  • @shawntoh Oh STFU, mongo.

  • THANK YOU so much for posting this. I could hug n kiss ya haha! ♥Peace and best to ya xx

  • I'm guessing this is from when Lemmy still did acid, right?

  • Lemmy wrote this... and it was Hawkwind's only ever top ten hit.....those arty boys didn't like it at all & sacked him

  • @actorneil OOOOps

  • @actorneil They didnt like it as they were all on drugs like mushrooms and acid and Lemmy was on everything else so the drug using collied with each other, Lemmy got arrested for drugs and coudnt perform for 2 gigs so they sacked him (Lemmy actually wrote the song Motorhead for hawkwind but as they fired him he kept the song and named the band)

  • @Mercer1503 Interesting.

  • @MorningDew4LongGrass Tis interesting stuff man, check out Lemmy the movie. interesting film

  • @Mercer1503 Cool.. thanks for the info

  • @actorneil Lemmy did not write any of the song, just sang the tune the best.

  • mines blue

  • for one of my friends, he loved that song rest in peace krise

  • LEMMY !!! :)

  • what you doubt its lemmy! it is

  • Lemmy is so badass, whoever listens him, during the length of the song automatically becomes a heavy metal badass sexual icon with mercury, iron and whiskey flowing through his/her veins. SCIENTIFICALLY PROVED FACT

  • @killbetokill HOW RIGHT YOU ARE!

  • Pre-Marlboro Lemmy!

  • the kind of stuff that sounds best really loud - lots of cool space effects..."these go up to 11"

  • i didnt think lemmy was in the band at this time , and definetly does not sound like him

  • @RockNfuckinRoller97 I dont think lemmy sang in hawkwind

  • @Mercer1503 This is Lemmy. There's live video of him singing this on Top Of The Pops.

  • @Mercer1503 Also, duh, it sounds like Lemmy.

  • @Mercer1503 yea i think ur rite plus he wasnt even in the band till the nxt album

  • I still like my music straight up, I can remember it better after, saw the Hawks in 01' Had no need to shoot up.

  • @61godsend I guess you never have... too bad... just sayin....

  • this is good paint sniffing music

  • why does everybody need to drop acid to listen to Hawkwind........ Grow up

I don't need drugs to enjoy good music

  • @61godsend you weren't there

  • FANTASTIC!!!

  • GREAT TRACK.... i use to hammer my Z900 to this track......

  • All time classic.

  • Absolutely the F###ing business!!! The Lemmy movie is WELL worth a go

  • its a shame that they fired Lemmy. a big talent came to their band and they fired him cus he wanted to be at front / showed more potential. probable cus he was better looking too. but look he got motorhead now.

  • "See yourself going by" Go Lemmy GO

  • I still say whoever mixed this tune was on a really far out acid trip as it`s all over the place. I guess it fit with the psychadelic scene at the time. Really cool tune.

I,,, I just dropped some speed,,, that I got from a fiend,,, some guy named charlie sheen

  • Cool Da war Lemmy noch nicht bei Motorhead Lange ist es her aber Immer noch Geil

  • Who would have thought he was singing about riding a bike LOL

  • takes me back to my school days Playing with Pauleins massive tits at the back of the schhl dance hall. Hoooooooooooo to be back in those massive Jugs XXXXXX

  • @zoomiewoz Makes you wanna be back in the good old days when people blared Hawkwind out loud instead of this Chart stuff we have nowadays...

Okay, I'm only 17, but all we had was 60s and 70s Rock music in my house when I was growing up.

    :-D

  • @GGGriggs

    We need more of you!

  • @GGGriggs same here:)

  • @GGGriggs No offence that's awesome but we're your parents hippies? haha

  • @GGGriggs Wish I was born back then. Btw, your username has the initials of my favourite porn website LOL

  • great with headphones

  • Lemmy <3

  • Duuuuuude

  • That high pitched voice at the end reminds me of those guys who used to rush the stage at rock concerts, en route to being bundled off by the bouncers...

  • Reminds me of Neil from the 'Young Ones'...

  • @MatlockJack But Vivian wrote 'HAWKWIND' at the start of each episode. Like Hawkwind he was punk but VERY METAL!

  • Why am I not on drugs right now? I'm going to get some acid and listen to this, Vanilla Fudge's version of Eleanor Rigby, and No Quarter by Led Zeppelin. Wish me luck.

  • Ah - now where's my acid?

  • Ah now where did I put my acid\/

  • I think this is the song that destroyed me in the end lol!

  • @Kelly14UK

    bad trip?

  • @Tyme2Die Nah. I just loved drinking and smoking hash to this one haha

  • what a piece of great shit, lemmy was and is still the best.

  • my friend had alot of hawkwind CD's in the 90's. id laugh at it and be all "dude, youre friggin gay, how could you like this stupid ass ban.....HOLY SHIT I LOVE THIS PLAY MORE I SHOULD STEAL YOUR FUCKING CDS OF THESE GUYSIDONTGIVEAFUCKIFYOUCALLTHECOPSONMEFORSTEALINGTHISEITHER......ive loved hawkwind ever sinse.

  • @copsondonuts I assume you said that right as the weed was kicking in?

  • When you think "Lemmy", you think of him more as a character. But its easy to forget that he was an excellent bassist as well. Check out "down through the night too".

  • @dohertm2 And Urban Guerrilla by Hawkwind, his bassline MADE that song.

  • @bamaredd91

Deadly song - I didn't know it existed!

  • @bamaredd91

Deadly song - I didn't know it existed! Apparently mudhoney covered it.

  • @dohertm2 Yeah I read comments talking about their version but I've never heard it.

  • @dohertm2 Alien Sex Machine does a cover of it ....and it is really good it's faster ...

  • Contrary to popular belief, this song is nowt to do with motorbikes.

His silver machine is the stainless steel syringe he used to shoot up speed. Look at/listen to the lyrics, it makes perfect sense.

  • I....I just took a shit....on a silver latrine...do you think that's obscene?

  • @vorpalspaz your a cunt

  • @vorpalspaz Well, i... i just bought something to drink... from a soda machine to... quench my thirsting

  • @vorpalspaz that's pure fucking poetry man, keep it up

  • @vorpalspaz LMFAO! Nice one!

  • I like Hawkwind better than Pink Floyd and think they are a better band but Floyd got the promotion and Hawkwind was overshaddowed and should have gotten airplay I have never heard them on radio ever and I'm 44 maybe I was to young then if they did.

  • @damageplan67 I was on jet heading for London when i was 14 , Im 52 so thats in 72 they had space ritual playing on one of their channels I went straight to Carnaby street and bought a triple album space ritual still have it here . got all my mates into this stuff back here in Australia when I got home.

  • @3:33 yup, that's lemmy

  • Rockin' the Atmosphere. and up through the Heavens into outer space.

  • Brilliant takes me WAAAAY Back Love It <3

  • Gotta love that this is their biggest hit, resulting in lemmy getting the boot, jealousy is an evil thing!

  • Saw Hawkwind at Birmingham Odeon in 1975, they finished with Silver Machaine. I didn't care after watching the woman dance naked alongside the group. Anyway my Silver Machine was a 350 Kawasaki. It flew sideways thru time...

  • kai gamo ta kommatia......

  • Outstanding song.

  • Hijokaidan's version blows this out of the water.

  • @atla3x its nice if your lookin for spastic unarticulated noise!

  • @wilhoitsux and I am.

  • Released on 9 June 1972, this is an excerpt of the triple live album Glastonbury Fayre from April 1972. However, Silver machine was coupled with Welcome To The Future on the said L.P. - May (?) 72: one of Robert Calvert's song SM, taken from the "Greasy Truckers" recordings, remixed with Calvert's original vocal re-recorded by Lemmy, begins UK chart rise, eventually hitting UK #3 in July. For sure, it was one of the better 1972's song. Really great !

  • yeh man! fuck yeh! now i wanna drop a few strawbs and fly!

  • Lemmy was in HW from late 71 to mid 75.This was recorded live at the roundhouse, with bob calvert doing vox-but they were not too hot,so Lemmy re-did the vox,for the single. The original vsn can be found on the greasy truckers double cd!:).This song didnt feature on the vinyl rel of x in search of space..just the cd with bonus trks :)-Bob n Dave wrote it..Bob was writing about his bicycle!

  • @Bobertchin Me too. Can I join you? pretty please! lol

  • Saw Lemmy and Motorhead perform this live in Swansea in the early '70's. Danced my ass off. Now I've got nothing to sit on.

  • Makes Status Quo sound talented.... but i still love it!

  • Great Song. I have read the Official Biography of Iron Maiden and it says that Dave Murray and Adrian Smith Played this Song together at Home in the late Seventies. It was before Adrian joined Maiden....

  • hell yeah! good jamz

  • yo Lemmy!

  • saw them live in 71 or 72 great show and sound - the song was also at the top of the swiss pop charts which was quite strange because there live performance was far beyond every other group lightshow psychedelic diashow etc. and (hard) rocking (for that time) too.

  • The greatest punk song ever!!!

  • @Gibbster1963 what the fuck are you on mate, punk wasnt about in 72

  • Lemmy sounds like Paul Maccartney in 'Helter Skelter'. :DDDDDDDDASD

  • Einfach nur genial !!!

  • FAR OUT MAN......................

  • Brings me back to my childhood in the early 70's ...... I remember this song back then on the radio in Switzerland, but it never dawned on me until now that was Lemmy on vocals! Thanks for clearing this up!

  • One of the best albums I own to date.Dig Hawkwind, dig Lemmy, love Motorhead, maybe if more people took 5 minutes out of their day to listen to a song like this, everyone wouldn't be so damn up tight.Great post, spread the music to the next generation.

  • @m60fly i couldnt agree more mate = )

  • Good band...

So it takes a REAL man to smoke ABSOLUTE Capstan death instead of those puny American Marlboro cancer sticks sptfgpn?

Thats funny as hell! As if it makes him some kind of REAL man. Luckily that rotten shit doesnt ruin the bands sound.

  • Spacey. Quality song and a fantastic example of space rock

  • Seeing them on Thursday, can't wait...

  • where they playing?

  • there is some vocal in that reverb

  • Love Hawkwind...seen em live loads of times during the 80's...saw em at Stonehenge in '82....awesome live band

  • Lemmys young singing voice is great in hawkwind

  • @Metalfanseries yeah... this bands definetly kicks major ass... Peace!

  • This is befor he smoked 40 malboros a day. Lemmy is fucking awesome!!

  • I have it on good authority that he only ever smokes Capstan full strength. Furthermore, he believes Marlboros to be a wimp's smoke.

  • according to the recent rolling stones interview its marb reds

  • so awesome this shit. but if you never get high you might not feel it as much. but these are lemmys trippy days. he was a legend long before motorhead.

  • KINGS OF ROCK!!!

  • Saw them in 71 awesome

  • i wish i saw em in 71 :(

  • Wow this sounds nothing like how Lemmy sounds nowadays still a great song though

  • Wow ... Mr Von Motörhead sounds a lot different now.

  • Just different types of songs really!

  • Regardless, his voice has really changed :P

Rock and Metal. The only two umbrella genres where drinking, smoking, and abusing your throat leaves you with a decent sounding voice :P

  • check out Sam Gopal and The Rockin Vicars for more of Lemmy

  • great song!

  • This thing has a drive, especially when the drums get in at the beginning.. Great!
