j'ai ete comble par ce cd au dela meme de mes espérances. L'orchestre est épatant, la voix de jaroussky est superbe : dans tout cela rien de vraiment surprenant. La suprise, la merveilleuse suprise-meme pour moi qui depuis bien longtemps aime ce compositeur- ce sont ces airs de JC Bach qui sont absolument splendides. Un grand bravo et encore merci pour ce cd.

ceux qui comme moi aiment les oeuvres de jc bach doivent souvent se contenter d'interpretations qui ont le merite d'exister mais qui sont souvent assez mediocres. C'est dire combien ce cd est pour moi un heureux évènement dont je me promets beaucoup de plaisir. Merci.

Chers amis, je viens d'acheter en avant-première l'écoute du CD de Phil, sur Opendisc/EMI: c'est sublime !!!

Quel magnifique travail, tout en délicatesse, subtilité et profondeur. Oui,l'écriture germano-italienne de Jean-Chrétien va à merveille à Phil ! Et la nostalgie qu'il évoquait, dans une récente interview, à propos de la dernière heure des castrats est très clairement perceptible (moi qui pourtant ai une oreille tout à fait profane).

But in comparison to the sorrowful words is the music quite peaceful and almost pastoral. ;-)

For me it's а very strange contraposition between almost sweet calm music and bitter distressing words. Why?

Perhaps not so strange as a convention of the time: Glück's Orfeo (with "Che faro" written in the same vein) appeared just 5 year earlier than JCB's Carattaco. Interestingly, JCB edited Orfeo for 1770's season in London, adding some music to it.

I guess, you mean the aria " La legge accetto ", which was written by J.-Ch. Bach for insertion into Atto I of Glücks most famous work.

Jana, I am always amazed how you manage to get hold of things, including some valuable pictures! This CD is not going to be released in Japan until November 2nd. However, I expect it to be availabe at the concert venues in Tokyo on 1st and 5th November, in which case I shall get it an have it signed by him!!!

Fabulous ... I am so much looking forward to this album! To me his voice tone seems slightly different in this music, again. And I very much like the mellow and rich sound of the few low notes in this aria.

I´m not sure, whether Herr Bach - junior had also some Russian roots, he he ...))) But he travelled a lot....Like also Maestro Vivaldi, who was deeply impressed by the Gypsy music of the East Europe..... for example.
