  • Thats nice and all but the weapons sound like the player is wearing double hearing protection...

  • too bad the spent all their money on shit like this and cgi trailers, and none of it to actually developing a good game.

Oh well. At least I have ARMA, a game made by a group dedicated to making good games, not good money.

  • The LAV 25 was maid and designed in Canada same with your strikers we designed them haha

  • How come the sound of the M1 Abrams is nothing like the one shown in this video?

  • This is so amazing. Awesome machinery and opportunity to record sounds!

  • lol they out in 29 palms

  • Mufasa :)

  • This game is so freaking realistic, every time i play it, I feel like im an actual marine man. And the Chinese! One of the highlights

  • @AssassinSkills Actually its not realistic at all, Its more arcade like.

  • this game is hell good the Multiplayer beats off BFbc2 and COD4-6

  • It's the gameplay that's crap the graphics and sound is great

  • hmmmmm.... did arma go to all this trouble? NO. because they aren't ass good as ofp dragon rising!

  • @DevinChief I have arma 2 and operation flashpoint dragon rising and I can tell you that arma 2 is the much better game.

  • @DevinChief

Just FYI, they did. There is a reason why ArmA2 sounds better than this... thing.

    See for yourself at pro(dot)bistudio(dot)com

  • @DevinChief that's complete bullsh*t.

    look at this website:

    community (dot) bistudio (dot) com/wiki/Ask_Bohemia_about_A2OA_-_Answers#Sound_samples_.2F_sound_params

  • If there just were NO music.

  • I cant believe codemasters went to sooo much trouble over the game. I love it, personally, but the AI lack realistic intelligence within the squad... otherwise its a fantastic game and would recommend it to anyone interested in either strategy, 1st person shooters or both!!!!

  • I know, I can't believe the US Marine Corps would help out like that. Top respect for both parties. Our Army (the British Army) would very unlikely allow civilian personell anywhere near their toys (apart from the firepower demo that occurs every year).

  • Actually I went on a summer camp with the Air Training Corps (Join it if ure between the ages of 13-16 if ure interested) to an RAF base and they showed us some of their stuff... just not on a range... rather showing us what they look like, what they do and their overall statistics

  • Yes Well I happen to be the WO2 of Wells Cathedral School and I too have been on outings with the armed forces but thats a different ball game they are doing it because they are fishing for fresh recruits. I am speaking in the context of companies like this recording the sounds of the vehicles. Had they asked our army it would have been less likely that they got what they wanted. The US Army is just more accesible

  • that's quite cool. I particually prefer the British Armed forces but it sounds really interesting for anyone who partakes in the activities. Infact, if anyone has the chance, go check out their country's armed forces on things such as air shows or military outings and i guarentee you will not be disappointed.

  • When you's back in Ireland?...jus joshin your chops lol. There'll never be another flashpoint 1 again as I stated on other forums, also youtube, all that trouble for physics and its less impressive than flash point 1? WTF lmao?

  • why have you replied to me I haven't made a comment about ireland?

  • @14th20thKRHkickass

I was joking lol, I was on the hooch last night leaving random comments all over the internet, some nice, some not, you should see my inbox today lol, take no notice of me, just reading through all comments of what people thought of Dragon Rising and how they done it all really.

  • @14th20thKRHkickass i bet you the only reason they did it was to advertise the corps and its strength! so they get more recruits! but i love the corps and can't wait to join!

  • hope a terrorist KIA's you

  • @14th20thKRHkickass We are actually very open about most things.

  • @Typhoono9 Almost every good game uses real life sounds , textures etc if posible .. Thats standard .. The art is too make them sound good. Like gran turismo has sounds and textures for every car recorded in real life.

  • Unlucky.

    Winter with no snow.

  • US Marine Core screwed over CodeMasters.

  • howd u work that out

  • way to miss spell "Corps" there not a core!

  • I have just checked out the actual game - the vehicle sounds are just horrible. After seeing this video I was very excited, but the actual sounds are a big let down. They dont have to do much with actual sounds - especially the M1A2. I want my money back!!

  • No, i think u got a cheap and crappy PC thats it. games fine sounds fine, its just the fact your too poor to get a real PC.

  • Well my PC is allright, and I have an outstanding sound system for it. The weapon / firing sounds are very good in the game, but the vehicle sounds of which I was talking about are far from the real thing...

  • Hmm, then i take back what i said, maybe something in audio is bad, cause on my game its fine.

  • you cant even spell "Pilot" stfu...

    bestpioltever...

  • lookin forward to hearing all of these sounds in the game!

  • I am just curious about how they can get the field record of the chinese weapons.

Also, would it be different for the tank's sound recorded on different terrains (e.g. Woodland and desert).

How about the planes (Will there be sea wars) ?

  • You'd be surprised how many collectors and military/police units have chinese weapons available to record.

The tank does sound a little different on each type of terrain. We tried to get several different surfaces (sand, grass, cement, gravel) to keep it realistic!

Don't know about the sea wars possibility but I do know that we will be recording lots of helo's and aircraft for the next one. Should be fun!

  • i remember them talking about having difficulties getting their hands on Chinese weapons in a interview

  • Thanks for all that you guys did for this game. I'm picking it up tomorrow and can't wait to hear all the great sounds. Not all game creators go out of their way to make great audio like this. Thanks!

  • most weapons were replicated for recording

  • i saw a video on here with an interview with the developers saying how they couldnt accurately recreate the sound of the chinese weapons as they were reluctant to release that information

  • lol joke? i guess they just dont want people to know if china is attacking because the sounds of their guns would give them away.

  • @xo686 They couldn't get hold of all of the weapons...and they said themselves that they had to "presume" in some cases because "the Chinese obviously don't like us playing with their toys" (or something like that)

  • @xo686 Yo, sorry to burst your bubble. but there arent any planes X[ i know. im sad too

  • @xo686 i wonder how they got all the quake 4 mechs at-sts etc ;)

this again reminds me of the hovering almost stationary skylight too slow for heli and almost blimp...

  • I just hope the Codies get the turret traverse rates/slew speeds correct. That makes a big difference when you're an infantryman trying to exploit an armored vehicle's vulnerabilities.

If the vehicles sound like they did in this video, it's going to be one awesome experience.

  • I'm definitely looking forward to it myself!! :)

  • and how do you get an accurete recording of the vechile sounds always wanted to know

  • It took lots of planning and testing prior to our trip - plus our years of experience with field recording and vehicles helped a bit.

We mic'ed the exhaust, engine, tracks and suspension and interior on each vehicle - then took it for a ride to work the recorders, monitor levels and make adjustments as needed. We worked very closely with the crews to operate the vehicle in realistic conditions and recorded plenty of takes for variety - and to make sure the editors had enough to work with.

  • I can't wait to crank this game up on my Bose system :)

  • Any chance of selling these sound samples for personal use?

  • Unfortunately, all copyrights for this project go to the developer. Since they were gracious enough to hire us and pay for the trip, they own the sounds outright. And we definitely want to stay out of any legal trouble. ;)

  • is there any chance in the near future that we could get these sound samples or restricted to the owner?

  • Unlikely due to copyright issues. Codemasters owns all of the sounds now.
