The lady donor is a great person . I wish her long and healthy life with her family. The parents of the little girl are so brave and strong. God bless people who have kind heart and are unselfish and don't use bad language no matter what their believes are.

I just realised, this is the fifth time I've had a bender where I feel spaced out in the brain. I've been drinking for about twenty years 6 - 8 most nights. A couple of years, regular morning starts. I'd say moderate alcoholic only. Dunno pretty relaxed about giving up piss and that the liver won't be too crucial til well after old age sets in so long as I keep up athlete lifestyle.

I had my transplant in September of 09, i was 19 and my aunt donated over half her liver to save me. I'm now healthy and so happy that I had great doctors at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago who performed my live saving 14 hour surgery.

@Liaram66 the younger the donor, the better for the recipient..after transplant there are many meds that a recipient should take..some are lifelong...it also depends if the recipient has any other ailments like diabetes,low/high bp,etc etc...no alcohol and no ciggs...to cut it short, the lifestyle of the recipient will ultimately be responsible to live long or short...

I heard that after a heart transplant,the chance of long surival is much less than after a liver transplant, because the liver is a different organ,it can regenerate itself.And chances are even better after a living donor transplant.I know that the rate of survival can't be known for sure,I was just curious about an average rate.Thank you!

@Liaram66 when i was in the hosp. there was a guy of 50yrs who got a living donor, but after the ops his body couldnt accept the liver, then again within 2 days another living donor was called and operated again, the liver suited him fine...after 30 days, the recipient suffered a heart attack..so it was meaningless for two living people to take the risk without thinking about their own future..and the donors were the recipients brother and sister in law...not even his own brother and sister...
