i remember seeing them open up for the Beastie Boys back in 92' or 93' and i loved them. I actually knew about them before that show and was psyched to see them there that night. Their first album is nothing short of greatness.
I remember the day I stumbled on to BaseHead way back when, when they opened up for Radiohead at the Palace in Los Angeles 92 or was it 93?. Either way it was a rare treat I'll never forget!
Saw these guys in DC's 9:30 Club on their first tour - great show, and great band for a while. IMO, Michael Ivey & Co. had only one good album in them (frankly, "Not In Kansas Anymore" was pretty week), but what an album it was, and what a song this was. Nice post.
Graham Crackers fo life! It's been a while since I've listened to Play With Toys. Pardon me for coming into the conversation late but what became of these guys? They didn't seem to ever catch on but they had a great sound. I love that they actually played the bass and drums.
why why why did I throw away all my tapes after I graduated from college in'94???? The plan was to replace everything with CDs, and get rid of that dumb tape rack. I didn't even know ths came with a video?
Those first two albums are classic! A truly original group. Can't find it online either. Anyone have links? Michael, post that shit on Itunes and we will buy it!
I met the singer at NYU. He had a friend in a film course. We had some of their old masters which they gave the radio station for promotion. When the station decided to throw these masters out a few of us grabbed some. Excellent videos...
Such a great song, I have the single cd with four different versions of this song. Does anybody know of they made a video for "Ode to My Favorite Beer"?
i was looking for bassnectar

Mike Ivey (Basehead) also had a keyboardist/DJ in his band named Citizen Cope :)

Michael Ivey, where are you?

@friendlier
Unfortunately, he went religious and his music suffered pretty badly. His albums after Not In Kansas Anymore are, IMO, awful.

Amazon has both of them, but it will set
you back a bit. Worth it if you ask me though. I've still got the originals. You
might also want to check out another early
90's band called Follow For Now.

Not masters...I mean limited edition promotional videos... and I no longer have them... I'd really like to see the video for Split Personality again.

certainly ground-breaking for the time. would a group like basehead garner the same kind of critical acclaim today?
