  • GreenScreenMayhem: You are wrong! I have heard the composer of this song sing it MANY times in person in SLC, UT. This is the closest to the original I have ever heard! It is beautiful. What a great voice and great young man! Kudos David. : )

  • this is a dissapointment to everyone who has ever heard Prayer of the Children his voice is ok ,but the phrasing is off the song has no feeling, well the way he sang it. it is not suppose to be short their should be long phrasing pauses this is dissapoointing.

  • Kinda saddening, because Kurt wrote this song after returning to a Childrens hospital in (country, i can't remember at the moment) to deliver medicine. And when he returned, the hospital, and hundreds of innocent youthful lives were taken; leveled.

  • @benhbook He had gone to Serbia. In this song, he was talking about Serbian, Croatian, and Bosnian children with no homes.

  • mad me cry ;-; and i gotta sing this for choir?! D< how the hell are they thinking i can sing this for choir without crying my butt off?! lmao wow xD good voice gunna listen to more of your songs :3

  • So beautiful, I'm so proud of him.

  • NOOOOOOOO!!!! I really wanted to hear him hit the high notes on the "oohs". When my choir did this song, not the whole group couldn't hit the higher notes, so me and a few others got to do an (correct me if im wrong, but i dont know a better word for it) ensemble where everyone dropped out except for about 15 people at the "ooh ooh la da dohm"s , and it was the best performance our men's select did all year. If you want to hear the higher version, wathch the baylor university.

  • remarkable

  • HE TALKS SO MUCH ! lol shut the heck up and just sing gosh damn haha :P

  • he has a good voice, i loved it! i just wish there had been less of an echo. also, i felt like he sped up at times.

  • I'd be a hell of a lot more impressed if he slowed the song down more, when he speeds it up like that it takes some of the lingering meaning from it. But regardless... the man can sing. <3

  • a solo voice simply does not have the effect that an ensemble has. he is a great singer, but he can't compare with some of the choirs i have heard sing this.

  • This song was wriiten about an opanage that got blown up a reporter wrote it he was going to interview the childern he left and the next day when he came back it was in rubble

  • kendra!!!!!!!! awesome man

  • In the first 40 seconds he butchered it in my opinion. Baylor mens choir or Voice Male sings it much better.

  • @TheHawkster97 What are you kidding ! He didn't botch it ! He sang it beautifully !

  • @Gingerb456 I just have a different opinion, thats all. sorry if i offended you...

  • @TheHawkster97 .. you didn't offend me.

  • @TheHawkster97 the reason they sing it better is because they have several voices to create harmonies... DUH

  • @Noltan74 touche...

  • this song is the most beautiful song i've ever had the privlige of singing. we sang it in school and for drama club. i cry everytime i sing it.

  • love it! He can marry my daughter any day!

  • @sunmin1996 lol no earpiece

  • Perfect. I saw this live... from the 3rd row. It made me cry. He's so perfect.

  • Its the VERY comments that show how and why the children CRY out.... PEOPLE... PLEASE stop seeing only the wrong, so fast to condemn... this is BEAUTIFUL ... God bless him .. Oh dear JESUS help us all to feel YOUR LOVE

  • TOO MUCH TALKING AND A LITTLE FLAT BUT GOOD JOB.

  • But I agree with the comments said about how, a choir singing this song it's more emotional, hearing the harmony just makes the song...I'm a 2nd S and I'd kill to sing the alto harmony on this song!! It's an AMAZING piece!!!

  • My choir sang this song and we received a standing O!! I think it was more of the message sent than the voices singing...I majored in music, so I've been trained to know when I hear something and it sounds good!!! And David did an AMAZING job!! So u who said this did no justice, shame on you!! This song isn't about how well it was sang, it's about the message David was trying to get across!!

  • All the haters need to just take a chill pill... If you don't like David then DON'T WATCH VIDEOS OF HIM! This is a place for David's true fans to talk about their love and admiration for him; it's not where haters can bash him and all the amazing work that he does.

  • he's always so sweet.

  • he talks too much. and there is more to the song, bc its a choir piece. he has a good voice but this wasnt the song for him

  • I'm sorry but he DOES NOT do this song justice at all.

  • I WAS THERE I WAS THERE I WAS THERE!

  • he is such a sweetie. and i love his voice

  • super song

  • I love this song. I've sung two different arrangements of it on stage; SATB and SSAA. I also love the message behind this song. When I was in honor choir and they told us about the hospital of children attacked that inspired this song.... I cry every time I sing it now, or even hear it. So, Go DA for singing such an amazingggggg song!

  • There are many arrangements of this work. My preference is TTBB, but all are better than solo. "Cute" (DA) is no substitute for richness. The harmonies reinforce the depths that are missing here. The wordless bridge (5:02 to 5:25) isn't even a pale shadow to the full harmony. Please listen to a good ensemble performance of this great work. I would suggest "ON DEMAND" or "Plead the Fifth", or a good chorus.

  • @potpac and InsideOut A Cappella

  • I applaud DA for supporting children's causes. But this is NOT a great performance. His rambling monolog confuses the meaning of the song, but perhaps that's all the screaming teenyboppers can understand. I can't tell that he really understands the song. His "embellishments" add nothing to it, and there is no use of dynamics, tempo, etc., to reinforce the meaning. he "angry guns" do not sound angry at all. The next to last phrase is written in Croatian. Translating that diminishes the work.

  • this gives me chills. flawless.

  • INVISIBLE CHILDREN!!!

  • @Tfournier161 lol ikr!!!

  • our chorus is going to sing this song.......I am going to cry while i'm singing this song. This is such a sad song!

  • Wow. I've always really liked David Archuleta and the fact that he's singing one of my top 5 songs makes me love him that much more. When I taught music last year, I had my choir sing this song and it never fails to bring me to tears. Great job, Archie ^_^

  • Love this song, Love Him. Nuff said. Don't particularly like this arrangement...but it will suffice.

  • WOW AMAZING!!! I'm going to cry! You rock DAViD

  • it's a good song and meaningful. He's awesome.

    thx

  • My choir sings this every year... it's such a beautiful and powerful song. Just the opening words bring tears to my eyes.

  • That's actually the best solo of that song I've ever heard...it's a difficult song to solo. Especially since it was made for two parts and two parts only...

  • What a freak....... he's so cute even when you are looking up his nose.....

  • this song always makes me cry my selest choir sang this and when i herd david singing it i just have this dream to sing it with him now

  • okay, I like this kids voice and its an amazing song but i almost didn't watch it cause he spent the first 2:55 talking.

  • @BardinJamesBishop David's "talking" always has a heartfelt message and what he is "talking" about in this video is worth hearing. He is explaining what charities are important to him and why the song is so special. His fans like hearing what he has to say :)

  • @BardinJamesBishop i know right!!!!! thats the only thing i didn't like about the video

  • @BardinJamesBishop imagine what it was like if you were there hahahahaha, i was dying.

  • @BardinJamesBishop i agree wit ArchuletaAvenue wat he is sayin is very important 2 some peps

  • David sang in We Are The World (clearly) for a TOTAL of 5 seconds!! :D :D

i just heard it!! it was an amazing blend of voices! :)

  • YEAH Invisible Children.

    It's definitely a Worthy Cause.

If you haven't heard anything about it, I recommend you go to the website. invisible children (dot) Com.

It's one of the best foundations I could ever be a part of, and I'm proud to be a part of that.

  • I definitely agree that it doesn't have nearly the impact that an A cappella performance does. Also good job to the girls screaming nonsense when he's trying to talk about something serious. Very respectful

  • Huh. I'm shocked at how beautiful the song still is as a solo, however, it can't compare to the impact of a men's choir. Stripping harmony out of it flattens the emotion. The first time I heard this song, sung by 'The Mad Hatters' from the University of Wisconsin, the hair on the back of my neck stood on end, it was that powerful. Now it's just a "pretty" song.

  • nah. its meant to be sung by a mens choir. it doesnt have the same impact without the rest of the voice parts. ive def gotta disagree with amazedsoul its not nearly as moving wen he sings it

  • @zmatsko well not really just a men's choir. my school's whole choir sung it and half the crowd was in tears at the end. the sopranos really added a nice touch.

  • @ToxicSquirrel34 huh I never considered that actually. That'd sound cool do u have a video posted of it? I wouldn't mind hearing it myself

  • @zmatsko sorry i don't :P i wish i did though :) i think it was probably the best performance our choir had ever done.

  • The boys in our choir sang this recently. It was very moving. This is one amazing song. I love it when David sings it!

  • I am non religious, yet I listen to this song over and over until I feel the pain. We all have a responsibility with the children of the world, specially those who do not have access to the love and care we give to our children. We can't continue to allow children to be invisible. Sometimes they are very invisible like our neighbors or homeless kids. It is our turn to care for them as other generations cared for us. Lets help them to be happy and better off. Love and time can be given for free.

  • wow, I have been a DA fan from day one and dont know how I missed this video? I have loved everything Ive heard him sing, but this... just takes the cake! speachless crying like a baby! not sure how is little body holds such a huge heart!

  • my choir is singing this song right now, its a great song, and i kinda agree with tcli224, David does sing this song masterfully, but it sounds a lot better with at least 2 guys (bass and tenor) singing together and it sounds even better with 4 parts, but major props to David for singing this, he did a great job and really made a heart-felt performance, and great video to whoever taped this

  • I'm not denying that he is a great singer (he quite clearly is), but this is not a good version of the song... It was written for four parts and should be sung with four parts...

  • i sang this song my freshman year of hs... beautiful song<3

  • wow he does amazing! my choir sings this song and i love singing it. it makes me feel like what i will be doing in africa will make a difference. good job david. :)

  • my 8th grade choir did this song at our last concert(:

  • this is an amazing video to whom ever shot it. Picture and sound are just perfect. Good job!

  • Thank you! My video taping skills have definitely improved since becoming a David Archuleta fan...LOL! Glad you like the video :)

  • omg...my heart is pounding...its so moving...i've never felt anything like this before when someone is singing

  • @amazedsoul listen to an ensemble performance, that is the way it is meant to be performed and sounds so much better (with good performers, obviously), it is much more moving that way

  • i really can't get enough of this video... i can't help but cry...

  • David is the REAL THING and this song was written for one part of the world but is relevant today with the tragedy in Haiti. This should be the anthem and David's performance of this song is magical. God bless him and all the children in need around this world.

  • heart felt performance

  • Not only can we hear it, we can feel it.

  • ...an absolute angel...

  • He brings this song to life, such a sad story :(

  • haha great job. Im actually singing a quartet version of this tomorrow at a concert lol. great song

  • Words can't explain how amazing he is.

  • At 5:04-5:23 he breaks my heart, for he makes me feel the cries, fear, anguish, pain, and sadness, of children of war... without singing an actual word. What an incredible talent David is.

  • talking so much about his life, and in the end, ours.

    then singing truth

    god does matter

  • he was talking sooo muchhh at this concert, it was so cute though haha

  • wow...

    He is stunning.

  • I went to this concert and was in Kansas City Missouri, not in Clevelan Oh... or he use the same t-shirt and scenography???

  • he used the same outfits for every show

  • My school chior did this song for our concert last year. It's so powerful and I'm really proud of him for doing it. He made it beautiful, GO DAVID!!!

  • An angel sent from heaven:)

  • I love this black and white. he's so beautiful

    I love David!

  • I know what y'all mean He is so amazing

  • Nothing but tears for the message of the song, and adoration for David.

  • David inspires my heart, and I feel so blessed <3 Thank you for this amazing video :)

  • oh my gosh I love this in Black and White. The introduction to the song was just as moving as the performance. David is a great ambassador for all of his childrens' charities. I loved this performance last night - thank you so much for capturing it.
