It's funny how Gene and Paul talk about how Ace just stop growing as a musician due to the drugs, but thats clearly blown out of the water when you listen to all of the solo albums. Ace just stop growing as a member of KISS and wanted out.

@sabbath7 The truth about ace walking out was because of the direction the band was going in. It started with Destroyer, Ace wasn't in the studio and they brought in another person for God of thunder, they didn't think ace was a very good song writer,they were making him cut his leads short. Not Filming or marketing Ace and Peter as much.  They started being more about image than music. Then Disco, unmasked,and the Elder was the final straw. I can't Really blame him. The Elder sucked.

His band (who were sharp) held the show together. In his prime, Ace was incredible, but it's not 1978 anymore, folks! Tommy Thayer can play the licks, has written with KISS before, and is STABLE, unlike Ace, who is a business/personal disaster waiting to happen..... again!

2)Paul - pretty damn good.

3)Peter - As a teen back then I didn't like it, now I appreciate it. Good luck Cat Man on your new album. Just bought it. Sounds really good.

4)Gene - His solo album was one degree above a piece of crap. "Radioactive" and "Man of a Thousand Faces" were the only descent songs. The rest were pathetic remakes.
