Glitter Girl, YOU ARE AWESOME! I totally love your style..the fluidity is beautiful and you never look technical...always like your are dancing. I like your choice of music too...good to hear other options to spin to! WORK IT!
I always enjoy your performances soooo much! To me the art of poi is a dance and an interpretation of the music. I love how you move with the music instead of just standing there throwing out every trick in the book, which I have seen so many times. Just wondering, what length chain do you use? I find my chainds to be a bit too long, but not really sure how short to go.
i use pretty short chain. i'm a short woman though -- i'm not even 5'3" and the length of my chain depends on the heads i use. so the smaller the heads i use the longer the chain, but still, they are short. the heads come down to about the bottom of my calf muscles.
HOLY SHIT that made my soul smile, I'm way farther than you as far as skill goes (just to say I know whats up), but amazing dance! Inspirational, only reinforces my idea that I want a video with a very similar energy! And great song choice. Truly one of the best videos I've come across.
i love when tech folks comment on my videos. I know way more tech than what's in this video. for me, performance has never been (and never will be) about doing all the technical moves you can. instead, it's about putting on a show that integrates three things: expression (the dance), technique (skills) and performance (the presence to carry a show). IMO, skills alone are the least important part of the three. tech folks often disagree. ;) thanks for the comment and feedback! :)
Total agree with you on this. I've watched your "GlitterGirl Poi Dancing Fire Flags" like a billion times. And even if you're not doing reverse 9 beat antispins.......girl, you GOT the moves. Never get tired of watching you. :-)
@GrendelNin thanks much. you know, you might really enjoy this video a lot: youtube.com/watch?v=NJdAANLKCAQ -- it's a recent practice session and you might really dig some of the sections where i'm just dancing. :)
thanks so much. if you're interested in the songs i enjoy, check out the blog on temple of poi at blog daht templeofpoi daht com. lots of iMixes there with links to the songs in iTunes. :)
thank you thank you thank you! appreciate the feedback. my goal is always to be a visual instrument of the music -- while integrating great technique as well. :)
thanks for the feedback. i had those same thoughts indeed... there are a lot of things that could be cleaned up, eh? though, it's always tough to get the exact precision of the poi i'd prefer to the music and have the dance look as i'd like it to look -- the dance being my priority over the technical part... and ideally, integration of both. ;)
You'll need to keep an eye on those flowers, even time antispin flowers don't tend to work so well, it makes the poi follow different patterns. Antispin buzzsaw flowers are cut off at the top a bit, try that transition a few times more slowly.
Though, I'm sure you can see these watching back yourself, I like to give constructive criticism anyway. Anyway, I hope you enjoy continuing down your path of learning poi. ^_^
Always such a joy to watch! and always inspiring! <3

Cool video, I love the fact that you have fire danced to something other than techno or electronic, that is all I seem to see in most videos.
Alaylm321 1 year ago
the song is an electronic remix though, so i sort of snuck in rock with an electronic styling to it. :) glad you liked it.
