My grand pa still ueses this model today, I finaly got him to update his lighting but as my fire chief, I couldn't talk him into a new siren. :)

I can remember having fun going for the in between sounds on our Interceptors back in the 70s. People would always give you funny looks when you made the in between sounds. I had a CHP officer talk to me once about using "unauthorized" siren modes while rolling code 3. In those days, you could only legally use wail in California unless you were using an electro-mechanical siren in conjunction with or unless you had an electronic on "wail" mode only. I don't know if that is still the case.

@Code3forever Same thing today but yelp is typically legal. Priority and hi-lo aren't actual siren tones but they are used anyway because it's expensive to get sirens custom-built without them.

:58 That's the high pitched yelp the Chicago Police cars made in the movie "The Blues Brothers" during the chase scene in the city. Additionally, that yelp was mixed in with the wail.

no matter what kind of siren comes out on the market.the old federal still has the best tone sound the wail and yelp of any siren out there.

The 2E is the only version of the Interceptor I know of that is capable of 'in-between' tones.

You are correct. The 1E Director and the PA-200 is also capable of doing the in-between tones.
