In the first anime, The hotel in the coal town was burnt up. Edward then used alchemy to repair it and make it new out of the ashes, why can't he do the same with the library?

I think it's because he needs to know the exact structure and contents of everything he repairs with an alchemical formulae.

He can do wood and coal, but he if did with the library he might accidentally remake all the books without the ink, or the ink in all the wrong places but in the right amounts.

Remember, he said he has to be careful when re-putting together Al when damaged, because if he gets the transmutation wrong the Blood Seal vanishes: imagine that with all the ink.

Well aside from the fact that the Homonculi aren't flesh and blood in the way people are, so normal muscle mechanics probably don't apply to them, silverback gorillas are also pretty fast (much faster then humans oftentimes) and many are strong enough to lift well over a thousand pounds, and they look kinda chubby actually: all the muscle is in the limbs.
