  • How can you not love the 80's music? Best damn music ever!!

  • Go..Jake ,E

  • The Main Distorted riff KILLS ME. Amazing song, Great band. This song was my favorite off their first album (back when it was new....)

Did not realize they made a video for it..

  • Such a Zeppelin groove. I LOVE this track.

  • hard to find disc or cassette don't know why it sounded bad ass & still does!!!

  • @TheRickc67

found the cassette without cover in the basement when i was 15. still love it, and now im 21. Never lost the magic to me!

  • the 1st bandlands lp was so on fire, jake e really showed what he was made of and ray gillan(r.i.p)had a voice made of gold...one of the best of that era...and what followed afterwards except for nirvana was pure shit...soundgarden were ok as well...but...that music was so fucking depressing...there's enough depressing shit in the world...leave it outta rock N roll...please!!! :)

  • Best singer i've ever heard.Fantastic song and jake E lee on Guitar, what do you want more...

Too bad they stopped afer Ray got killed......

  • @007edmond Ray died from AIDS :(

  • @paulnoah5

lol that's what I said , but then i listened to pearjam and all was forgotten.

  • Jake E Lee please come back!

  • ERIC SINGER OF KISS ON DRUMS!

  • @izcallifornication

Not to mention Jake e. lee on guitar

  • This Band was the Bomb !!!! Ray Gillan was a Great Singer !!!! They Could Rock .....

  • yup just heard about this song on the rock channel today love it

  • Wish they had put out more material.

  • greatest guitar outtro ever

  • love this song <3 Love Badlands

  • Badlands-badass!

  • yup you know it paul.the way i look at it is in the 90s meatal had to use the bathroom and shit out the seattle grunge.now they are rested and makin a come back.cobain probably killed his self for the shit music he put out.the only grunger i liked was niel young

  • This band was hot! not just musicwyse. .....

  • awesome song incredible players zepesque

  • What is tunning Jake playing @ 3:50 definitely an Arabic feel too it intentional or not . Well done !

  • @stage462 I believe he is tuned a half step down

  • From the era that produced the best musicians and the best music, these guys are near the top of the heap. Amazing artists who never reached their full potential as group.

  • funny how everyone feels for Jake. He got Eric Singer kicked out because Eric was trying to help the band become more commercially visible by doing interviews and other media. Jake is considered underrated at his own hand. not Ozzy's. He didn't want attention.

Which brings us to Eric's replacement on the second CD. The guy has THE worst drum sound in history - sounding like he played on practice pads. ruins the overall feel of the songs on that CD.

GREAT band however. They are missed.

  • @Popeyedrums Jake did not get Eric Singer fired, Jake fired him you see Jake owned & still owns Badlands the name & everything that goes with it. It was the bass player Greg Chassian who if anybody other than Eric himself got him fired. Eric is a notorious asshole. Check into it. You will find most ex-bandmates will say he's an excellent drummer but beyond that not much. Anyway Eric has been kicked out of a few bands. He has lasted with Kiss cause he worships them. acts like a fan around them

  • I haven't heard this song in years. But for some reason I felt the need to look it up. Damn Jake is a freaking beast. I sure wish he'd come out of hiding.

  • @CthulhuForCocoaPuffs From what I hear, Jake has completely gone mad. He is not likely to return, unfortunately...

  • I saw Badlands play their last gig (tho' didn't know it at time) on July 19 , 1992 at The Marquee in London - Damn it was loud!!! I love Jake's raw in your face tone.

  • When did Ray die? Such a shame!

  • sweet gowanda jr sr 92 rocked hope things worked out

  • Ray Gillen? Ray Plant would have been more apt!

  • ozzy actually copied the intro guitar part in " no easy way out ".

  • Comment removed

  • JUMPIN JESUS THIS GUY CAN SING. TOO BAD HE'S DEAD.

OH AND J.E.L. IS GOOD TOO

  • seen em in 91 at the palladium in dallas, great show great band.

  • ray and ian are NOT brothers. ian is english and their last names are spelled different.

  • I remember seeing this band at a Dallas club. What a fucking night that was! Great show but I had a buzz in my right ear for about 2 days after. Loud motherfuckers!

  • this is the ultimite blues hard rockin band of the 80s bad ass vocalist like his brother ian gillan... he kicks as with black sbbath in born again

  • this is the ultimite blues hard rockin band of the 80s

  • Sadly Ray liked the escorts /call girls/hookers - fuck I miss his voice - man what could I be listening to now of his that would of been new - what a loss

  • DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW CLOSE I WAS TO SEE THESE GUYS? 10 FEET FROM DALLAS CITY LIMITS (CLUB) AND THEY SOLD OUT!! SHIT!!!

  • @fasterplayer65 Bummer!!! I personally met each of them at a record signing...nice guys.

  • DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW CLOSE I WAS TO SEE THESE GUYS? 10 FEET FROM DALLAS CITY LIMITS (CLUB) AND THE SOLD OUT!! SHIT!!!

  • R I P Ray...gone but NEVER forgotten!!

  • No Ray was not gay or a drug abuser, He contracted aids by intimate contact..

  • Ray Gillen was one of the greatest singers of this era, albiet wildly underrated. He left us way to soon. I know he died of complications from AIDS, but I never saw him as overtly gay or heard he was...was he actually gay? Or an intravenous drug user? Simply curious and nothing more. AIDS doesn't happen by accident.

  • @smitchix1 Don't have to be gay to get AIDS, surely you know that...

  • @smitchix1 your an ignorant idiot. stop breathing my air

  • Where have all the longhairs gone???Was at Mayhem fest Hartford-only ones were on stage----Great album-Zeppelinesque fine by me!!!!!!!

  • who disliked this?!?

  • This was an excellent album. Voodoo highway was a lil disappointing though.

  • Love yah Raymond! Im here! I havent forgot you!

  • Was listening to this album tonight, and it occurred to me this is perhaps one top ten hard rock records of the 80's. I'd have to give it an easy 4-4.5/5 stars.

  • jake has the best hair

    and he shreds

  • I was 17 when this came out. Surprised it did not become bigger than it was. All the bands which found success in the late 1980's did not do weil when grunge hit in 1991.

  • I LOVE you ,jake! RIP RAY :(

  • @EvanEli I am a big Badlands fan, And have no interest in Justin Beiber. You can think that it is uncool to dis him all that you want.

@fraginatOr I am not a "closet" Beiber fan. You must be talking about yourself.

  • 22 Beiber fans proved that they have no taste in music.

  • @MrSkyhawk22 Jesus fucking christ. It's more uncool to dis Justin than actually liking him. I can't stand his music but I don't compare that shit to Badlands. Grow up.

  • why the hell are people even mentioning beiber on this video, how about sticking to the subject at least, lame, maybe you are a closset beiber fan lol

  • Blue Murder's Jelly Roll and this tune were always on my mix tapes that I made for people.

  • man this shit was the best before that gay heroinistic seattle crap killed everything L,A. had to offer half those clowns are gone what awaste!..........

  • @paulnoah5 THIS

  • @paulnoah5 Can't appreciate another region's styles cause you're too busy bitching about the spotlight not being on you for a half a second. What an ass clown.

  • @paulnoah5 Here´s a funny thing , Jake E. Lee can play any Nirvana song ( but he won´t ´cause he´s to good for that shit ) now Cobain couldn´t play a lick written by Jake .

I guess it shows how the L.A scene is far superior than that sad excuse for music grunge was

  • How and the hell can anyone not like this song?

  • Ray Gillen is so beautiful in this video.

  • One of my favorite metal singers. Very talented and so damn sexy. May Ray Gillen rest in peace

  • This song started up in the music before Motley Crue hit the stage for their Dr. Feelgood tour in Minnesota and I swear to this day that this song got a bigger ovation than the Crue did all night. Might be my favorite of all time.

  • This song reminds me of leavin' for California when I was younger.

  • RIP Ray

  • I never got into badlands until I saw them live. Then I appreciated them and their music. They were a phenomenal band.

  • Ray Gillan left us way to f#ing soon.

  • Jake E. Lee and John Sykes were two of rock's most underrated guitarists. They played, wrote, and conducted themselves brilliantly. I feel sorry that those two had to deal with two of rock music's biggest jerks.

    Blue Murder and Badlands <3

Ray Gillan was a beast. I don't think it's fair for him to be compared to Robert Plant. Both of them were different, in my opinion. Personally, I like Ray Gillan and his voice more than Robert Plant's (although Robert Plant is amazing)...

    R.I.P. Ray

  • @skicks1995 well said

  • @skicks1995 ........You're dead on man. Gillen and Coverdale will always be listed as ripping Plant.........Please....All, all bands and artists are influenced by someone. Gillen and DC can really sing.....their voices are their voices. They are not trying to sound like Plant.....I'm so sick of the comparisons.

  • @skicks1995 I agree with what you posted 100%...all were underated.

  • @blackeywhitey1 Your confusing him with your mother's asshole.

  • miss ray till this day x

  • blackeywhitey....why don't you go touch yourself ,if you can find it, and keep your comments to music that you like (like WHAM) and let us worry about who lives and dies in the Rock-N-Roll world!! Gillan Rocks!!! As far as your "guilty pleasure", I think the gerbals are on sale for a dollar .99 at PetsMart!!! If it get's stuck (again) I wouldn't bother calling 911, they're done with you!!!

  • Hey look, Led Zepplin

Meh. I still love jake \m/

  • So awesome. Too bad I was born too late to see them.

  • Best voice ever(up there with some others) too bad he died!

  • i'l give it tio you now momma ;)

  • @blackeywhitey1 Stop projecting your guilty pleasures onto others, there are plenty of therapists that can help you with your guilt. ;)

  • one of the greatest bands, such a short lived time though..brings back so many memories..R.I.P. Ray

  • @blackeywhitey1 What a douche!

  • shred zeppelin

    RIP Ray \m/

  • Badlands is great but Move you lose from Phenomena II... can't describe this one with words, RAY 4 EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • JAKE E LEE RULES!!!

  • DAMN GOOD SINGER HERES TO YOU YA RAY

  • fucking aye man the guy could sing man! RIP Ray!

  • What a set of pipes on this guy. RIP Ray.

  • I met Jake E. Lee in Cedar Rapids at Big Dogs back in the early 90's. He was touring solo. He was very humble and soft spoken.

  • Truly baffling how this band didn't rule the world. If the world of music was a meritocracy, and not the payola crapfest that it is, they would have.

  • @soulschizm2424 I dont think they ever really had a chance before ray got sick i have heard that he was already sick in this video and thats sad cause the two were a great match i think

  • RIP Ray....you are missed

  • DAMN ! Thats all that needs to be said !

  • just found out about these guys, they could have - should have been huge, damn aids. And if anyone has a spare minute please check out some of my instrumental guitar work thanks :)

  • Watching these old videos I can see how hard to do all this rock metal musician persona stuff really was, did'nt notice at the time. Excluding Alecia Moore, "Pink",

most of what is recorded now is simply not as good, period.

  • Who ever voted dislike on this song obviously has no soul or taste or ears to hear

  • Who ever voted thumbs down on this song obviously has no soul

  • Loved Ray's vibrato on sustained notes. He's truly missed.

  • the talent in this band was off the page.

  • who the fuck is fallout boys? obviously not a pimple on the ass of rock and roll.to mention dokken or badlands in the same breath as posers like fallout boys is a crime.

  • Jake rocks, kick ass guitar!

  • Ray Gillen was THE greatest vocalist of all time. If you agree thumbs up!!!

  • Freddie and Ray, Two AMAZING singers, and we had to lose them so soon. Ray had such a unique voice and could have taken over Hair Metal single handedly.

Wish I could have witnessed the pure talent of him live.

    R.I.P. Ray Gillen.

  • great song. Why take the good rockers away? Take the old ones!

  • Comment removed

  • Rock,Metal,Was born on this day!

  • Great song.. Is there anything else for video's fron Badlands?

  • @jakeinco24

Look for "Dreams in the Dark." They made a video for that song too.

  • R.I.P. Ray .....This is a much missed band!!!!!

  • yea. i loved this group years ago. when i was at my lowest. and yea jake e lee is an awesome guitarist

  • Love this kind of blues based hard rock/heavy metal.

Has some soul to it and still rocks out. When done well it is some great stuff, and Badlands did this well.

I didn't like all their stuff, but this is a great tune.

  • Okay, snowstorm coming and missing hair metal- seems like a good choice of song! lol- and enjoy

  • overshadowed by Zakk and Randy but admired by the true fans.

  • @Mockingbird5150 Zakk was a cheap cover version...

  • time goes by...japan upload help...

  • OMG!!!!!! JAKE E LEE live is a memorable experience , i had the experience once back in my teens 3rd row. i couldn't take my eyes off him.i am with ya wish i was 13 again....

  • heymissdj...Oh, don't I know it...;(

  • Yeah, really--I agree, ckendler...:\

  • thats what you get for not using your big head instead of the smaller one

  • I heard something like he was dating the chick in THIS video and then she got sick too....I wonder if that is true? I heard the needle thing many times...

  • Ray got aids from an infected female. He was a sexoholic and banged every chic he could nail.

  • did he knew he was hiv?the 1st album is a classic

  • Just listened to all 3 albums in a row again for the millionth time, this is still in my top 5 Badlands songs, Devils Stomp, Rumblin Train, Healer, Whiskey Dust....in fact they are all my favs!

  • I love this song I LOVE ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

  • Jake E. Lee was AWESOME! Saw Badlands at Florentine gardens in LA around '92!

  • Comeback Jake E Lee.

  • RAY beeeeeautiful mannn

  • not only do they look good, they're bad ass musicians.

  • Does anybody knows how he caught HiV? It seems to be a mistery

  • @gfgranja maybe on the badlands tourbus every night at every stop. listen to the song the rumblin train. read the lyrics

  • @gfgranja I read somewhere that he got HIV from needles. Only takes one dirty needle. So sad, such a goddamn shame.

  • @tattoofu Ray got AIDS from unprotected sex. Ray hated needles. I mean, look at they guy, he was always surrounded by hot chicks. I'll leave it at that. RIP Ray.

  • Awesome video thanks for sharing!

  • "We want to be Led Zep, oh so Bad, oh so Bad. lol

  • @removetube fuck off shitface. not even close.....

  • @kisstories2000

    Absolutely underrated!!! and People forget...

One my valued things is a, CD of Badlands first album - i got in 1990 and that was after it had been out a while

  • reminds me of the good years. where does time go? and yes, music these days blows. wish i was 20 again.

  • @ckendler

I with you on that! I wish i could turn back time SO BAD. many days lately it just hurts in this time and space... sure we have internet and cell phones but when this album came out who needed anything more- this stuff go straight to the soul and kicks ass!

Time flys as we get older.....

  • @ckendler corporate assholes have brainwashed everyone today. why do you think most bands of that era stay and tour europe all the time. over there they're appreciated unlike here with all this nigger rap and loser "rock" band bullshit. back then guys had real talent. you say dokken who comes to mind? george lynch....you say fall out boys who comes to mind?? nobody......thank you..that's because none these guys have a real talent that stands out. you can't tell none of them apart.

  • @texterr WHO IS OUTBOYS NOWADAY´S ARE NOTHING COMPARED TO MONSTER OF ROCK FROM THE 80´S THEIR SONG´S HAD SPIRIT GREAT LYRICS NOT LIKE NOW

  • @texterr You said it all dude...

  • @ckendler

Eesh, no kiddin. I'm 20 now and I wish music was half as good as it was 20 years ago.

  • @ckendler

    Amen

  • @ckendler Today music sucks. I was 20 years old when this song came out. Summer of 89 was rockin to me.

  • God, I love this music my generations music sucks.

  • @Darthhavock13 Yes I whole-heartedly agree. Since 1996,musi has sucke out loud!

  • Really like this album. Thought they got lost in the hair band crap, this was a great band. Thought Badlands and Blue Murder were both great bands in the late 80's that got pretty much ignored.

  • @Soxpert Could NOT agree more..Both bands were so good, but lumped in with the Britney Foxxes and Enuff Znuffs of the late 80s

  • Great band....great voice....R.I.P. Ray

  • played with these guys several show ray RIP was cool as hell all of them were except jake that guy is a class a prick

  • Comment removed

  • the bass player greg is in my dads band!!!

  • @jakeskate909 are you talking about Blindside Blues Band? I love those guys!

  • Jake lives in Vegas and jams occasionally with the locals in the clubs....

  • jake proably left ozzy because he wasnt getting paid.

  • @smithdsmit He got fired cause he wouldn't get fucked up like Ozzy would. Ozzy has said in interviews that he never felt like Jake was 1 of the guys and never wanted to be. He couldn't figure Jake out.

  • jake was too bluesy for Oz. Heart and soul. The two first Blands albums are so great. No shredding over the tunes feel

  • jake e lee rocks!

  • Jake E. Lee enough said. Feel the power!

  • Loved this tune when it came out. Didnt realise How Led Zeppeliny it was but still brilliant.

  • this is real rock n roll..todays rock music is not the same and is not as good as the 80,s..im a 80,s metal head 4 sure and i miss them days..this is from thier first album..is a classic

  • ..It's to bad this "cat" passed away, this was a coll Rock and Roll Band...

  • @SandGs72 ...cool... ;)

  • One awesome band that never got the accolades they deserved

  • Just great music. Love this band and it´s a shame it ended the way it did. Ray will always be remembered. He was great

  • guys i am looking for a video clip (maybe badlands') that when the solo starts the guitarist comes out from a tent!! It's in the desert!!! PLEASE HELP!!

  • @markos96netfight - Motley Crue - Dr. Feelgood
