the 1st bandlands lp was so on fire, jake e really showed what he was made of and ray gillan(r.i.p)had a voice made of gold...one of the best of that era...and what followed afterwards except for nirvana was pure shit...soundgarden were ok as well...but...that music was so fucking depressing...there's enough depressing shit in the world...leave it outta rock N roll...please!!! :)

From the era that produced the best musicians and the best music, these guys are near the top of the heap. Amazing artists who never reached their full potential as group.
funny how everyone feels for Jake. He got Eric Singer kicked out because Eric was trying to help the band become more commercially visible by doing interviews and other media. Jake is considered underrated at his own hand. not Ozzy's. He didn't want attention.
Which brings us to Eric's replacement on the second CD. The guy has THE worst drum sound in history - sounding like he played on practice pads. ruins the overall feel of the songs on that CD.
@Popeyedrums Jake did not get Eric Singer fired, Jake fired him you see Jake owned & still owns Badlands the name & everything that goes with it. It was the bass player Greg Chassian who if anybody other than Eric himself got him fired. Eric is a notorious asshole. Check into it. He has lasted with Kiss cause he worships them. acts like a fan around them
I haven't heard this song in years. But for some reason I felt the need to look it up. Damn Jake is a freaking beast. I sure wish he'd come out of hiding.
I saw Badlands play their last gig (tho' didn't know it at time) on July 19 , 1992 at The Marquee in London - Damn it was loud!!! I love Jake's raw in your face tone.
I remember seeing this band at a Dallas club. What a fucking night that was! Great show but I had a buzz in my right ear for about 2 days after. Loud motherfuckers!
Sadly Ray liked the escorts /call girls/hookers - fuck I miss his voice - man what could I be listening to now of his that would of been new - what a loss
Ray Gillen was one of the greatest singers of this era, albiet wildly underrated. He left us way to soon. I know he died of complications from AIDS, but I never saw him as overtly gay or heard he was...was he actually gay? Or an intravenous drug user? Simply curious and nothing more. AIDS doesn't happen by accident.
Was listening to this album tonight, and it occurred to me this is perhaps one top ten hard rock records of the 80's. I'd have to give it an easy 4-4.5/5 stars.
I was 17 when this came out. Surprised it did not become bigger than it was. All the bands which found success in the late 1980's did not do weil when grunge hit in 1991.

I guess it shows how the L.A scene is far superior than that sad excuse for music grunge was
This song started up in the music before Motley Crue hit the stage for their Dr. Feelgood tour in Minnesota and I swear to this day that this song got a bigger ovation than the Crue did all night. Might be my favorite of all time.
Jake E. Lee and John Sykes were two of rock's most underrated guitarists. They played, wrote, and conducted themselves brilliantly. I feel sorry that those two had to deal with two of rock music's biggest jerks.

Ray Gillan was a beast. I don't think it's fair for him to be compared to Robert Plant. Both of them were different, in my opinion. Personally, I like Ray Gillan and his voice more than Robert Plant's (although Robert Plant is amazing)...

Watching these old videos I can see how hard to do all this rock metal musician persona stuff really was, did'nt notice at the time. Excluding Alecia Moore, "Pink",
most of what is recorded now is simply not as good, period.
who the fuck is fallout boys? obviously not a pimple on the ass of rock and roll.to mention dokken or badlands in the same breath as posers like fallout boys is a crime.

@ckendler corporate assholes have brainwashed everyone today. why do you think most bands of that era stay and tour europe all the time. over there they're appreciated unlike here with all this nigger rap and loser "rock" band bullshit. back then guys had real talent. you say dokken who comes to mind? george lynch....you say fall out boys who comes to mind?? nobody......thank you..that's because none these guys have a real talent that stands out. you can't tell none of them apart.
Really like this album. Thought they got lost in the hair band crap, this was a great band. Thought Badlands and Blue Murder were both great bands in the late 80's that got pretty much ignored.
I actually got to see these guys live , They opened for Tesla and Great White , What an awesome concert that was that was like 20 years ago... I still Listen to that CD to this day.. def one of my Favs
@smithdsmit He got fired cause he wouldn't get fucked up like Ozzy would. Ozzy has said in interviews that he never felt like Jake was 1 of the guys and never wanted to be. He couldn't figure Jake out.
this is real rock n roll..todays rock music is not the same and is not as good as the 80,s..im a 80,s metal head 4 sure and i miss them days..this is from thier first album..is a classic

Soxpert 1 year ago 14
@Soxpert Could NOT agree more..Both bands were so good, but lumped in with the Britney Foxxes and Enuff Znuffs of the late 80s

smithdsmit 1 year ago
@smithdsmit He got fired cause he wouldn't get fucked up like Ozzy would. Ozzy has said in interviews that he never felt like Jake was 1 of the guys and never wanted to be. He couldn't figure Jake out.
mrkrinkle71 1 year ago
jake was too bluesy for Oz. Heart and soul. The two first Blands albums are so great. No shredding over the tunes feel
