Either way, though, I did find it surprising that she was still at home for when this show took place since she was given the money so that she could move (but I think the reason she stayed was because of the school her daughter went to).

Probably fast food. Her mum is obviously super morbidly obese & her dad, nice man, is well heavy, but I think Ashley has a real fear of joining the adult world & her parents are more than content for her & her daughter to remain under their roof. I know where Abasi is coming from, i'm white, and I get some of what he was trying to say. He was trying to bring out the reality of the fact that there is still racism and there is still this problem of inequality. I understand fighting for that. What frustrated me the most was how when he actually went to man up for losing his temper she just completely milked trying to be the victim. The "oh I see color now" comment was stupid to me. I think that there is a new kind of racism now.

@klcna It is based on people completely disregarding reality. The "I don't see color" thing is wrong. People shouldn't ignore or pretend not to see race. We are different races and I think that should be acknowledged and embraced. There is nothing wrong with being black or native or anything else, you don't have to pretend that you can't see it. When Marguerite said that she, "Now sees skin colour," my heart sank for some reason. True, based on what happened in the last episode that she was in, she needed to know and understand prejudism, but I feel as though Abasi destroyed her completely. She now knows what it's like to be ostracized, but her views on race are now tainted. She had a bad experience with one black man and, sadly, all black people will now be Abasi to her... She gained something, but lost something important. That's sad.

She said she now sees skin colour, which means to me that she will be skittish around all black people. She wasn't before this experience. It isn't all Abasi's fault that she now feels this way, though, it's hers as well. I do not agree that she should see all black people this way, it is wrong.
