Most likely this is caused by a lack of magnesium in the diet.....Green leafy vegetables contain magnesium along with nuts,etc..
To make sure you don't get another piece of food lodged in one of those pouches that causes diverticulitis, you need to make sure your stool is moving fast and watery so you need a bowel movement every day. TO DO THIS, add 500 mg to 750mg of magnesium daily. If your stool is too watery, then decrease the magnesium until you're comfortable.
consider adding some other supplements that are beneficial to your skin like MSM, BIOTIN, B-complex, omega 3, and vitamin c for starters........Magnesium and MSM would make a GREAT Christmas present to keep from getting food particles in one of those pouches!
I am 55 and just under went 2 ft of colon removal due to diverticulitis. I have a colostomy bag to be reversed in 6 months. I thought I had an impaction but, instead it was inflammation. I had been under the care of 4 doctors with anti-inflammatories for joint pain. I believe it was the drugs that ate through the colon and caused the inflammation....Has anyone else had this problem?
I'm only 24 and I had to go to urgent care last Monday because my left side was hurting me so badly. He told me he thought it was diverticulitis, but he called it an infection, not a disease. Now that I've been doing some research I'm really scared! Any advice?
Ive had it myself and the pain was like someone sticking a dull butter knife inside your gut and twisting it. Ended up having surgery and wearing a shitbag until the next surgery which put everything back together. after the surgery I felt as if I had been hit by a train .
im only a 33 year old female who has just done 8 days in hospital with severe end as well i agree its like your going to die when you experience so much pain and fever i maxed out all the pain relief and am due for colonoscopy in 8 weeks....PRETTY SCARED as this is not common in my age
@mercedesnz1 I'm 36, and recently found out I have diverticulitis. I've had kidney stones before, so when it first started, I thought that must be it. The pain just kept increasing along with the extreme nausea, vomiting non-stop and fever. I couldn't eat for over 2 weeks while I lay in my bed and sweat out the pain and nausea. I ran out of meds for it, and suffered a recent relapse. I was stuck in my bedroom for 3 weeks just wanting to die.
@SYLENTX503 if you have constipation, diahrea, bloody stools all signs of this disease i was in hospital for 5 days with fever of 102, i had diverticulitis and let me tell you, i thought i was going to die from the pain, they came close to doing emergency surgery on me, i still may have it done later, after 5 days in hospital i was able to go home.
@debz12180 I know what you mean. I'm a combat veteran, and have a high tolerance for pain, so I thought... This disease is just devastating when the symptoms flare up. I was in so much pain, I was floating in and out of consciousness and throwing up every 15 minutes. I couldn't even drink water, my body wouldn't take it.
I spent 9 days in the hospital. This was life threatning for me as well. I have to get the surgury, but I weigh too much at this moment. Please keep me in your regards. And good luck to everyone whom is living with this disease.
I am scheduled for a laprascopic colon resection tomorrow. I have had diverticulosis for ten years with over 30 episodes of diverticulitis. If you have been hospitalized you should consider surgery.
Im on day 4 in the hospital and just missed a major surgery due to the infection he speaks of from this. I actually just watched this video from my hospital bed, hopefully can go home tomorrow. Very painful and life threatening worst case scenario.
My dad was just diagnosed with diverticulitis. He said it's the worst pain he's ever felt.

So do the holes go away by taking fiber? Those look like they could get filled with poop that would stick around for a while in your guts. Yuck
batfly 2 years ago
@batfly The pouches will never go away naturally, fiber just helps to keep those pouches clean. It is not a pleasant thing to have. =/
