  • @MrVuittonLouis A slight correction. Mary was conceived without the original sin but John the Baptist was conceived with but born without the original sin.

  • St. Bernard: "For this reason, our astonishment is not small in seeing that some of you are believed to be able to introduce a new feast that is unknown to

the rite of the Church that cannot be approved by reason, that is condemned by the ancient traditions, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception."

  • @mpenaco St Bernard was one of many who debated this issue. Remember the salutation of the angel Gabriel "Hail, full of grace" (Luke 1:28)

God knew who that baby will be. He couldn't allow His Son to be conceived in the womb of a sinner.

To St. Ephraem she was as innocent as Eve before her fall, a virgin most estranged from every stain of sin, more holy than the Seraphim, the sealed fountain of the Holy Ghost, the pure seed of God, ever in body and in mind intact and immaculate

  • @JasAlf5959 The Bible says "where sin abounds, grace abounds even more." God's grace is given to the sinner for the forgiveness of sins. Mary as a descendant of Adam and Eve had original sin in her that's why she confessed "my soul rejoices in God my savior."

God purified Mary with His grace so that she can be used by God for His work of salvation, just like He used David, Paul, and others who were once sinners but were made clean by God's grace.

  • @mpenaco I don't know what religion you profess. We can go on forever discussing this issue without agreeing plus, this is not the right place to discuss dogmas and beliefs. Thanks for your observation.

  • @mychoicealfred5 Thank you for the reply but please do not feel compelled to respond if you do not wish to. This is not your video post so you are not obliged to respond to peoples' comments that are not directed at you.

  • @mpenaco jasalf5959 is our other channel and mychoicealfred5 is our music channel. Replied from here not to log out and in.

Youtube is not the place to discuss such issues. My wife is not Maltese and looks at these events as cultural events and likes them.

    Alfred

  • @mychoicealfred5 I see. My apologies for the unwanted posts. But with all due respect, comments such as those I made are being posted and widely discussed in Youtube contrary to your claim, especially on this popular and controversial subject of the Immaculate Conception. People deserve to know the positive and negative sides. Consider this my last comment.

  • @mpenaco My purpose of setting up this channel is to share with viewers about what I've seen and experienced in my adopted country, different culture & traditions. All postings are welcomed except those who choose to ridicule or use foul language. Ridiculing is not Reasoning. Sorry, I am not into discussion as such. I've posted your intention for a debate on our facebook. Now awaiting the interested members to respond. Warm regards from Malta, Jasmine

  • @JasAlf5959 By proclaiming Mary to be without sin from conception is to make the Psalmist a liar who proclaimed:

"Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me." (Ps. 51:5).

And Paul's teaching that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" without any truth and effect.

  • il-fidi taghna!!!

enjoy the feast day, TODAY! god bless

  • @Shanniquitie Thanks for you comment. We couldn't make it to the feast this year. We were there last year with 6 Sicilian artists and we all enjoyed the beautiful feast.

    God bless,

    Jasmine & Alfred

  • I made a mistake there I am not sure of the name of the Hymn. So I removed that complement only to replace it with this one. I loved the video and the music. so well done Jasmine. You are a very good production manager. Well thought out.

    Ron! 5******* Thank you

  • Thanks so much Ron and I truly appreciate your encouragement and complements. Alfred and I are so glad that you liked the video. It is a joy to be able to share it with you and the rest of the world about the beautiful and very solemn feast we have in Malta.

    Jasmine

  • Bellezza, thank you Jasmine & Alfred. This being the last feast for the year,I'll have to wait a few months before we see more of your Festa videos.

    John Demicoli-Syd Aust.

  • Grazzi hafna,John. It was our first time visiting this feast. Our Sicilian artist friends who were with us were very impressed how solemn the feast was held. Renato's singing is fantastic.

  • Hi Alfred and Jasmine. Thank you for the video. It sure brought back memories. The tradition was that the women young or old would " izzanznu" a new coat. Looked like they had good weather. Achilles and I were at this festa 4 years ago. We had planned to stay longer that year just to see Il- Kuncizzjoni and we were glad we did.

  • Hi Nancy. Glad the video brought you some fond memories. We did not "zanzanna" any new coats but we sure enjoyed the feast.

Weather was perfect from Sunday to Tuesday but turned very windy the day after.

Always nice to hear from you.

    Love,

    Alfred & Jasmine

  • Dear Alfred and Jesmine, Exellent. I missed the Feast Day, and thanks to you I enjoyed it as if I was there, Myself being from TAS-SITT XHUR, am very proud to have this feast of The Imaculate Conception printed for ever on You Tube.

Well done presentation in Stills and Motion. Congratulations. Sure will be another hit. And for those that were not aware that there is another feast outside Cospicua, in Gozo we have two, this one and another one Qala. Thanks to one and all, Viva Marija Immakulata

  • Thanks Joe for your kind comments. We happened to be in Gozo and told Jasmine we should not miss this traditional procession and both of us are glad we went to see it.

Tas-Sitt Xhur jew ta' Hdejn San Frangisk area is a beutiful spot in Victoria. The church is a masterpiece and so is the baroque 1884 statue.

  • Tom, St Francis is not a parish but this feast is a popula one and very traditional.

  • This is one feast I never attended to, thanks to you now I have seen it through different eyes..........sliemalouis

  • It is very popular in Victoria and there were hundreds of people. I've seen it many years ago and its popularity is stil very strong.

  • I live and learn. I never knew the Kuncizzjoni was celebrated outside Cospicua. My late wife was a Bormliza and on the 8th of December she would spend hours at the Church listening to the Panegiriku.

tom - thanks for teaching us ex pats
