At 0:46 in the video, you can see one protester pick up a barricade and approach the police. It's highly unlikely this protester was just looking for a seat in the middle of a teargas cloud. He threw that barricade, just as police claimed.

We really need to hire about 40-60 people to do a mock protest for each academy group. Classroom time followed by a realistic simulation is always the highest quality training, I find. UPS is a school for upper middle class kids with indulgent parents who were too unremarkable to go to a more demanding school. In your description, you said no barricades were thrown, Acumensch. At 0:38 in the video, you can see displaced barricades. At 0:46 in the video, you can see one protester pick up a barricade and approach the police. It's highly unlikely this protester was just looking for a seat in the middle of a teargas cloud. He threw that barricade, just as police claimed.

They were given lawful orders to disperse. They failed to comply. The fact that the road isnt busy doesnt matter. the right to peacably assemble does not include blocking roads or causing disturbances like a child throwing a tantrum in the toy isle. They were warned repeatedly, and the fact that the "medics" were present indicated they wanted a confrontation.

They were quite literally impeding on military affairs directly, which literally is like them going down to Iraq and forming a blockade around US troop emplacements. Correct...the police were there to disperse an illegal blockage of a public road. The protesters chose to have a confrontation instead of being productive students and or part of the workforce. Police always get the blame for enforcing the very same laws politicians created (and sometimes the general public itself). Police should never be in the position to choose if a person is guilty of a crime or "overlook" crimes. People do have control of what policies are created. Whether they are hippies, pro-war marchers you may have the right to assemble but not to break the traffic laws.

We really need to hire about 40-60 people to do a mock protest for each academy group. Classroom time followed by a realistic simulation is always the highest quality training, I find. But the problem is, some people think they have "rights" that do not exist. There is no Constitutional right to sit down on a roadway that is designated by the Law for automobile traffic. Actions that inherently violate the Law are not "peaceable". If the Law is wrong, we have this thing called Court. Right?

You can't block roadways or shipments even if you are protesting. Sorry, but that's life, and a reasonable law... and that's what happens if you try it two feet in front of a group of police officers.
Whoever was organizing/leading the protesters to block the road failed everyone there that otherwise was protesting legitimately. And the protesters that advanced on the cops, including one you can clearly see picking up a barricade, ensured an epic fail.
