  • This guy is musical royalty, and needs to be saved & taken care of.

I wouldn't be surprised if Prince hooked him up with the RV.

  • At least we know his name

  • Addiction is a very hard thing to overcome. He started off having really bad ulcers that were giving him extreme pain. Also, who didn't do drugs in the 60s and 70s? He's just had trouble shaking that off. He's a truly talented musician. I really hope he's getting better. We love u Sly!!!

  • AN HE LOOKS LIKE HE IS DYING LORD SAVE HIM B 4 ITS 2 LATE

  • WOW MAN HE LOOKS BAD DIDNT KNO HE WAS ON THAT BAD GOD BLESS HIM

  • god..this is fucked up...so sad

  • This is for nothing, but the love of this man! There is a new documentary about Sly Stone. Search for "ON THE SLY: In Search of the Family Stone." A tribute to his soul and genius. Check it out.

  • Damn, if I had come across him on a street, I would not have recognized him with 200 guesses. I hope dude is happy and has whatever it is he needs in life.

  • I wish you nothing but the best Sly. Your music still inspires me to this very day!

  • CHRIST , SLY , IT CAN ONLY BE THE LORD , JESUS CHRIST !!!!!!!

  • HE'S NOT STAYING SOBER. he's sly for fucks sake. he just needs a break, then he'll go back to whatever drugs he does. the biggest insult is feeling sorry for him and telling him to "stand". this man has done so much in his life he doesnt need to keep up appearances, which is what most do. they lie about being sober and keep a smile on their face. sly's real and im glad he's still using. STAY HIGH PEOPLE.

  • people get old get over it. he looks fine to me considering how crazy his life was. like he said people that love him will take care of him. so get off your high horses and just be glad he's alive. LOVE YA SLY!

  • @solargesture Great observation. The RANGE of things Sly has seen and done far exceeds that of most people throughout history. Almost nothing in his life appears to have been 'average'. However, mastering the 'average' life is something even fewer can do...

  • What happened to his beautiful voice??

  • Bless you Sly!

  • This was hard to watch... I grew up a big Sly Stone fan. Peace be upon him and hopes that he gets clean.

  • I love this man!! He has lifted me up more times than anyone can count with his words, his music, his smile, his energy. The only time you look down on someone is to give them a hand to help them up.

  • @jerzaw...AMEN! I couldn't finish watching this. My prayers goes out for Brother Sly. I especially hope that those scumbs hanging around him and doesn't mean him any good would either get help or get caught and serve the max. time.

  • We love you Sly and wish you well.

    Thanks for the great memories!

  • Stay Sober.

  • It's called ON THE SLY: In Search of the Family Stone.

  • Has anyone seen this new Sly Stone documentary trailer? Anyone know about it?

  • I hate people when i listen to something like this. The condescending tone and snikering of this asshole interviewer is based on the sadistic need of the masses to eat up the shit someone might be in. This ass would interview i dying mother with half her baby sticking out, bleeding and moaning, trapped in a car wreck and you know what?? He would make a profit cause people would watch and eat it up!! I hope all is well with sly!!

  • God bless him......he's only human folks.....his music made him a giant, but he's only human and I love him ANY way he is...drugs or no drugs, clean or dirty, Sly is THE MAN.

And as far as gifts go.....WE ALL owe this man more than we could ever repay for his help in bridging the black/white gap, the soul/rock gap, and fo fillin' ALL GAPS wit da FUNK!

I'd give my last dollar to him in a heartbeat.... :)

  • A music legend looking like this!! Damn drugs!!

  • i love sly and his music and i feel there's still a chance for him as long as he's living and breathing there's a chance for him.if i saw him some where i would hug him and promise him that he's going to be alright, i still have the utmost of resect for him and i always will. I live in L.A. and i hope i will by chance run into him and tell him thats its not too late for him and everyone deserves a second chance.

  • I would think he was a homeless junkie if I saw him on the street; not one of the greatest musical genius of modern music. Now that is a motherfckin shame

  • some of the wealthy star should help him get into a assisted living or something. it would be nice for him to get his voice back. that is what takes place when people are not corrected because they are on tv or in a movie.

  • but for the grace of God,,,,,,,,,,,there goes I....please pray for Sly, this could very easily be any one of us. am praying for you and wishing you well.

  • Damn. This makes me extremely sad.

  • Good luck, Sly. More important than performing, making new songs, reuniting or making another comeback, best of luck with obtaining and maintaing sobriety and inner peace.

  • I couldnt stop laughing while watching this clip.. He reminds me of the crackhead on the movie "Friday" with Ice Cube

  • @MrDustin00 you're an idiot

  • @darkgable619 your the idiot sticking up for a crackhead!

  • @MrDustin00 And obviously YOU'RE an idiot for not knowing how to spell "you're".

So we all have out little problems now, don't we? ;)

  • @emptyradio1 I think you mean we all have 'OUR" little problems.. and you have the nerve to talk about my spelling,, Dumbass.. Oh and by the way Sly isn't going to rehab to get clean.. He is going to avoid jail time,

  • Lord, I love this man and it's hard to believe he's still alive...I hope he gets well!

  • I don't even know what to say. From a middle aged white man who somehow ended up loving funk more than any other music, Sly, Funk Brothers, Parliment and other ground breakers all provided me with hours of pleasant distraction from life's problems. This here just knocked the wind out of me. This is what can happen when you cut yourself off from people that care about you. It will obviously be over soon, but a hearfelt thank you for you did for me Sly, and Godspeed.

  • @Wintuscotty - you don't need to say you're white and somehow loves Funk more than any other type of music, it's cool baby, music touches all no matter what type it is or what skin color you are. It just makes me sad to see what Satan's poison does to people, great or small people, don't matter, this shit destroys people and so they are always in my prayers!!

  • Tears!! Dammit why did I watch this video after watching some amazing footage of "Sly" when he was on top..."Stand Sly" that's what you told us now it's your turn to "Stand !!"

  • This just breaks my heart. I've loved and looked up to this band and man for decades. I'll pray for you brotha. :(

  • this is so painful for me to watch, iv'e seen so many talented people be destroyed by drugs and now this its heart breaking

  • but damn he must've had fun... he still has a sly grin

  • Man that is sad. Go watch this musician in earlier years. He was brilliant.

  • Very very sad. His voice & spirit are gone. He is a broken man. not all his fault thou, only 50% we all know what happened to him. He had all the wrong people around him & the Family Stone. They were NOT PADDED down with the proper people looking out for them. Suppressed the evil & threats with more drugs. Heartbraking. Love you Sly! IYour in my prayers I'm a musician & fan since '68 and your set me on FIYAH musically with your music 7 words of FREEDOM. Please FREE yourself from the EVILS!

  • Flirtin' with what you shouldn't

    Very little chance to grow

Hurtin' when you know you wouldn't

No win, no place, no show

    Remember who you are!

...and be true with it, man! you can make it if you want it!

Best wishes from a brazilian fan.

    Fabio M

  • Of course no one can really know, but it's difficult to understand this, not only in Sly's case, but in the case of so many other artists. How can such a beloved and admired person come to this? So many people in the music industry, apart from family and friends that Sly has influenced and paved the way for, and not one of them could stop this from happening. On the contrary, he probably has enablers. Sly, your fans love you and are heartbroken when we see you like this man. STAND!

    PEACE

  • where is Sly? if anyone knows please tell me! Guna get him back in the biz!

  • God Bless You Sly...

  • Sly Stone is dead...D.B.C. (death by crack)

  • Wow, how do this happen to a soul/funk legend?? O_o My heart goes out to Sly.

  • This truly hurts my heart; I had no idea...I idolized this man when I was a teenager. His music awakened my heart as a young black woman. Met him and the family backstage after a concert when I was 15 or so. He was so wasted he had to be propped up by two handlers on either side. At the time I figured acid or maybe heroin. But his sister Rose and other band members took me and my sis aside, let us sit in their limo, talk on their phone to Cali, big deal in '68. My heart bleeds.

  • Sly, I loved your music my whole life. You're of the greatest musicians out there. You can make a comeback dude. Hang in there.

  • I love him.

  • So sad.

    I wish him the best.

  • @almdrs Amen

  • Poor guy, what a great talent destroyed by drugs. His music catalog I heard was worth over $8 million at one time. During that time in 1984, some little unscrupulous crook named michael "sandusky" jackson bought his song rights for only $1million leaving his brotha out in the streets. Fricken crook, I'm glad that effeminate little cocksucker is dead.

  • @hotathlete2 How can you blame someone for what Sly did..the only advantage that was taken was the deal...Sly is responsible for his own actions.. you're probaly upset cause you didn't get to suck Mike's dick. ASSHOLE

  • @gragidram jackson had been raving on for most his career about black musicians being screwed by white businessmen, well that didn't sit true in this case. I'm still happy the little fag is dead!

  • @gragidram thats true,,,

  • @hotathlete2 Well, it's business idiot.

  • To call Sly just a junkie is completely stupid. And this is not 1974, make music as half as good as Sly's and then judge.

  • He seems happy enough to me. And he's still here with us.

  • What a junkie, and then in the interview of 74 he actually had the balls to judge the great Muhammad Ali, for wanting his black brothers to be proud and stand up for their rights. Moron.

  • WAY too many judgmental comments on here

  • damn!

  • Sly needs, and I'm serious about this, a protective payee. That is a court-appointed person or agency who manages the client's money. The payee protects and money, and gives it to the client upon a showing of need. The payee could ensure that Sly has a place to live and other necessities, but prevent him from using his money to buy drugs. It's demeaning, but I think it would save his life.

  • there is a lesson here , here we have one of the greatest funk legends of all time and he is now living on the streets of Oakland Ca .due to drugs .and his music is selling right now online. something is wrong with this picture.may God give him strength to overcome his Demons sly I grew up on your music.and it's sad to see you go out like that .

  • Get up Syl,what was so bad in your life that you had to go down like this, you were a king among kings ...get your ass up.what would your friend Jimi cheated out of life at 27 say about this.No substance in this world is so good that it would drive you to this. Please get up Sylvester......Stand.

  • @barrabas357 That's not "Sly" THIS IS A HOAX.

  • @beloit22 It is sly actually.

  • the interviewer is a douche - Sly is beautiful.

  • in rehab for the 9th time and living in his van. Sad to see anyone go through this but also hard to feel any sympathy for a man that had everything but decided to do drugs and squander it all away.

  • I wish the interviewer had spoken to the great Sly Stone with a liiitle more respect in his voice. That's just me. Sly's biggest fan EVER. I love and pray for that man.

  • @kingjaythree exactly. i didnt like his tone at all. like, dont laugh when he speaks, show some respect. sly influenced a whole generation.

  • Oh God! He needs help quickly!

  • Hey Sly, love you man, I saw in your eyes, a single minded man, I pray you make it, you said, everything in life is a gift , its the way you said it Seal, you be blessed, nutt'in funkyer than a old mans funk, fo real G. ! you look like you are getting ready ! I see it by faith knowing that your work is not finshed, I belive in you man, you are still standing, there is a GOD belive it !!!

  • He's right though. Famous people often get stuff for free. They don't really have to buy much of anything. Their recognition alone is money. Especially in LA.

  • 68 years old and his voice sounds terrible.

  • dear god he's gone downhill in a hurry

  • God bless him.I wish him all the best.

  • Depressing

  • Sad somebody in his family should please help him. He is a legend. Sad very sad!
