Point is, the camera is the only protection you might have. It's proof.

If these police felt that the protesters actions warranted this level of brutality, then their actions are still, at best, debatable.
However, NYPD felt safe as they viciously assaulted these people. They felt so safe, in fact that they uniformly decided to forgo riot gear, specialized units, and ignored training and protocol.
The police, despite what they say, knew very well that this crowd was non-violent, and would not harm them.
Think: if these officers were "afraid" - why stand their ground at all? Where is their riot gear? Where are the SWAT teams?

Have you seen the Occupy Oakland vid of a marine who was standing peacefully when an officer threw a canister at his head and he sustained brain swelling? Or the video of a man PEACEFULLY video taping a line of officers blocking the road, when he is shot with a rubber bullet that caused him internal bleeding? Point is, the camera is the only protection you might have. It's proof.

What I want to know is how the police can spot the cowards in the crowd. A lot of people I know who don't protest would have taken his stick away and beat him to death with it in the street. But, my point: NYPD, once considered American heroes after 9/11, are now seen nationwide as villains, and brutal.
If these police felt that the protesters actions warranted this level of brutality, then their actions are still, at best, debatable.
However, NYPD felt safe as they viciously assaulted these people. They felt so safe, in fact that they uniformly decided to forgo riot gear, specialized units, and ignored training and protocol.

The police, despite what they say, knew very well that this crowd was non-violent, and would not harm them.
Think: if these officers were "afraid" - why stand their ground at all? Where is their riot gear? Where are the SWAT teams?
The very fact that the NYPD felt safe "in combat" with these kids wearing short sleeves and weighing only clubs - argues strongly for the innocence of these protesters.
