the death scene was a last min change too! They were already filming the last scene but Doug Naylor wasn't happy with it, so he arrived in the next morning, with this re-write with Death. They had nobody to play that part and so the director Ed Bye put on the costume....

i think this would have been the perfect end to the series, totally telling us who he is as a character and the show in general. you couldnt ask for a better ending. of course, i loved back to earth, so im not complaining about getting more. just thought that it was genious.

ach! am i the only one disappointed by this ending? i mean it's alright, but it isn't up to the standard of earlier Red Dwarf. Series 7 and 8 were a let down on the whole, and this ending sorta sums of the deterieration of it.
