DanFrederiksen - This is a rough draft. I have already doubled the complexity of the details for the next draft and yes, I plan to render the final model in vray, or another equivalent. Thanks!
Interiors never match exteriors (or models) because the interior set needs to accommodate lights, booms, cameras, crew etc. The inside of the Falcon just isn't big enough for that.
then again, if the interior and exterior had always fit perfectly and left no room for debate, we might not still be obsessing over it 30+ years later.
The big problem with the Falcon is the movie made it impossible to actually fit the Falcon inside itself. To that end, I don't consider the original ANH Falcon to be canon, since it was later retconned. ESB on, it has 5 landing struts (7 if you count the rear 2 as 4, since they basically are) and the overall dimensions of the ship have been redone over and over until, apparently, 2008, when Lucas declared the final dimensions were 35x25 meters, which finally leaves enough room in and out.
@ 9112274 whatever's to the left has never been canonically established, as far as I'm concerned. Ostensibly it leads to the engines, and many cross sections and fan-made plans has it leading to various engineering stations and cargo areas. As for this model, I tried to stick to what shows up in the existing trilogy only.
@ JONASSOMFAN I guess you can have it, over Han's dead body...
@finfito what about the engine area, where they make the repairs in episode 5, where leia and han have there kiss, and what about the room with the beds, where they put luke after he fights darth vader in episode 5? and what about the roof hatch that lando goes up in to retrieve luke after he fights darth in episode 5? none the less, a good video with all the essentiels of episode 4, cheers mate.
Terrific! I attempted to do the same a few years back using Google Sketchup but decided to produce it as if it really WERE to be made. I essentially had to re-do the dimensions, of course there is no real blue print to scale of the whole ship and most of my saucer work and cockpit (mines no where near as good as yours)have been lost but the landing gear are still on my computer. I may just share them on Google Sketchup... Outstanding!!!
The insides don't even remotely fit. I had to use movie magic to reconcile it all. When the camera tracks up the ramp, the exterior model is hidden, and the interior unhidden, then all is reversed as the camera leaves the ship

The animation is very well done.

Great work, although always wondered where the toilet is... Han, Chewie and Co. must be absolutely touching cloth when they land in Mos Eisley
