  • Hey man, not a bad video, hope mine can compete for this year's

Just wondering, how much did you get as a GPA and SAT score?

  • @silenttik Thanks dude! My GPA (weighted) was about a 103 or 104, unweighted it was about a97 or 98 I think. My highest SAT was a 1950. Good luck! :)

  • hehe,,if you place somthing on youtube you gotta be aware that people are gonna criticize your work. But if you cannot take any of this, probably this isn't a career for you.

  • @Chocheonline Well obviously, that's the point of Youtube. I just hate how people criticize something that's not meant to be relatively acclaimed...or acclaimed at all haha

  • Not to sound stupid but I'm intrested in both film and Acting..is there any way to study both at tisch?

  • @HollywoodGirl2104 Um...I actually have no idea, sorry!

  • Clearly, acting isn't an important part of the criteria for entry into the school of film.

  • @wazzapgangsta If I was trying to get into a school of ACTING then I would've cared more about the acting. I only focused on the story elements and production/editing of it all. That's what they're focused on, if you would bother to check out what NYU looks for.

  • @zzzirhchrizzz If you auditioned them. Then you shouldn't blame the actors for their bad roles. You are the director and you are their guidance. I had some terrible actors too, but it's my fault. And I had some good ones too, and that's when I feel proud of my work.

  • @Chocheonline Did I ever blame my actors for anything? Yeah, some of it could've used work, but I used the resources I had. I, and my actors, did the best they could.

  • @zzzirhchrizzz Well, you were justifying their bad acting when "wazzapgangsta" was talking about your actors. But, bad actors is the results of bad casting. You didn't find directable people that could pull up the job done.

  • @Chocheonline I just chose my friends and family because it was easier! I was in high school, didn't audition anyone, just tried to get the job done before I started my application. This wasn't any high-end production, obviously, since the movie isn't my best. Just tried to showcase what I knew how to do back then, that's it.

  • @zzzirhchrizzz You don't need a high end production. But once again. The director directs the actors. I'm just saying if you don't learn from your mistakes you won't leave them behind. For example, I auditioned a great actress,,but along the while we were rehearsing I just lost it. And who did my teacher blame? not my actor friends, or the actress,,he blamed me.

  • @Chocheonline I totally get that, but this video isn't meant to be judged on that criteria.

  • Is it a good program? and how do they evaluate your portfolio? Is the movie important or do they only check the grades?

  • @Zora2345 The Tisch program is arguably the best film program you'll find on the east coast, art-wise anyways. I'm not entirely sure how they evaluate the portfolio, you'll have to ask them. However, the portfolio is definitely highly considered, despite grades being a greater factor.

  • Are you allowed to use licensed music for your application?

  • @l2kfreakl They don't say not to, and I didn't getting penalized for it as I got accepted so I don't think it matters! :) They just want to see your skills in all aspects of filmmaking.

  • to much close ups and black and whites

  • @garyzon15

He had to do those close ups cause he didnt have a good microphone..

  • So if you major in photography- you have to have an excellent Gpa still? I am a sophomore now in high school, but am looking at art schools.

  • @TonyChinAkers For NYU? Yeah, I'd say so.

  • Haha definitely not a genius. And you aren't being a pain, I like answering these questions because I wish someone had answered mine when i was younger haha. And I got accepted, but I didn't attend because tuition was about $60,000 which is ridiculously high. I go to Boston University for film/television and I love it here. Tisch is the hardest school to get into at NYU, and that's why it costs more to go there.

  • Damn!, what are u a genuis??! lol thats a really high average. For sure i have to really work my ass off, but i never thought that tisch was a hard school to get into, guess i was wrong, which sucks for me. Are u still attending?? What is the school like?? Am sorry if am being a massive pain in the ass am just really curious.

  • Well that sucks, but nah thanxs for being honest, i wanna be realistic bout it but tisch is my dream school, but there's still a chance i might get in tho rite, if my audition/tapes, admissions essay and sat are really stellar, it was just junior yr that i fuked up will it really make that huge a difference??.. (say no!!) lol What gpa did u have when u graduated hs??

  • @lifeONaSTAIRWELL I mean, never say never. If your portfolio/admission tapes were beyond excellent and extraordinary, then you may stand a chance. All I know is that the NYU Admissions offficers kept telling everyone that they valued the HS transcript above all others, which means that GPA is and H.S. grades for all years are important (decides where you rank in your class). My GPA was about a 101.8% or a 4.0 when I graduated. You need to work hard now to gain a slim chance to make up last year.

  • good job on that film! i plan on applying next year as a either a drama major or art major but my grades junior were really bad, bad like 64% rage, around there, do u think that that could cost me my acceptance to Tisch?? I had a really bad year but will they really count that one year against me?? Please help!! i really wanna get into this school!! :D Thanxs!!!!!!!!!!

  • @lifeONaSTAIRWELL You might have a difficult time being accepted into NYU, sorry to say, because colleges look at your entire high school career to see if you can gain acceptance. NYU is highly selective so they really want every year of your high school career to be top notch and in the 3.8-4.0 GPA range. :( I don't mean to be a downer or mean or anything, but that's the nature of the school. Just be reasonable with the colleges you decide to look at. All colleges look @ 4 years, not just NYU.

  • my GPA was in the 3.9-4.0 area, but they definitely look at the grades for admission to NYU with looking at the film and portfolio more as a way to get into tisch school of the arts at NYU...its definitely a combination of both that need to be good

  • What was your GPA? Do you think they look more on film or grades?

  • Hey man, nice idea.

Im applying for tisch, I have a few short films.. can I only send ONE film? did you just send this one, and write about the other things you did in the resume? Also, how is the program? housing, people.. the experience in general!? haha

    peace

  • @rikicarneiro thanks man

you're only allowed to send one film unfortunately. but i listed and described everything else ive ever made in the resume and linked to my youtube page if they wanted to see more. i didnt end up going to nyu for various reasons, but i go to boston university now for film and the experience is awesome. feel free to ask about anything else!

    chris

  • @zzzirhchrizzz Really! My brother goes to BU! he's a senior... He's in the SMG though... Im applying to BU also... How is the film course? Is there a lot of practical work (production)? How does it balance with film studies (History, textual analysis etc.)?

    ricky

  • @rikicarneiro thats so cool! haha small world. you dont really take film classes your first year, you mainly get involved in the television station or other things like that on campus. you maybe start film classes in sophomore year, but junior year is when things really get going. the first two years at BU are more based on a liberal arts foundation. i think it's well worth it. from what i know, you choose the balance in your film classes whether you want more studies or production.

    chris

  • Great video! I was just wondering, I was reading over the requirements and it said a one-page resume. Was yours an extensive one? I don't have much experience and I'm worried a short resume might hurt my chances.

  • @mollythesuperjew

thanks so much! and mine did fill up the page mainly because i have a whole bunch of videos on Youtube and i described all of them on the resume so it took up a lot of room. just put everything you have out there.

  • Heyy this was pretty interesting. definitely different. How do u like the program?

Amazing? Lol. Mind if I ask how was ur GPA and SAT?

  • part two? part two? part two?! lol. This is a very interesting video and idea. I know it can be difficult to come up with interesting ideas and make it all come together. You are very creative. :DD Will there be a part two? haha

  • @PuppysKiss101

i wish there could be a part two! haha. all my friends in the video are at college as am i soooo itd be a little difficult to do a sequel

  • Hey cool video.

I was just wondering what your SAT score was and if you received any scholarships or anything.

    Great work though.

  • @Parrschel

    thank you!

um my highest SAT score was 1960, and the only financial aid/scholarship money i got from tisch school of the arts at nyu was like 9000...meaning i still had to pay a whopping 51000 to go there - so i didnt! hahaha

  • Lol "There's a back?" I use that line on just about about every test...

    Awesome job with this though!

  • congrats for getting in! its a really cool film! =D

may i ask how long did you take to make it?

  • @TheBRangers thanks!

filming took about a week = all the stuff at school happened in one day. the editing and effects and scoring and whatnot took about a month haha. (writing the script took a year!)
