Anything where you get a phisical copy should be paid for. I agree with taking mega upload down because of the Kiddy porn but sharing music and video online is no different than going to the library and taking out 100 cds I want to copy every day or 2. Why should one be legal (the library method) and one be illegal (the digital library of all knowlege ever)
major corporations should focus their effort to beat piracy other ways. Us is not the biggest piracy downloader and thats because for some countries thats the only way we have to be able to play/watch/read/hear copyrighted material.
@clipsosucks , for example my country Colombia, psp console which is one i have to pirate here because there is no way i can do it legally, distribution of games here is awful and overpriced i cant find a psp game here for under 50$ most of them go for 60$ - 70$ and the game selection is awful, even if i search every game store here there is no way im going to find games like tactis ogre because simply they dont sell them here, things like playstation store are not available to my country
@clipsosucks and even if every they were prices for games even if they were same as the us prices wages on my country are way lower for people to be able to purchase them, i work in a english/spanish callcenter and i make 2$ per hour, and my job actually pays really good for my country making 500$ per month, minimum wage here is just for 250$ per month. if corporations focus this kind of weakness with better distribution and prices for countries like mine they would stop alot of piracy acts
I would also like to point out that they also found Child Pornography and Talbian/Al Queda propaganda videos on Megaupload. Finding child porn on it is enough of a reason to shut it down, in my opinion.

This isn’t the problem with SOPA and PIPA. It's the level of surveillance that they would allow. The copyright laws at the moment aren’t great but you can get them to work. Megaupload is proof of this.
The thing is that things like games. music, movies, etc... are "cultural content", and one of the human rights is to have acces to cultural content am I right? So, my point is that those contents should be FREE for everyone in order to become a more cultured society. With this I mean that you could always pay whatever you want for something. If you want to pay 200$ for a game to support companyes, you can do it, but someone who doesn't have the money should have the right to use it too.

They could just take the profit from theatre and next year make the movie free online, If its already paid for itself. @nextgentactics THE Megaupload thing is dear to me because IVE been a member now for almost 6 years. IVE beein paying an average of 10 dollars a month to download faster. And i got over 1000 songs, and 400 movies. And i dont see anything wrong with it. Ive put in over 600 dollars, and that should cover what i got, no where did Megaupload say that what and other paid wasnt going to the "artist" So if they come after me they will have a fight, my 600 dollar paid for the music and movies i have.

I personally don't use ad blocker in order to support my favourite YouTubers like NGT, TotalBisuit, the Yogscast and many more that do a great job and also depend on people watching ads on their videos because it is their job. Disable it for YouTube, to support people you love:)

In canada it isnt illegal to download for personal use, having said that its not legal either but as long as your not distributing and only using for personal use then its just frowned upon.

While I disapprove of SOPA/PIPA, I also disapprove of piracy, not only for ethical reasons but for practical reasons. I *can* download stuff for free, as can other heavy gamers. Now, if piracy is so easy, why would any heavyweight gamer pay 60$ for a game that they can get for free. Thus, the only people who end up buying the game legitly are the noob gamers. Now who do you thing games are going to be catered to, the heavy-weights or the noobs? We end up fucking ourselves in the long run.
Ok to all the misinformed people out there talking about Megaupload, there is a reason they were taken down. The reason is because they were gonna launch a new service that would make deals with artists by offering music to everyone for free to combat piracy and in which they get mega profit from advertisements. Big corps didn't want this and took them down before it happened. Tyranny, enough said.
I think that most people would be willing to pay for sites like mega upload on a monthly basis, and would also be willing to watch ads for a few seconds before their show/movie starts. I don't think people have a need to get everything for free, they just want TV and Movies on demand, and they don't want to pay for each one individually. Netflix is a good start, but their selection sucks. Mega upload had EVERYTHING, even movies that were in theaters. We need that kind of selection to thrive.

except that you aren't familiar with 3rd world countries situation. Most games are priced so high isn't only because the development costing is high, but mostly because of the amount of advertisment etc they have to go through. These extra cost are not going to charged in the countries the ad are in, it is set to a more or less global pricing.
@etismyname If you can't afford to buy a video game in a 3rd world country because you don't have enough money, then you shouldn't have a console OR internet. Go buy some food. Case closed, problem solved. It's harsh and I don't agree with poverty by any means, but making this case is ridiculous.
I am not talking about extreme poverty, I am talking about those lower to middle class in 3rd world country. They can afford a console and a few games every once a while, but what's the biggest problem at the moment? DLC, Short of content games, 5 hours game length etc. they aren't living in a country where games are set at their living standard price. They aren't like you, they don't get "other games" if this one isn't a good one, they have to pick one and hope for the best.
@NextGenTactics Many believe that digital media is overpriced because of media pirates, however I would argue that piracy increases as prices increase or content/quality decreases. It is a form of overflow pipe which is another preventative measure in giving the customers back their power. There is no such thing as "lost profit", and if a game is worth it, people will pay for it. If something is a rip off then they lose more profit from their own greed
@NextGenTactics I also understand that "innocent" developers are hurt in midst of this, however the prices of games have increased much more than taxes (so no excuse), and games (such as MW3) that take a year to make are charging the same price for it as games that take half a decade (Skyrim)

You can buy music, or get it for free. It's not as much "stealing" as it is, taking, and putting musicians efforts to waste. Though it fits the definition of "stealing" It's not... criminal like, It's not Aggressive etc. We download music because It's out there for free. Though it may not be ours. People are guaranteed free music without con's of any sort, so why not download it? I will buy an album of a band I like to support them, but on average I will download free music.

I really like this series, Spider. Feels like Gunnshop + gameplay and finally we're seeing some MW3-gameplay from NGT again. I'd also like to see BF3-gameplay in the future if possible.
So far, this year, I've only downloaded 2 book torrents (for classes) and I actually own a physical copy of 1 of them, it's just I prefer a laptop than a heavy backpack. that was a great video i have seen videos just talking about sopa and what its done but none that actualy have talked about whats in place whats happeneing and things that could and shouldn't be done. Just a great video and i find a good solution to people making multible youtube acounts is to make a system that records the ip adress of blacklisted acounts and when new acounts are made or acounts that are currently up with that blacklisted id are automaticly shut down.

This isn’t the problem with SOPA and PIPA. It's the level of surveillance that they would allow. The copyright laws at the moment aren’t great but you can get them to work. Megaupload is proof of this.

The thing is that things like games. music, movies, etc... are "cultural content", and one of the human rights is to have acces to cultural content am I right? So, my point is that those contents should be FREE for everyone in order to become a more cultured society. With this I mean that you could always pay whatever you want for something. If you want to pay 200$ for a game to support companyes, you can do it, but someone who doesn't have the money should have the right to use it too.

While I disapprove of SOPA/PIPA, I also disapprove of piracy, not only for ethical reasons but for practical reasons. I *can* download stuff for free, as can other heavy gamers. Now, if piracy is so easy, why would any heavyweight gamer pay 60$ for a game that they can get for free. Thus, the only people who end up buying the game legitly are the noob gamers. Now who do you thing games are going to be catered to, the heavy-weights or the noobs? We end up fucking ourselves in the long run.

The reason is because they were gonna launch a new service that would make deals with artists by offering music to everyone for free to combat piracy and in which they get mega profit from advertisements. I think that most people would be willing to pay for sites like mega upload on a monthly basis, and would also be willing to watch ads for a few seconds before their show/movie starts. I don't think people have a need to get everything for free, they just want TV and Movies on demand, and they don't want to pay for each one individually. Netflix is a good start, but their selection sucks. Mega upload had EVERYTHING, even movies that were in theaters. We need that kind of selection to thrive.

Most games are priced so high isn't only because the development costing is high, but mostly because of the amount of advertisment etc they have to go through. These extra cost are not going to charged in the countries the ad are in, it is set to a more or less global pricing.

It is a form of overflow pipe which is another preventative measure in giving the customers back their power. There is no such thing as "lost profit", and if a game is worth it, people will pay for it. If something is a rip off then they lose more profit from their own greed

You can buy music, or get it for free. It's not as much "stealing" as it is, taking, and putting musicians efforts to waste. Though it fits the definition of "stealing" It's not... criminal like, It's not Aggressive etc. We download music because It's out there for free. Though it may not be ours. People are guaranteed free music without con's of any sort, so why not download it? I will buy an album of a band I like to support them, but on average I will download free music.
