  • why did cat stop the 5 series?

  • Why don't you guys send it to CAT they will restore it

  • wow

  • monster energy :)

  • The gold mine I work at has a 5230. It's burned down twice, and has many major mechanical problems often, but we love it anyway. Wouldn't be surprised if pieces of this 5230 wind up on ours someday if they aren't on there already.

  • big matha sucka.

  • Why has it been wrecked? It still works!

  • Cat is actually getting back into large mining shovel market. Some smaller models should be out by 2011 with bigger ones to follow in 2012. This is what I've been told and read..

  • @billymp79 cat cant make big shovels, i love cat but they cant, they spent 10m on trying to design a big shovel then did nothing when they couldnt and came out witht he M series graders which are just as big of hassle, i know that WesTac in australia which is cats biggest dealer, has bought out lebier and bysrus, both big shovel making companies, going to run cat engines/hydrualic components in those.

  • @TheBumcum Cat Is already in the process the buying Bucyrus and it will be done in mid year. So they will once again have larger excavators and shovels in there product line. look it up on the net you will find that they are indeed buying out Bucyrus.

  • 3516 sounds good in them.

  • Did Caterpillar get out of the business of making these big mining excavators? On their website, the biggest excavator they show is the 385 - a very big construction machine, but not in the class of these 5100/5200 series.

  • fuck she's a big old lump eh

  • lol.. remember the get the ladder =P

  • great video

  • have you ever heard of dean machinery cat?

  • sorry never heard of them

  • soda springs down by pocatello

  • soda springs about 1 hour from pocatello

  • the track frames look splayed

  • dont feel bad ia m still running one up here in idaho that is great mucking shape

  • what are you mining in alaska?

  • this machine is at a gold mine. it was kind of a sad job for me. i had to get the machine running so it could be driven to the bone yard.

  • I reponded to a call one night on 7LL0032 and it had an oil leak in the slew bearing area, was cold thick oil on the ground so i thought a slew box, shone the torch and saw a fresh fracture on the fibreglass guard around the slew ring, pulled it all off and found it had failed a bottom pinion bearing on the front slewbox, dirt boss called up and asked how long it would be and responded "about 2 weeks" after 30 seconds of silence on the rdio the next thing he said was, 'I will be right up"!!

  • That happened to a 5130 here in Scotland (one of only 2 left in the UK)

  • What Cat dealer has that territory and do you work for them?

  • it is a beautiful piece of equipment! and I totally agree that cat should go back into production of large mining shovels!

  • I also agree that the Cat returned to the production of large excavators, such as 5130 or 5230, why stop producing the CAT excavator 5130 and 5230 ???????

  • It s shame that Caterpillar got cold feet and stopped making this and the smaller 5130B.I am sure that Hitachi,Komatsu,Terex and Liebherr are very happy that Cat got those cold feet to.Thats a 994 ibn the background to.While Cat was withdrawing Terex and Komatsu were expanding.More recently Hitachi and Liebherr would do the same thing

  • it's in alaska

  • Is this in PA?
