Damn, it looks like a shampoo commercial! Particularly when he turns his head around...
That said, what i never liked about JMJ, if i except the egotrip of the very guy, are the cheesy melodies. Like someone told him to never touch any other keys than white ones... Really space-agey
From the same period Kraftwerk were way more funny and ahead of their times.
Still, i like the overall sound of these early JMJ stuffs.
The only JMJ album i like almost entirely is Zoolook.
... this is music to contact aliens with. Sometime in the future they will hear this and it will have a message in it for their alien brains, and they'll say 'Shit, this is good sound, we should have visited that puny little planet back then.' Or maybe they already have,
@rugbytlse Yeah, I remember it too!..The "peer", like Renault sadly called this car, causing its misselling was flying through a cloudy sky above lands and oceans...I must say the gentle face of our national Jean-Mimi with his blinking eye, facing "le Trac" and piloting his console is more pleasant to see, indeed!..
a feeling of warmth, happiness! still so human so fresh so powerful! that's a classic in its genre! it gets down to the depths and flies up high to the skies of the human spirit! superb!
Simply superb! All of his albums were very advanced for their time which is probably why it still sounds as fresh today as it did then. Musical Hovis if you like!
qqu un peut me donner le titre d une musique qui "commence " par des tonneres et de la pluie et puis on( j ai ) a l impression d etre face a un manege qui tourne
I wonder how a synth piece would sound if it had Jean Michelle Jarre, Rick Wakeman, Vangelis, Kraftwerk, Guru Josh, La Reux and Harold Faltermayer in it.
Tell me one keyboardist that didn't get facinatted for his gear and sort of inspired to play the keys by that time.. I'm one of them and man I loved to see those keyboards layered and surrounding him.. and that laser thingy that he had.. jezzzzzz..
When I first heard this in my childhood back in the 70's, it was absolutely awesome. It made the hairs stand on the back of my neck! It still sounds awesome today - incredible sound!
Anyone who hasn't seen the documentary about his Rendez-Vous Houston concert is truly missing out. What's not to love: extremely vain French guy turning knobs.
I know but the music didn't change that much in those few years. Jarre is the master of his craft but it seems to me, those who wrote the music scores for certain '80s shows took a hint from him. I hear a bit of Jarre in Street Hawk and Airwolf themes....maybe it's just me! :)
I always wanted to see him in Concert! Yes, he always had a battleship of keyboards surrounding him. I wish he could come over to a small city in Washington State called Spokane. And with permission, we can set up amazing lights and he can "play the city" literally!
The first single(45 T)I bought in my life(at the age of 13 in 1976),was "oxygène IV" by Jean-Michel Jarre. I haven't regret it since ! In 1979,Equinoxe was the successor of Oxygène and also excellent ! Jean-Michel is the master!
The video may look dated, but look at it through fresh eyes. Technology was young then, and showing mixing desks out in the forest was unheard of in those days. The image Jean Michel wanted for this video, was to show that electronic music can have an organic and natural feel to it. He did just that. Not just well, but totally brilliantly.
On of the pioneers, together with tangerine dream, kraftwerk, klaus shultze,vangelis...
Amazing, to bad he still stuck in time. His new albums still consists of his old tracks. Were the others, named here above evolved. Nevertheless musical genius jean. Nobody can deny him that title ever.
Something that still gets turned loud. Out of my childhood my father loves it. And still does his ipod is filled with jean michel and the others of his kind.
this stuff was my first cassette .. when i was 6 or 7 years old ..i heared it all the time, lol, but its same greatness today and i think it would the same for me too when Ì am 80
