If you want to go on about the age of the Earth, go ahead. I will too. After Galileo published "The Starry Messenger" in 1610, the Roman Inquisition ordered him to recant his belief in copercanism (the belief that the sun is the center of the universe instead of the Earth). Last time I checked, it was easier to tell the shape of an object than to tell how old it is by carbon dating and other methods.

We're not talking about Galileo. We are talking about the age of the Earth. They have found carbon-14 in diamons, coals, and fossils that are supposed to be millions of years old. Carbon-14 can only last up to 10,000 years. This is proof that the fossils are not millions of years old. The evidence is there, you just have to be willing to look at it.

@munku121 You are wrong. One half-life of cabon-14 is 10000 years. The whole point of a half-life is for the following atom to become more stable. Never will carbon-14 become a stable compound. Even if you are correct on the subject there are more and accurate ways of Dating somethings age.

If freeways I would get at least a 600cc powered bike. If only streets all the time then it doesn't really matter the power in my opinion as you can't go very fast on streets anyways as there is a speed limit of 55 or so tops most places. If you plan on keeping the bike get one with power.

Three things:

First, the only way to "prove" atheism is correct is to prove there is no god, but you cannot be called upon to prove a negative, it's illogical.

Second, it is not unusual for scientists to get some things wrong, revision makes science stronger, not weaker.

Third, there is something weird how the universe seemed "programmed for life" but if you think about it, it makes sense even without theism. If it weren't predisposed for life, we wouldn't be alive to see it wasn't.

But you're looking at it in simplistic human terms where every output first needs an input. But that's not how the universe works. Think of viruses that swirl around in the air and evolve, especially at this time of the year. No one actually created these viruses yet here they are.

My gut feeling is that the various constants in the universe are intrinsic rather than randomly selected. Take π for example. What other value could it have? Why should the speed of light be different? We may never find a theory that states what these values should be. Well other than π. But that doesn't mean they were tuned.

I think you hit the nail on the head for why mankind developed an evolutionary instinct for spiritualty as we gained self awareness of our mortality. If god did not exist it would be necessary to invent him.

Sup Bud, Even though I'm always neutral on the subject of science. Another great point you can bring up is that up until a few years ago we had 9 planets. I actually did a report on Pluto when I was in high school and I was kinda upset when they said it wasn't a planet no more :(

@coolst0rybro Don't worry. The IAU did that to an asteroid too. Also, larger Kuiper belt objects have been found even further out than Pluto.

The fundamental problem is, how do you want to define a planet? I like the one of Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune definition over, say anything with enough gravity to be roughly spherical. The latter could give us dozens of planets to remember the names of!

@ChoconutBwownie Question is do you want a motorcycle? A motorcycle isn't that bad its the stupid things people do that bite them in the ass such as speeding, kids trying to keep up during group rides and biting the dust, stunting, inexperienced riders going past their limits. Basically as long as you're riding responsibly then your job is to just play defensive when on the road. LOTS of cars will not see you when you're coming up beside them and will lane change into you. Happens all the time

@ChoconutBwownie Get one! But remember that every time you ride you must be aware of everything around you and be defensive minded. Vegas isn't any worse than any other city, I lived there for 18 years. Just stay away from the more congested streets like Sahara, the Strip, Paradise Rd. and the other busy heavy traveled streets. Best riding is out toward Red Rock, taking the loop out to Blue Diamond and then back toward the city. The ride to the lake is great and take a ride to Mount Charleston.

@ChoconutBwownie One more thing about bikes. It takes a very special person to handle the power and capability that a bike presents. If you can resist the urge to see how fast you can go, then get one. If you can't, then don't you dare get one. But, every one that I know that has ridden any amount of time will have a mishap sooner or later. You must accept the risk. But like Shock said, if your not a Christian, you shouldn't take the risk. If you are then good riding and God be with you.
