The guitar sucks, violins are not that good, and the global mixing doesn't make justice to the music - but to me the bass and the trumpet are pretty good !
@Frenzouille Wow, THE Frenzouille from the world-famous... uh, wait, what recording studio should we know your work from? What score was it that you composed and arranged?
Let's see... Yasunori Mitsuda had just conned Square into letting him score the Chrono Trigger soundtrack from being known for nothing more than sound effects and sat down at the mixing board to create a live album for the first time in his life. And it was 1995 in Japan. But yeah, this should have been way better, right?
I must say that I never cared about jazz, even being a musician. But, when I heard this first song and, in the same day, the music "Tank!" from the Seatbelts (opening music for the Cowboy bebop series), i became a fan of the genre.
These single two songs made me search, listen, and like musicians like Charlie Parker, Nat King Cole and Art Blakey. Thank you Mistuda!
If you are looking for a similar trumpet style... you could look at Randy Brecker (Look up "Some Skunk Funk Brecker Brothers" It was a group of Randy with his brother, Michael, back when he was alive (he died around 2007 or 2008.) Randy still does some stuff, played with Jaco Pastorious in his Word of Mouth group.
i remember listening to the power station in my town, they had this song playing in the background while the radio DJ talked about current events. really cool
@pappasman360 Chrono Trigger is highly considered a mainstream game, in the same way that The Legends of Zelda a Link to the Past and Metroid are; while Guitar Hero is a more recent mainstream game, the Classic games are still none-the-less mainstream. Most people call Chrono Trigger the undefeated RPG champ, still holding its title over recent titles in all categories (i.e. story, game-play, graphics, etc.).
I remember hearing these tracks way back in the day, really brings back the memories.
Um...in your review thing you say something about it being from a relatively unheard of game. Well, I am not sure if you know this, but Chrono Trigger may be one of the most celebrated RPG's of all time and is extremely well known of.
@gdreyband I think the confusion stemmed from the part of the description that says "because it's from a relatively unheard of game" when you probably meant "relatively unheard of album." And I've never met someone in person that has heard Brink of Time except for me, even gamer or Square fans, kind of like Celtic Moon. This remix is one of my favorites, and I haven't heard it in like 10 years, so thanks for posting.
@Grimmshadowz He was saying that he thinks it's more important to upload music from rare or unheard-of games but this particular collection doesn't seem to be completed anywhere else.
The strings at 2:25 make it.

This sounds like it could be a theme song for an 80's "buddy cop" show like Miami Vice. haha.

i wouldn't call chrono trigger a mainstream game. Guitar hero is a mainstream game.

Just because it's celebrated by older generations, doesn't necessarily make it all that mainstream.

No offense intended but I believe you misread it a bit. Namely:
"Those of you that are familiar with my account might be surprised to see me uploading music from such a mainstream game."
And in case you ask, no I haven't changed the description.
