  • The Australian equivalent of the 'Eagles"

  • While Coutdown had its place and did show good Aussie bands the insistence of mimng was restrictive and missed out on that awesome live feel and sound that would've made a good show into a great one.

  • Roger McLachlan is miming with a Fender 6 string bass. Looks like a Jaguar model with Strat pickups. Horrible instrument. He usually played a Jazz bass.

  • I bet they didn't like having to mime this song on Coutdown.

The irony was that they were a great live band but they (and all the other bands) had to obey the Countdown rules to get national TV exposure.

  • Land of Fortune , great album

  • @hunkydaboyz THE best album ever made in Australia

  • @TARBABY71 youi haven't got it on cd , by any chance

  • fuckin great stuff you bet the stars aussie legends we need a greatest hits cd of there songs released or there original albums re'released on cd hell yeah

  • It sounded great at the Bondi Lifesaver too !

  • Way out of step with what was happening in contemporary music in '76 ....

  • Who cares, they were a grouse Aussie Rock band!!

  • What a smooth voice this chap had. Great toe-tapper. Would have been a good billing - these with Quo.

  • they came to my school '76 i think it was, had a great song called quick on the draw

  • They should get the band back together less Andy Durant of course. The young ones of today would love the music they played.

  • I saw Mick play at the Manhatten back in September - he was still fabulous!!

  • What's Mick doing now??

  • He's working in a butcher shop in mailing rd camberwell! Pop in and buy a chop of him

  • Great band very underrated.

RIP andy ( what a talent taken too soon )

Loved the early singles boogie feel ....very status quo :-)))))))))))))

  • great live vocal by mick, the rest was the studio tape. all time great solo and harmonics by mal!

  • This takes me back to nights at the Sentimental Bloke in Melbourne back in the

70's - I loved Stars then and I still do!!

  • I was there too!!!

  • I didn't see you catwic - my bad!! Did have a nice chat with Mick though...

  • I wouldn't expect anyone to remember me in those days!!! But i did used to go to the Sentimental Bloke for a while, and loads of other venues.

  • The Bloke was such a dive, but had some sensational bands perform there in the lates 70s/early 80s!

  • Indeed it did. I even saw INXS there before they were hardly known. I haven't lived in Melbourne for over 10 years - It the place still there??

  • It's still there but you wouldn't recognise it! Remember the Veneto Club over the road? They took it over years ago and it's a function/reception/pokies/restaurant venue now... ah, the memories!

  • RIP Andy. Great solo Mal!!

  • How young does Mal Eastick look!!! Great to hear this again.

  • thanks for that info....i'm off to watch it now. :)

  • Brings back wonderful memories Micky P. Love always.

  • Fantastic

  • Great under-rated Aussie band from the seventies, never got the recognition they deserved, thanks Superyob for the great clip, Evan.

  • Yes it was

  • Hey, wasnt this the same band that had a really cool song called Nothing stays the Same...or You better Look after Yourself? Man, if you have it, if you could upload it, it would make my day...Havent heard that song in ages.

  • Yes it was the same band. If you scroll down you will actually find it listed so you can play it.

  • Sorry it has gone off list but if you type Australian 70s band stars you'll find a video of that song there.

  • look after yourself is the name of the song, on the paradise album. shoud be available on cd. along with other albums 1157, land of fortune and andy durant memorial concert. great music, we used to see them live all the time along with other greats like russell morris, mark gillespie and stockley see mason band. let me know how you go, cheers, dan

  • I've got Paradise on CD... it was realeased as a "Mushroom Midprice Masters", ref D 19533. I got it on EBay around 2002, but it might still be available. It's a great album!!
