No Shit. That lil Camaro was squatting right down almost on her spring stops. Whoever owned it sure as heck knew how to set up a Suspension especially with the amount of ponies that all Aluminum Engine was putting to the ground. 430 as far as the Insurance boys knew. More like 500 in reality. Biggest farce tho was them rating the DZ302 at 290bhp. Wanna try 4 more like 400 cause that's what my friends 69 Zapper felt like when he took to banging that Muncie M-22.
@PureStockDrags oh ok. thanks! couldnt remember :) great stuff love the vids. drag racing for life. too bad there isnt a show like this at my local track. famoso raceway
@M3TurboE46 horsepower was "factured" by GM at 430hp actual horsepower was north of 500hp, but a set of headers would push the ZL1 engine to 600hp. they ran 11 second 1/4 miles right off the showroom floor. they were expensive cars too. At a sticker price of a fully loaded ZL1 over $8,000, it was twice the price of a standard corvette. base price was $4,165.50 in 1969.

zl1 was the aluminum head motor and l88 was the 427/435 motor right?
nitrojoe9 1 year ago
@nitrojoe9
the L88 is a alum headded motor, the ZL1 is a L88 with an alum block, too.
both were very underrated at 430 horse, the L71 was the 435 horse tri-power motor and could be ordered with iron or alum heads (L89) ......
