A young Robert Newton makes a brief appearance in this as the Spanish ambassador. Still with traces of a Cornish accent 'e.g. The way he says 'tamarrroww' (tomorrow) ha ha. ha ha.
Oh my God!! Laurence is so handsome, charming, sexy in this extract!!!!!! And what a wonderful actor!!!!! I've seen him in only two movies: "Rebecca" and "Spartacus", and he was perfect!!!
Laurence Olivier was quite the most gorgeous classy, guy! I didn't like him so much in Rebecca, because he kind of looked a bit too mature for his age, good movie though nonetheless. If you're looking to see more os his handsome classy elegance, I highly recommend Wuthering Heights, he was really worthy of swooning over in that, and Pride and Prejudice!
she, she was a "snow white figure" black hair, pale green eyes and white, white skin. I do love an exotic dark skin look too. My best friend's daughter is half Cuban and my best friend is english....the child is remarkable and striking in her features and the most gorgeous chocolate skin
Lorripops, thank you! And why is everyone thumbing me down because I'm not very familar with Vivien as an actress yet? What idiots, if there's a problem, talk to me about it instead of anonymously thumbing down like a coward. Thumb me down again, only making me famous.
Aww thank you! I can't wait to see more of her movies =) I already saw StreetCar for school and I thought she was beautiful, even though she was meant to look old. In other movies she must be STUNNING.
Oh yes she is gorgeous, her black hair (i personally envy) is just stunning. I always think it's strange because in Gone With The Wind and Streetcar she has a really convincing accent, and then you see her in Fire Over England with her natural british accent, it's like wow. Lol. Have you seen Gone With The Wind? :)
@ClassicMovieClub one correction, she had greeen eyws, like the eyes of a cat and the black hair, yes................she was indeed very beautifoul and talented
when I first saw the movie I thought they both were dubbed, but upon closer listening, it does sound like Vivien's voice. I did have doubts about Olivier's voice in it, but I didn't know he was trained to sing as a young choirboy. interesting!
I think it's their real singing voices. Vivien Leigh was very musical indeed, didn't she study cello in her youth?- and Laurence Olivier's singing voice here is quite similar to his later singing voice in " The Entertainer"... on another note, I think Vivien Leigh was simply exquisitely beautiful!!
vivien could sing, she won a tony award for best actress in a musical, in 1960 something for a musical called toravich. so she must have had some sort of voice, unfortunatly there are very few recordings of her singing.
that is definately Olivier singing:) He was trained to sing as a young choirboy. He also later sang in the Beggars Opera, although he later confessed that singing with real opera singers wasn't the best idea he had ever had !:)
In the first bit that is definitely Vivien Leigh singing in her trademark schoolgirl trill (see other movies-always the same); Olivier very dubbed;self-confessed non-singer.
I like your vid clip and I've rated it as awesome. I've done another video clip on some old cigarette cards of 1930's movie stars, including: Laurence Olivier, Bing Crosby, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, Clark Gable, Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Greta Garbo,Johnny Weismuller, Gary Cooper and Carole Lombard.

Vivien Leigh did not have green eyes. Her eyes were blue.
During the filming of GWTW a yellow light was shown into her eyes to give them a green cast , in keeping with the description of Scarlett O'Hara.

she was so beautiful <3

I can get use to her real English accent. I keep imagining that southern belle voice that made Scarlett O'Hara come to life.

Очень красивый фильм! Оба главных героя Вивиен и Оливье - просто очаровательны! А уж как мне нравится баллада!!!

This is a delightful film. I think it is his real voice (Olivier had been a talented choir boy).
