  • One of the most disturbing movies ever made.

  • I found this in an Amoeba store and when I found it there I just had to have it cuz it's one of my fav films of all time and I searched high and low for it so I immediately bought it :D

  • despite the ultra low budget to me this is the most dead on portrail of what i think happens to someone who goes to war comes back and is forgotten by society

  • awesome movie

  • The greatest low budget feature film of all time COMBAT SHOCK...

  • now this is my kind of flick

  • The movie was grim but I must be desensitized because I didn't walk away as scarred as so many people say after watching it.

  • this movie is so depressing.

  • Ya, but it`s about the true reality of life after VIETNAM... Too many people are always looking for Hollywood endings, etc,etc... COMBAT SHOCK is the greatest low budget feature film of all time, and greatest feature film about the effects of the Vietnam war...

  • This is one of my top 5 films. No shit. Bow fucking down!

  • I bought the 2 disc set a few days ago and the movie is very good. Low budget, but excellent acting from the lead actor and you can really feel for this guy. Definitely check this one out.

  • I need to pick this up ASAP, Combat Shock is an all time gritty classic, Im looking forward to seeing the workprint with the alternate title!!!!

  • Probably being double dead. Since he dies in this movie, and Eraserhead. And there's no way to get better from being double dead.

  • the Erasherhead baby!! Good to see he got some other work other that eraserhead. He's great.

  • I wonder what he's up to these days?

  • This movie is about hopelessness. Lurking at every corner, bad news awaits the main character. He's starving, his wife is starving, his mutant son is starving, and the unemployment office can't offer him a job and they advise not to seek welfare because they are cutting back

    WTF!

It's low budget flick with some less-than- stellar acting but it's definitely worth a look-see.

  • No, it's a full length documentary with various famous writers and directors talking about the cultural impact of the movie, and music videos directed by Buddy and 6 short films (including Joe Spinell's last performance),

  • crap? crap! You are not man enough to use the word poop you $hit headed small pee pee man who needs big budget movies to compensate for your crap.

Go take a crap and take a whiff of your own crappy reality you automated masturbating nerd.

  • Man, i just found out about this from Rue Morgue.

  • I hope Troma's able to keep up with the special editions. These are very long overdue.

  • Troma!! will never die!!

  • I love this movie, although it's not something I could watch without being in the mood for it. This is one of the few movies that REALLY made an impression on me. To me, films like this are somehow more scary than any horror movie out there. Loaded with gritty realism.

East End Hustle was another underrated film from the Troma library with a similar look and feel to it.

  • I saw the original directors cut, American Nightmares, at the Scala Cinema in London at the Splatterfest 90 film festival (in 1990).

Buddy was there, as was John McNaughton (he brought 'Henry' over for the fest) and Roy Frumkes (who bought 'Document of the Dead).

I notice they are both quoted in the trailer.

I guess Troma are releasing this to coincide with the release of Buddys new movie, "Life is Hot in Cracktown"

Go and see it if you get the chance and support Buddy. A great directors

  • Maybe the director is even getting paid this time... Since it's it is going to be the directors cut... I'll be buying this edition...

  • It is about Goddamn time! This is the BEST movie in the Troma Library and has deserved a better edition for years and years! Now actually spend some money and re-master it and not just dump a crappy old master out with new extras.

  • @topo872 Yeah I would love a dvd/blu ray edition with all the extas on the recent dvd plus a third option of watching the movie in high def. along with the option of watching it in grainy grindhouse quality (which definitely is one of its appeals).

  • Combat Shock is one of the best Troma movies.

  • the Troma movie I wish would get a deluxe dvd re-release is Evil Clutch! How can you not love a horror film about a woman with a demon claw that comes out of her pravate parts?

  • Can't wait. This was disturbing enough on the original VHS release. The 'director's cut' re-master will be one to skip watching if you're feeling the least bit suicidal. One of the most effective movies ever made in delivering the desired effect on an audience. Thanks Troma for including both versions.

Now when does my fav Troma comedy Invasion of the Space Preachers get the deluxe treatment?

  • Awesome! Can't wait.

  • TROMA ROCKS! CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS ONE!

  • W0W

  • One of my favorite Troma releases. I'm glad to see this is finally getting re-released with the director's cut and special features.

  • Holy Shit O_O

That looked liked The Punisher Mixed with All Quiet On The Western Front and Perfectly Blended all together with That Always Good Troma Season To It! Now I know what kind of a movie I'll buy over the summer.

  • fuck yeah im deffiantely coppin that

  • i freaking love troma

  • Looks like it kicks ass i gotta check it out! =D

  • OH HELL YEAH!!! thank you Troma for getting this out finally...now if Plutonium Baby could make it onto dvd we'd be set ;)

  • Oh ya slit those wrists!...good stuff!

  • "Explict Ugliness"

"It makes you want to slit your wrists!"

I've wanted to watch this movie for some time now! Thanks Troma!!!
