THANKS! Man, I been wearin' out that Seraphim joint!!!!! GOOD GOD!!!!! That's a bad-ass song, much like the bad-ass that produced it, and the bad-ass mighty mighty EWF!!! The audio is out of sync with the video.
@cleopatrabonz Sorry for the misunderstanding. I was named after my father, Charles Stepney, who worked with Larry. Larry has been a Life Long family Firend. I'm Charlene
can you tell me where you got this piece? I have been wanting the entire Earth Wind and Fire Hall of Fame induction, and would love to have it......thanks L.
@savida34e Maurice disbanded the group in 1983, so they all went their own ways. In 1987 when they came back. Fred White and Larry Dunn didnt return. Woolfolk came back and stayed until 1993.
@savida34e I think it wasn't Maurice but the others who chose not to come back. They were apart of EWF's best line up, so the invite was extended. They couldn't get any higher in terms of fame and success. I think they went on and did other things in music.
@Geeljasjes and Reese is the totality of it all, that's why even when I go and see them (and I do :) there is something special missing, it's the master himself Maurice White, EWF fan since 74, and have every album they have ever put out, so I know what I'm talking about...peace Lady L.
How nice it is to see them all together, every one of them. I wish they could still be together without hiring all those studio musicians to do live shows. I love seeing them all together why can't they be? I wonder.
EWF seemed really tight from the start. You never hear of a "falling out" over creative differences from any of them and there were so many band members at that. And yet you hear of that from only two band members from different artists.
are you talking about the instrumental piece that starts at 1:43? If so I wish I knew because I like it also, does anyone know if it was another artist or an unreleased track
The piece @ 1:43 is entitled Seraphim. It is on the Sky Island album by Caldera. There is another version of it. It was an unreleased track on Earth Wind and Fire's Spirit album.
I still love the group, but it is missess some important pieces, and they were a HUHE part of it, but Maurice is the heart and soul of the group, and even though I saw the group last year, I STILL missed him, he brings so much and can't be replaced...:( EWF fan forever
Yo, that was a funky keyboard medley by Larry. Those original brothers got a great vibe. They should come together to do an album. Phillip could do all the vocals.
i wish al mackay and larry dunn would get back with the rest of the band. they still could be a dominant band in the music industry. but only if all the original guys other than maurice white (due to parkinson's) would get back together.
I just get goosebumps from this guy! This was my FAVORITE group in the 70s! I hsve many a memory of their music playing at college parties! He was my biggest influence as a keyboard player back when I was in club bands.
Larry Dunn might have been the most valuable player on that team full of most valuable players that was Earth Wind & Fire. His contribution was essential. He was in the background making it all happen.
I'm from Detroit, moved to Burbank, CA 22 years ago, have worked as 2nd engineer with Foster/Gatica at Lighthouse Studio in N.Hollywood on major releases. My name is ALSO Larry Dunn for 49 years the "other" Larry Dunn". Someone suggested that I was not very brite...LOL! I'm always been a BIG EWF fan!
And I agree...the Larry Dunn songs were the BEST. I get his union due bills in both Detroit & Burbank mixed up with mine. Larry Dunn has a GREAT website! Check it out...
How I wish I could have been there, in the studio with these creative artists! Bless you Charlene, your family and Larry.
