  • That's pretty amazing!

It looks to me like it is a Grumman C-1 Trader Carrier Onboard Delivery aircraft.

Great job by the Navy Pilot who held his mug through that drenching, and came out straight and level!

  • I think that is the Ticonderoga and Essex class attack carrier. The plane is an E1-B or COD (carrier onboard delivery) used to shuttle people, parts and mail.

  • @exenrontexas - Are you sure? It looks like a Grumman Tracker to me (the Royal Australian Navy used to fly them off the deck of HMAS Melbourne).

  • @JBofBrisbane Actually I am not sure. On second though, the E1B has a different tail configuation. Thanks for keeping me honest and accurate.

BTW: IMHO the very best Australian export is Judith Durham and the Seekers.

  • cant even begin to imagine what the flight crew felt when that struck them.

once back on deck I wonder if they went for coffee and chuckled about it

  • It looks like it still made it into the air ... check out the last second or two of the video where, once the ship comes down of the next wave, you can see the wings of the plane above the bow off the starboard side!

  • y would someone ask if the plane was damaged by the waves

  • To the guy who said he was onboard that day, can you tell me what year? I lost my grandfather on that ship in almost the same way. If you were on that year you'd be the first person I've found from that crew.

  • And now Ill make a plane disappear... TA DA!

  • You can see it fly away at the end of the video just in case anyone is wondering.

  • why always good videos cut early?

  • BLA BLA CHUCK NORRIS BLABLA CUCK NORRIS BLA BLA CHUCK NORRIS BLA BLA CUCK NORRIS.... BLA BLA BLA BLA FUCK NORRIS.. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

  • @clarifaco

    Não.

  • @clarifaco no shit!!!

  • I was aboard the Ticonderoga (CVS-14) that day (but not on the flight deck). It was in the North Pacific and the seas were mean and we were taking water over the bow all day. It was a C-2 Greyhound and it immediately returned safely to the carrier.

  • @violaman87 Was the plane damaged by the waves?

  • @violaman87 Are you kidding? I just knew for sure the sea claimed another....my dad saw too much during his time on ship....guess I've heard too many stories. Thank God they made it back...

  • @violaman87 Actually C-1 Trader (modified version of S-2 Tracker). The C-2 has the 4 small vertical fins of its E-2-based airframe, while the C-1 has the single fin of the S-2.

  • Chuck Norris is a nice guy, sometimes is does usefull things.

  • i lol´d :D

  • Fuck Chuck Norris! That was flown by the Stig

  • Chuck Norris flying a transformer.....

  • This is what happens when a pilot and a sailor make a bar bet ;)

  • why do you always have to make a joke with chuck norris in it, don't you guys know any other jokes? boring

  • why the hell takeoff in these conditions?

  • This is where the water ingestion tests come in handy

  • You know what... I am feeling daring today. Chuck Norris isn't as epic as some claim...

    :O

  • om nom nom nom nom nom wait.....

  • WTF????

  • This was a test by the Navy.

  • Fail. i bet jaws ate the pilot 2

  • Fail. i bet jaws ate the piolet 2

  • The flaps weren't even in the proper position. Looks to me like they ditched a plane for some reason which does happen under the right circumstances....

  • fail

  • i know exactly what happened but it still instantly cuts visibility too zero for a couple seconds a good pilot wouldn't react a new one would be shitting him self i would but as long as you still know that your going up and not down than your good to go!

  • This doesn't make sense. The plane appears to hit water that is the same level as the flight deck. That can not be the case at all. The flight deck is several stories above the water. I suspect this is fake.

  • @MauricioElGata It's called spray. When water breaks over a bow, it creates spray.

  • @MauricioElGata ,, not when its rolling with the waves, but at the end it appears to be flying,, ehh oh well,

  • Code Brown in the Cockpit

  • wild that the plane made it. and so did the aircraft carriers sailing always into the wind to give planes an extra boost. so if he had crashed the ship would have sailed over him and you would not be able to see the plane in the end

  • It's a plane! No It's a boat! No wait I'ts a lucky ass plane and pilot!!!

  • That is an awesome video! Super lucky pilot...

  • Holy junky!

  • i think the pilot got rescued before the plane would sink i can se it floating lol

  • @biancaphil08 It's not floating. It's flying dude

  • @murrbelty yeh its flying then floating for a bit after the waves hit it..

  • /watch?v=Z3a46LES5aY

  • "Tower to pilot Cousteu, you have a go for take off"

  • @badboybilzer Go fix yourself a nice warm slice of go fuck your mom.

  • Pilot was probably girl

  • @DeOptimist Someone already make this comment just a few comments down. : P Duh.

  • wahawahawahawahawaha

  • Oh jeez...

  • I guess I am retarded, patatebrune. I was there that day, and it didn't seem funny to me. That crew almost lost their lives. I guess it's a generational thing.

  • @99race99 lol those who criticize our generation forget who raised it :P

  • @sidXIII You got THAT right !!!

  • @99race99 lol those who criticize our generation forget who raised it :P

  • @99race99 you're not retarded - you're just seeing the result of organized religeon.

  • Near bummer

  • How is it not funny? They made it.

  • I'm blown away by how many posters think this was funny.

    sad.

  • @99race99 I'm blown away by how fucking retarded you are.

    sad.

  • must of been a chick flying that plane

  • @S4MMMYT I hate to point this out, but females drive better than some males. Just because the plane was sunk in a wave doesn't mean the pilot was a girl. You're being a sexist, and I don't appreciate it. And I'm sure there are others who don't like you making comments like that, either.

  • @xItachisTwinSisterx

Did bother me.... You, however, are incredibly uptight.

  • OMNOMNOMNOMNOMOM

  • LOL!

  • that's where the term "aeronautic" really came from...

  • @tobascocat1

No, the plane was'nt flown by Chuck Norris, ...the plane WAS Chuck Norris!.

  • @tobascocat1 Actually, the pilots name was Chuck Testa

  • LOVELY timing! Roll out the next two boys!

  • belly flop

  • and, in the next in line, a pilot heard through his earphones:"clear to go buddy"...

  • 17 people just got hit by a plane

  • @maknreaper stfu

  • The plane flys on after the wave! What are you seeing Edison?

  • Cod shot...

  • I can just hear the pilot now. " Getting ready to lift off...WTF.....DEPENDS PLEASE!!!!!!"

  • @6toobie9 Funny!!!

  • Yea right!

  • that's not a plane, it's a secret modern submarine

  • Holly Shit !!!!

  • C-2 greyhound?

  • @Baphamatt B-25 imo

  • @EliasJalonen nah its a grumman tracker or tracer I think

  • @DumbYankies ur right :/

  • secret weapons of ww2....

  • lol talk about bad timing.

  • lmao if i had been one of the deck hands id be like fuck, didnt have far to go to meet the water now did he? oh wait sweet he made it.

  • its not a plane you idiots...its a flying submarine..

  • the wave you see was from the water hitting the very front of the ship, it wasn't a perfect time to launch the airplane because the ship was about to pitch down, but the plane does not hit the wave at all

  • @UsedToFly1 Launch or being recovered(plane landing)

  • bad luck

  • i thinks thats my grandmother flying that plane but i could be wrong.

  • I would go off on the shooter when i came back to the carrier

  • in the last few seconds u see the plane fly away

  • That plain probably had to ture around, because that much watter at that much pressure would sure puncture the feed valve and drown the engines over time.

  • @uplusion22 Why can't you just laugh like everybody else? Instead you misspell shit, and make yourself look like an idiot. Next time, laugh.

  • @1987chickenman Does it matter what he says?

  • The plane is clean.

    The pilot's underwear....not so much.

  • @donkeymorris heheheheh

  • Just think of the pilots thoughts just prior, and just after.

  • wont have to clean it now

  • LOOL!!

  • the pilot needed to whash his/her hair

  • the pilot didnt take a bath...and nature save his day!

  • u can see the plane still flying

  • hahaha

Time for some carrier height research.

  • The answer is yes, the plane did make it. You can watch the full video while on the USS Yorktown docked in Charleston SC. The reason the plane DOES make it is because it is a propeller plane, and it did not loose enough air speed to crash. Had it been a jet plane of any kind it would have more than likely crashed due to the massive water intake into the engines.

  • That was close !!!

  • pilot: "we have successfully landed on Uss enterprise. please remain seatbelts on until we have completely stopped."

second pilot : ummm sir, we are going to crash into the water, sure we not shall bail out"

Pilot: "When we have completely stopped"

  • lololololol

  • XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDdd

    LOL!

  • Yip the plane made it.

  • hate it when that happens

  • The plane made it....you can see it flying off at the very end of the clip

  • @thefrom

I see what you are talking about but i believe that is just white wash from a wave crest in the distance. There is no way that plane had enough air speed after hitting the water to fly.

  • @robble69

or maybe it was the plane. it could be the plane if it just went through wave splash. Will we ever know for sure?

  • @robble69 except you can see the wash spill over the carrier somewhat and the plane disappear into it

  • Lol epic fail much?

  • OWNED!

  • Comment removed

  • If the propellors were bent it would affect the airflow around the aircraft and it would not fly, bullshitter.

  • take off fail

  • ach du kacke...............

  • Put that on my tab!

  • lol fail

  • PWNED LOL!!!

  • you can see the plane flying away in the upper right hand corner at the end of the clip.

  • see you dont need g-force to white out just a wave haha

  • lmfaooooooooo, that was funny as shit how it's there 1 second and the next it pulled a houdini lololololol

  • FAI-- oh wait...

    EPIC WIN!

  • outstanding!

  • ya it flew away at the end

  • Definitely an S2F.

  • a free plane wash XD

  • @DonLollio

    jajajjajaja....plane wash!!! good one

  • @DonLollio LOOOOOOL

  • thats hilarious!!!

  • If that is a number 14 at the end of the deck, then the ship is CV-14, the USS Ticonderoga. Served 1944-1972. Plane could have been an s-2 Tracker.

  • Only in US carrier!!!

  • Sailing FAIL

  • FAIL!!!

  • Plane flew away unscaved lame ass video

  • @mojofakkman

Well I think that it makes this vid better than the rest, it's different!

  • @mojofakkman the word is unscathed

  • why would you state that the plane sinks when quite clearly it survives and flies through the wave.

  • What is so funny? This is serious!

  • i would wan to be on it right then

  • Comment removed

  • @LAZENBYx18 bullshit

  • no actually it is true, that is his grampa

  • -.- lol youre so dumb

  • hahah lol!

  • thats awesome! never forgot that take off did they?

  • loool owned

  • lol fail

  • more like win, the guy made it

  • That's why they call it a seaplane.

And yes dumbass (not you), I know it's not a seaplane.

  • Mother nature = fail

    Giant aircraft = win.

  • OMG The deck put him right into the water BUT HE MADE IT OUT! He's flying away at the end... incredible!

  • 0:06 is that "ooooooooh tits" kinda moment..

  • TAKE OFF FAIL!

  • What does everyone keep saying "fail" and "owned"? The plane MADE IT! He ALMOST got smacked down my mother nature, but he got lucky. Not a fail.

  • ahaha imaculate nature ownage

  • Lol soo get pwnage :DDD

  • that was probably the hardest owned i have ever seen

  • LMFAOOOO

  • OMG OMG OMG LOL PWND TO THE MAX. like you can NOT get owned any harder than that

  • He made it out okay; you can see his flying off it the end. The reason the plane disappeared is simple. A plane launching from a carrier will basically "fall" off the deck (remember a plane must be going above a certain speed to fly) and use the few feet before he hits the water to build enough speed to fly away. A big plane doesn't even have ejection seats! It is very dangerous, and big waves REALLY don't help. A catapult or a ski ramp helps a lot. Can anyone tell me what kind of plane this is?

  • @justforever96 almost looks like a B25. Impressive he had enough airspeed to get up after slamming into a wall of water like that....
