the Bayformers movies for example, you seem to forget (like nearly everyone else) that The Raccoons was a family show and so having the show's creator sell out like that is just horrific! Nuff said.
@David315842 If there's one thing that will get a show released on dvd it's people outside of the hardcore fandom hearing about it. Whatever way doesn't matter if you were really that desperate for a release. Companies don't release shows and films on dvd because they "deserve" a release, they release them if they think enough people know about them and will buy them, if the song being in Hobo With a Shotgun has caused more people to talk about the Raccoons, you should be rejoicing.
@trailersic Your mental if I'm going to 'rejoice' over this crap! A LOT of hardcore Raccoons fansere dis-pleased by this, one of their fav songs used in a violent movie like this has led fans to say 'my childhood has been raped' and rightfully so. I also tell you something, The Raccoons was being released on DVD in the UK with the first two seasons made avaliable, now thanks to Kevin's sell out, we may not get anymore for a long while. I hope your pleased with yourself for backing the sell out!
Found-out the ending credits is the song from the TV-show called The Raccons. Its true non fitting song for ending of a movie where Hobo going around kill people.
@KeenyFox Thanks. I'm not too impressed of what Kevin has done here either. Totally disregarding his own fans is a clear sign that it seems he dosen't care anymore. It's a damn shame! :)
The Raccoons finished on CBBC in 2002. Last episode they aired was Simon Says! (Remember recording at the time. Wish I'd kept it!) the final episodes they showed was shown in widescreen (16:9 rather than 4:3).
I'm not a hardcore fan of "The Raccoons" perse, i'm more softcore
I love Bert Raccoon and I would love to acquire the series and specials as a whole on DVD or Blu-Ray.. The things i want either Shout! Factory or other reliable DVD distributors like Mill Creek or Rhino is to LET us buy it
as for "Hobo With The Shotgun", I never saw the film but from the footage.. i'm better off seeing Death Proof or the double feature as whole
@Kitsuneranger DVD yes, Blu-ray, due to it's source material (as in it's film prints) it's not likely. Who knows if Kevin will give the rights to a compatent North American distributor, probably a Canadian one. And yeah I'm just staying the hell away from Hobo With A Shotgun.
@David315842 Don't rule out the possibility of a Blu-Ray release entirely. There are a couple old TV shows such as "The Twilight Zone" already on BluRay, restored from the original film prints. Restoration is expensive though, so there is a very slim chance that the Raccoons would make it on BluRay, but it still can't be ruled out altogether.
@EncoreEnterprisesLLC Encore you just answered your own question there. It's expensive to restore, after this I doubt Kevin will cough up the costs of a HD restoration of the series and specials. It would be a damn miracle if he ever did something like that.

"the song is so out of place, it's bizarre, why do that?" That's the joke.

@trailersic It's a joke all right, a not so funny joke towards Raccoons fans.

@trailersic Actually we already have an example, The Touch was sung in Boogie Nights, which I thought was great.

Get rid of all the hyperbole - just get to the RACCOONS

@raccoonwomana1 Sadily nowadays it seems Kevin Gillis dosen't seem to care much about The Raccoons. :(

I`m Canadian and didn`t like that use The Raccons theme song at the ending credits.

Good rant. If what Kevin Gillis is doing for The Raccoons right now is the best that he can do, I am not impressed.
