Im trying to find a good horizontal holster. Evidently webtac stopped production so does anyone have any opinions. Im not interested in the thigh holsters btw.
@ThunderGunExpress a few days ago i did order from their website, they had knee pads on closeout for $10 i put in coupon code nutnfancy and got free shipping i just received them they are military grade awesome knee pads to my door for $10 so they are still in business some what i hope they pick themselves up they have really good stuff i also have their cross draw vest. For now get the knee pads what a deal!
Good review. I don't like the hoop fabric and snap inside the holster. I would buy the holster if they changed these 2 issues however, as I would put the holster on the right side of my vest, fairly low where it would be similar to a hip-mounted holster, and still would be part of a one stop zip-up system. If they changed these issues, would you consider running your system with this pseudo hip-mounted holster, for testing purposes?
Nutnfancy, the OE Tech/Condor quick release holster is the better version of this, it has a double retention strap when needed but still hsa a simple way of getting it out. You might want to check that out. It is a thigh holster however, so therefore not horizontal but I still like it.
I like those Tac-Force holsters. They seem to not be in production anymore (they are not on the website). Shame, too, I was wanting one of them. I really like the slim profile, too.
I recently bought some Condor gear, the open top AR mag pouches fit my Glock 26 nicely. I can't run that with the other mag in the front--won't fit--but it's a great system.
Horizontal holsters are not that safe if you ask me. If I am next to somebody and drawing their gun in a high stress situation I'd be alittle worried. I would want the muzzle down. Just me.
Thanks for the vid nutn but i wanted to know of a left handed holster thats like the tac force? im left handed n need a good holster but simple like the tac force and cheap! ive been lookin' around but cant seem to find anything. help? lol
Great vid again Nutn'... and a shout out to Veri, keepin' TNP going smooth. Nutn' you should do some more vids on Blackhawk Tactical gear, just a suggestion, if your preoccupied I totally understand.
@takebackthepower I have been looking all over too, ebay doesn't even have anything. I sent tac-force an email today and will gladly share the results when i hear back from them.
@hyde0970 Thanks for looking out! I emailed them a while back telling them to make more. I don't get why they stopped, seems like a lot of people want it.
so the totally awesome TacForce holster....... IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND! TacForce themselves are sold out, no luck on ebay, google shopping, or amazon!.......... wanna sell one of yours nut'n? lol
@recon501 "Ballistic nylon" was thick, durable nylon that predated the invention of kevlar. It wasn't made to stop bullets, but could stop shrapnel to a degree. It's not used for protection anymore, but it's still very high quality nylon. Hope that answers your question.
Haha, one more thing. I have no problem with securing/snapping-in my handgun with one hand. I will admit though, that the retention straps are a little stiff since the holster is new, but I'm sure after a good break in period, this problem will go away :)
While I agree with your sentiment about the metal retention snap possibly scratching up your piece as you holster and un-holster it, it seems that in this video you had the velcro retention straps placed to high for the particular handgun you had. I positioned mine with the included stand-off tool and the slide of handgun has proper clearance from the metal snap. The polymer frame on most my handguns are pretty resilient to the minor "scratching" that can be potentially induced by the snap.
You know, you can pretty much turn any vertical MOLLE attachable holster into a horizontal mounted holster by using Blackhawk Speed Clips or Condor MOD Straps.
@bigswan61 get some Blackhawk speed clips or Condor MOD straps and voila! You can now mount any MOLLE vertical holster like the 5.11 LBE holster, horizontally :)
Lol this is the first thing ive tried tried to buy right after the video. ive bought plenty of things you have reviewed but none right after and i cant find it anywhere i need that tac force lol but i think i might run a serpu more money but cant find the other
Have you considered using a Kydex holster secured within the TacForce holster? The TacForce is a great holster particularly for the money, but I hate having to use two hands to reholster . Kydex is rock solid in retention truly one hand reholstering . I have been experimenting with a Dale Fricke kydex holster in one... haven't completely gotten how I want to attach yet, but I love the function. Regard, twodogstx
Am gonna have to disagree with you here man, you can easily close up the tac force clip one handed. As with anything it takes practice and repetition to get there, I have not done it at near the stress levels you are running but I think it just boils down to timing.
You should be able to yank the attachment straps out, and if you can do that you'll be able to switch the female clasp side, as well as change it to a more amenable position. Just a suggestion.
nutnfancy has the best reviews I watch all of his videos and he seems like a great guy with high family values and common sense. I wonder if he would let a TSA agent record nude images of his children or wife or touch his children or wife in the groin area while he watched? I would love to know nutnfancy's view on the new TSA rules as regards full body x-rays that see through clothing or as the TSA puts it an enhanced pat down.
Personally, I like the fact that it's adjustable on the inside, but not with that built in scraper on the side. That notwithstanding, there's nothing much other than the colors that I like about this unit. You're right, nobody gets everything right all the time, but this model looks like it was designed after a few too many brewskies. Maybe it's inside out. lol! I love their TacLite Pro pants, though. Got 4 pairs!
Hi to you, Veri, long time no talk. Hope all is well with you & yours.
I caught in the video that you mentioned BoTach Tactical, It's quite amazing that you actually received your product haha. I purchased a Cold Steel blade and it never came, then I'd realized by investigation that BoTach was a scam.
it'll take some time (I know it's hard to come by) and effort, but you could remove and switch the location of the fast clip pieces the male end looks like it could simply be threaded off the strap, and it seems as though the female end would have to be cut out for the male end to be sewn back in. I've personally done this with several holsters and it allows the right hand to disengage the clasp, move the strap away with the palm of the open hand as you swipe across to draw the weapon.
Some advice from someone who uses this style retention device every day with my duty holster. Move the inner strap (the thumbreak portion) a little deeper into the holster. The compression of the pistol to the snap to the sideway keeps the pistol right where you want it, in the holster. Also i can atttest to the fact that those double mag pouches work excelently if you need a quick budget holster. Used mine in Iraq alot if i didnt feel like strapping my serpa.
@TNPxRadioactive Hey, you seem knowledgeable- Tac Force holster there wouldn't be the best in combat zone, would it? Two handed opening just doesn't seem efficient.
@Sheva005 The tac force is 1 hand open but 2 hand close, the major drawback to a clip retention system, and a reason i prefer vertical carry, if i need to quickly or temp. stow my pistol i can do so without even retaining, just let gravity take hold, i.e. to throw smoke, adjust a pad, traverse a small obstacle. neither way is correct or incorrect. its whatever your style is. i also prefer drop leg over vest carry but vest carry is best for vehicle operations.
WOW IM WATCHING THIS VIDEO..... IT MEANS I MUST BE VERY BORED, OR I DONT HAVE ANYTHING CONSTRUCTIVE TO DO ! Ok, this is a comment QUEST. Press thumbs up so many times as you can !
@Kytonite I'll also add from a soldiers perspective, understanding our casualty rates and reasons, the idea is excellent and worth a small level of wearer discomfort for the added benefit(assuming that they would be mildly awkword to wear, i dont know)
I used 550 cord to orient my 511 LBE holster horizontally. It is secure and I can use one hand (my right thumb) to unclasp the button snap and draw my CZ75Sp01.
The drawback:
It was a huge pain to thread that 550 cord through the MOLLE loops in the way I wanted.
Good review, that holster is dog crap. If I was running the place & a designer even came up with a piece of crap like that he'd be OUT! I can do better with duct tape & a flippin sock in 10 minutes.
Great vid bro with some decent comparisons. Thanks for the idea of the AR-mag styled "holster". I might just use that as a cheaper stop gap for the time being.
In my opinion, next time you guys decided to come up with something new.... I would highly recommend you contact Nutnfancy. I am sure you guys have meeting where you have a bunch of people sit down and share their ideas. As you can tell you kinda had a miss with the 5.11 LBE. I love 5.11 and I will still buy your products but I bet you that if you let Nutnfancy give you his point of view/input on what is needed, you will sell more stuff and you save time and money.

can't you get in touch with them and recommend the "misses" you don't like and ask them to or suggest they make changes or even build a new horizontal holster
Another great video, Nutn. I really appreciate the honesty. You've brought up some great points for and against each holster that will certainly help viewers in their decision to purchase this type of gear. When money is tight in times like this, you're a true blessing to have around!
But Nutin! if you put your gun in your Mag pouch where you carry your burritos??
lol
Seriously though, I have one of the 5.11 holsters and as it works great for what I use it for, I only had it for about a month with very little use and the snap on the retention snap broke! what a dump!
Agree, I bought one when they were first release and have yet to use it in the field. All your points are my same reasons for not strapping it on. I felt bad for buying it and even began to think I should buy another gun to run. I did, PX4 Storm Sub w/Viridian Light C5l, and it still didn't sit right in the 5.11 Holster.
i also agree on all the points you made on this holster. I bought 2 of them just to see. They don't fit handguns with any lights on them, they're bulky and i kinda dislike the velcro material on the inside.
is there a coupon code for lapolicegear? I frequent their site a lot and there's a TON of stuff i want to get. Mostly 5.11 stuff. I'd totally drop a few bills on their site if there was a coupon.
i love your vid's and no i don't make my own yet (some people can't)! i still hate the way you draw your pistol's your using an extra muscle to draw when you don't have to!
Great review nutn, how would you feel about riding the 5.11 in a MOLLE cummerbund on your chest rig? It will still run vertical which I understand you don't like, but personally I feel like the retention on the 5.11 is superior to the tac-force as it is one handed and quick. Just a suggestion brother, God bless.
Can't help but wounder if you were to bring the strap with the female snap button higher than the male snap button pretty much changing the opening angle but making it easier to open one handed and to stop the metal to metal contact with the firearm. Also getting reverse valcro pieces to make the inside walls more padded and making it less pron to crud build-up. I'm getting one of 5.11s vests soon. I'll get the holster along with it and see what happens. Shooting a dead horse.. Maybe. TNP RULES!
I own the 5.11, 3 in 1 jacket and I love it except for the gawd damn zipper.. it hangs up on me ALL the time! I may not buy another one unless they've fixed it.
Awesome vid, great data points. Hope they make some changes to that holster. 5.11 gear, in general, is awesome and just a few key changes could make it one of he best holsters of it's kind on the market. Way to keep it honest!
i think if you took a lighter to the inside it would be some what fine, but why should you have to do that. in the military we always modify everything. a holster that came right would save time.
Bullseye with the review Nutn. I have a 5.11 LBE for my SIg 2022 and it hasn't been good. It doesn't work well with US Military MOLLE for some reason. I had it on one of the standard-issue drop down extenders and the entire holster flew off during a run-n-gun...twice. Retention strap failed both times as the holster hit the ground and the gun bounced out. (found out that even with the hammer cocked and a round in the chamber, it wouldn't accidentally discharge:) It seems to work with 5.11 MOLLE
Thanks for keeping this one real Nutn. I have a tough time with "universal holsters," just my preference, but I prefer something that is made for my handguns. 5.11 makes great gear, and you of anyone has acknowledged that, but you hit the nail on the head in this review. Thanks!
The 5.11 is a lot like my uncle mike's molle holster, which is a maelstrom of velcro. I do like it because I can use the same holster with or without my light. Any change of pistol or configuration is a complete disassembly of the holster. Holster is expandable, you can attach a bunch of mag pouches or a small knife or other accessory besides whats on your LBE if you have it on your hip. I have that plate carrier as well it does rock- SUPER comfortable and I'm a kinda big guy.
Just my 2 cents...bought the WebTac holster & didn't care for it. Two reasons: 1) if you don't have a chest rig/plate carrier, you're putting the holster on one side of your vest. I've got the OD 5.11 LBE. If the holster is placed on the first available 4 rows wide of molle on your chest, you're covering the buckle to the vest. 2) w/ a loaded G23, the holster seems to sag away from the vest even when properly woven. I picked up the Blackhawk Serpa w/ molle rig & love it. Far more options.
I would have said the fastex style buckle was one handed. Use your right hand, press the buckle release and then pull the strap towards the right and index to the gun grip. All one action with one hand.
March 2011 I'll be getting a long rifle... Yep. Can't wait, got any recomendation TNP? I think I'll go with some kind of a Model 700 by Remington with a McMillan stock and Maybe a smidt and Bender optics.
@TheDishD Love Rems, like ALOT, but I also have a likeing for a Savage bolt gun in 308. My grandad had picked one up a few years back for around $350 w/scope. He has never realy liked polymer guns, but he also has ZERO desire to get rid of his Savage, so that's saying alot.
@Trigunnie45 i hear ya bro, i have a savage Mrk3 .22 bolt as well great gun wont get rid of it, daughter is going to learn to shoot on it. take care bud.
@TheDishD Awesome, she will be quite the marksmen ("marksperson?" 0.o) when she gets older. I am hopeing to train my neice to shoot when she is old enough. (and when I finally convince her mother to let me.) :D
I have no idea how I'm going to get my sis's permission to teach her daughter to shoot. It took me years just to convince her to come shooting wit me. 9 out of 10 clay pigeons at 50 meters, she shoots better than me.(wit the shotgun anyway.)
@Trigunnie45 ta, have you seen Snowlobo's BB Run and Gun vid?, check it out and then show it to your sister and tell her that you'll start your neice on BB's (which is a realy good way to get lil1's started and great Xmas present, no excuses then) plus BB's dont seem to freak mum's out too much, well most of the time'! hope that helps bro.
Btw alot of women are great natural shooters, be out shot myself by a cple of "first time" ladies.. scary when you think about it =]
Where did the horizontal Blackhawk chest high on a vest start? I haven't tried it yet, but the 'Seal' team member on the new Hawaii 5-0 was using that set up.
@nutnfancy yeah thats not nice!!! but have you seen his tactical tv remote pouch?? its awesome went and picked my one up for my tv tactical loadout vest! i got a bandolier that holds my snacks and a holster underneath my tv dinner table!! im prepared to say the least!!
Nice review, Nutn'! Been running a Tac-Force Cross-Draw Vest for about a year now(Really like it). It has the same design holster mounted on it. Way to keep it real! keep up the great work and keep sharing the knowledge!!!
ran outa room. Im not saying his data points are wrong cause they are right. just emphasizing to my fellow tnp-ers that, as nutn says, "Your mileage may very" You guys are awesome, keep up the great vids.
@TNPxRadioactive Precicely, your mileage may very. So many trolls have come out and claim that Nutn is saying that horizontal is the ONLY way to go and more lies. When he clearly stated that he Prefers the Horizontal holster. Good comment mate.
Luv the honesty Nutn. Nutn says that this doesnt work "for him". I rarely vest carry but when i do i prefer vertical. I also have ALOT of prectice with that style retention as it is the same as my duty holster and can easily one handed operate, i dont care if my gun gets scratches so long as the system works, and i live in PA (we got dirt but not really dust), and i only desinate my 226 as my gtw gun(no resizing). for a tac rig and If i were in the market this holster would likely work for me.
aye great vid but as far as having a weapon mounted light i highly doubt it. i have a ruger p95 (thanx 2 your review) with an streamlight tlr-3 also courtesy of you and it was a no go. anyway later bro and god bless
Thanks Nutn, I was on the fence with the 5.11 holster. Just couldn't get myself to commit without knowing your thoughts on it. You haven't steered me wrong yet and all I want to say is thanks for all that you and your team at The NutnFancy Project.
great review. i seen that 511 holster at a gun show and the first thing i noticed was the snap that would scratch the gun. i put the holster down but bought a 511 dump pouch that i love.
Dude I wish this video came out 6months ago. I bought this holster and I agree it sucks! Thanks for saving my fellow TNPrs the headache. You are totally right on all your points and some I hadn't even thought about. I hate this holster more now.
They don't seem to make these anymore, anyone know where I could fnd one?

the only thing i'd like to see, is a 45 degree mounting for it.

Sheva005 1 year ago
@Sheva005 The tac force is 1 hand open but 2 hand close, the major drawback to a clip retention system, and a reason i prefer vertical carry, if i need to quickly or temp. stow my pistol i can do so without even retaining, just let gravity take hold, i.e. to throw smoke, adjust a pad, traverse a small obstacle. neither way is correct or incorrect. its whatever your style is. i also prefer drop leg over vest carry but vest carry is best for vehicle operations.

@Kytonite I'll also add from a soldiers perspective, understanding our casualty rates and reasons, the idea is excellent and worth a small level of wearer discomfort for the added benefit(assuming that they would be mildly awkword to wear, i dont know)

Making the 5.11 holster work:
I used 550 cord to orient my 511 LBE holster horizontally. It is secure and I can use one hand (my right thumb) to unclasp the button snap and draw my CZ75Sp01.
The drawback:
It was a huge pain to thread that 550 cord through the MOLLE loops in the way I wanted.

Attention 5.11
In my opinion, next time you guys decided to come up with something new.... I would highly recommend you contact Nutnfancy. I am sure you guys have meeting where you have a bunch of people sit down and share their ideas. As you can tell you kinda had a miss with the 5.11 LBE. I love 5.11 and I will still buy your products but I bet you that if you let Nutnfancy give you his point of view/input on what is needed, you will sell more stuff and you save time and money.
Thanks.

Another great video, Nutn. I really appreciate the honesty. You've brought up some great points for and against each holster that will certainly help viewers in their decision to purchase this type of gear. When money is tight in times like this, you're a true blessing to have around!
dillon157 1 year ago
also, apparently Tac Force no longer makes that holster.. its unavailable EVERYWHERE!!
HardcoreSlot 1 year ago
But Nutin! if you put your gun in your Mag pouch where you carry your burritos??
lol
Seriously though, I have one of the 5.11 holsters and as it works great for what I use it for, I only had it for about a month with very little use and the snap on the retention snap broke! what a dump!
HardcoreSlot 1 year ago
Agree, I bought one when they were first release and have yet to use it in the field. All your points are my same reasons for not strapping it on. I felt bad for buying it and even began to think I should buy another gun to run. I did, PX4 Storm Sub w/Viridian Light C5l, and it still didn't sit right in the 5.11 Holster.
acuet 1 year ago
i also agree on all the points you made on this holster. I bought 2 of them just to see. They don't fit handguns with any lights on them, they're bulky and i kinda dislike the velcro material on the inside.
808Arsenal 1 year ago
is there a coupon code for lapolicegear? I frequent their site a lot and there's a TON of stuff i want to get. Mostly 5.11 stuff. I'd totally drop a few bills on their site if there was a coupon.
808Arsenal 1 year ago
i love your vid's and no i don't make my own yet (some people can't)! i still hate the way you draw your pistol's your using an extra muscle to draw when you don't have to!
Killahofosho 1 year ago
Great review nutn, how would you feel about riding the 5.11 in a MOLLE cummerbund on your chest rig? It will still run vertical which I understand you don't like, but personally I feel like the retention on the 5.11 is superior to the tac-force as it is one handed and quick. Just a suggestion brother, God bless.
tacticalhillbilly 1 year ago
Can't help but wounder if you were to bring the strap with the female snap button higher than the male snap button pretty much changing the opening angle but making it easier to open one handed and to stop the metal to metal contact with the firearm. Also getting reverse valcro pieces to make the inside walls more padded and making it less pron to crud build-up. I'm getting one of 5.11s vests soon. I'll get the holster along with it and see what happens. Shooting a dead horse.. Maybe. TNP RULES!
jdork87 1 year ago
I own the 5.11, 3 in 1 jacket and I love it except for the gawd damn zipper.. it hangs up on me ALL the time! I may not buy another one unless they've fixed it.
markshmily 1 year ago
Awesome vid, great data points. Hope they make some changes to that holster. 5.11 gear, in general, is awesome and just a few key changes could make it one of he best holsters of it's kind on the market. Way to keep it honest!
thedefinitive 1 year ago
i think if you took a lighter to the inside it would be some what fine, but why should you have to do that. in the military we always modify everything. a holster that came right would save time.

(found out that even with the hammer cocked and a round in the chamber, it wouldn't accidentally discharge:) It seems to work with 5.11 MOLLE
byrdman2025 1 year ago
i dont even have a tactical vest of any kind at the current moment but because of him i really dig and want a tac force horizontal holster
131rocketman 1 year ago
Thanks for keeping this one real Nutn. I have a tough time with "universal holsters," just my preference, but I prefer something that is made for my handguns. 5.11 makes great gear, and you of anyone has acknowledged that, but you hit the nail on the head in this review. Thanks!
Seppish1 1 year ago
The 5.11 is a lot like my uncle mike's molle holster, which is a maelstrom of velcro. I do like it because I can use the same holster with or without my light. Any change of pistol or configuration is a complete disassembly of the holster. Holster is expandable, you can attach a bunch of mag pouches or a small knife or other accessory besides whats on your LBE if you have it on your hip. I have that plate carrier as well it does rock- SUPER comfortable and I'm a kinda big guy.
MisterAvis 1 year ago
