The "lei ting-2000" is heavily based on the US M270 MLRS. It can launch various type and size of ammo thanks to the module design concept.

The video demostration is more for public consumption, this video was on display at an arms expo that was open to public.

If you were a representative of a foreign military, you would get a live demostration. Obviously you wont rely on video to make judgement.

But China released details about a series of superguns. These superguns have range of 360 km and can fire 410mm nuclear shells. These guns are GPS-guided and come in many different variants.

1. There are many other missile systems with a 400km + range, the various US MLRS systems are examples.

2. The US Navy has a VLS that carries missiles with ranges well over 400km. SM-3: 500km range. Tomahawk: 2500km range. Then there are the systems of other countries.

3. There is no way it can avoid all the world's defense systems. If it flies, there is always something to shoot it down with.

4. Every missile system has a 360 degree attack capability. That's why they're called "versatile."

SY-400 is NOT a cruise missile.

This is rocket ARTILLERY. No other MRL system has a firing range of over 400 km. The MLRS has a max range of 70 km.

It is almost impossible to shoot down an artillery shell. Well, the rockets fired from SY-400 are just like shells, but it is guided, travels faster, and is equipped with maneuvering warheads.

The Sy-400 doesn't need to do that.
